Character Design Comparison Analysis (Beware: Alot of Redundant Info)

Well some of the designs for the demons might be yokai-ish.
That's not exactly what I meant. I mean, that none of them have any Japanese names or mythological ties to the Amatsukami or whatever the Japanese Pantheon was called (has been some time since I read into it). Design is obviously anime-ish (I say -ish because of all the Western influences), but I can't quite formulate my exact thought (damn, it would be convenient to be a native English-speaker).

i get what you mean tho.

But i think they would have went with yokai if DMC took place in japan.

which brings me to my very first question, when I played DMC3 for the first time: If they wanted to make a japanesey game, why did they choose to appeal to the Western audience?

Because that's the kind of thing they do.

its their style to use Japanese-sy style. its their influence.

I really meant to respond to this sooner, but consider this:
DmC Dante's swordplay is not refined, technical or pretty like Classic Dante's. His axe looks even less focused; as if he just lobs it in the direction of the enemy to deal damage, not using the weighty weapon effectively.

But his scythe is markedly different. He seems very used to twirling the scythe around and generally being fancy (he's even done Roulette Spin with it, I think) while his footwork alternates between dance-like and perfectly controlled.

I think the angel stance is his playful, showy one while devil stance is just meant for power. That's just a theory anyways.

Well look at neoDante's build xD The dude's skinny as heck! Imagine playing as someone with his build using a great-axe like the one he's using? With one hand! The fact he can swing it is something. I like how it comes up slow and then lands with a huge thump...it's showing its weight. The scythe, on the other hand, seems extremely light and the way Dante uses it shows that.

Yeah, I know XD
But actually, the two Dantes look to be about the same weight to me.

Hmmm...neoDante's look is more lanky and thin, while origiDante's build was more muscular and broad to me.
