Guys tone down please. ReRave, your last comment a bit unecessary. There are better ways to exclaim the fact that you don't like the old Dante.

*sigh* you just had to continue the off-topicness right Zwei? You couldn't restrain yourself and tell me in my profile right? I guess it must be incredibly difficult. So much for the conversation we had in PM just a few days ago.

Yeah ok, Donte you should choose your words carefully as well. You have been warned many times for that issue so please do not take this any further.

Now guys. One more off topic, and thread says goodbye.

This time it wasn't even about whether I liked Dante or not. This was just about the coat. And sorry fr the derrogative use of "gay"; that wasn't correct. "Flamboyant" will be the word of choice for now.
:D

he seems to hate everything about the old games except the gameplay
If "everything about the old games" distills to Dante, then yes. Why do you even care? Why is my opinion so important to everyone? :D

Now that I've spoken my piece, I'll try to get back on topic again. Here goes:

Do you guys with think, that all this hate will disappear (even though it still won't be old Dante), once people get their fingers on this game?
Mind you, I'm just adressing those among you, who actually hate the game for the protagonist not being classic Dante. Not taking anyone else into account.

My first reaction? Actually I don't think you had anyone say something like this before..... Anyway my reaction was pretty much this....

" Hmmmmmm...... Random guy in an insane asylum. I'm liking this alraedy *evilface*. Oh? He's fighting now. Not bad.... Oh wait it looks like his mid is tortured..... YES! *evil laugh*. Oh damn, he snapped out of it.... Wait he's on the roof now...... Wait? He's Dante?! *sees Dante free falling from roof* Yep that's Dante alright. *sees Dante smoking a cigarette* HEY DANTE! I'M TRYING TO QUIT YOU KNOW!!!!.... Ok... So Dante has a new appearence. Oh well. Everything has a reason. However.......... The thought of Dante getting tortured? LOVE IT! *evil face*"

*ahem* Er.... Yeah..... I got excided over a tortured Dante lol

Even though I dont really like the new dante, I admit he is really badass.....
I just might warm up to him...

I'm beginning to think that I'm starting to get bipolar when talking about this game.
Its cause i have such conflicting feelings on it.

i could just be confused.

Yeah and the red one looks like a gay Matrix-fan. Your point...?

well we all know its old dmc trademark red coats. its meant for cosplaying.
and i know that its not an everyday wear in public.
but the reason why its not wearable and outrageously styled is what makes it special.

old dante's sense of style is equivalent to that of a trench coat wearing detective/bounty hunter

the cut and color scheme of the red coats say that he likes class and elegance.

look at vash' red coat from trigun or carmen sandiego?

those coats just makes a person stop and capture in the detail. (probably not you)

and that's what some do with the old dante's red trench coats.

you may look at the old looks and say it is cheesy, lame, what were the japanese thinking? it isn't wearable in every day life..... whatever, name your pick...

but that is the point of it.....dante's red coats are a decade old trademark. (means nothing to you but it does for others) and people recogized him more easily by it.

people still need to get used to the new look.
of course seeing dante in a parka or something not really similar to his trademark coats will bother some people.

the new look still threw some of us off because screams more of urban/ punk/ pop. which are popular styles.....and of course like you said, you would even consider wearing a similar same thing to it. there is nothing wrong with that.

lol @ the convo in this thread, kratos looks like a complete idiot because what he has on is not "fashionable"
a kratos dressed like a chav would be so much cooler since people actually wear that in the real world

come on fellas, dante uses a fukkin sword and is a demon in some gothic times, yet to be "cool" he needs to be relatable to the now
he's in a fantasy world yet he needs normal, everyday clothes or he can't be cool

where does the trademark come in?

Actually, it was my friend who told me about the new DmC trailer and how surprised I would get once I saw it. So, thinking, "What else can they throw at me that will make me react viciously?"...I took a look. At first I was okay with it. Catchy music, new background, the city (The city setting, actually something that I dig) was nice. Then comes into screen this weird looking kid. I was thinking another new character, sure...then at the end wondered where Dante was until he gave his "My name is Dante" line then fell off of the building. I clearly remember it. And I know I was staring at the screen for a few minutes before finally having my WTF moment. Clearly to say, I was not very impressed with what happened. The enemies looked better than the "Dante" at some point. The shooting with what I could make out as Ebony and Ivory was...so slow compared to the rapid gunfire that I was so used to. There was no Rebellion, instead...something that looked like an expanding stick/scythe/sword or whatever it was. I was totally against the change. But said that I'd still buy it and give it a shot since it's in the same franchise as DMC. Of course I wished Tameem's face never made it to the interview spots... =.= Seeing the semi resemblance just made me hate it all the more. That and the smoking thing...ugh.

Compared to the other games, I don't know if it's just me or what...but I find the movements slow. The Angel/Devil concept threw me off...literally. And made me wish they just gave it a different name and didn't add it to the franchise. I still want the old Dante back. :| I grew up with the man -Well kinda in non literal terms.- I don't think my fondness for Dante in general will change. But really when he looks so different, it feels...so weird. >> -Wonders why he looks like an overabused drugie.- Hate the fact that the DT makes his hair white. =.= It's not all about the hair. >:/

As far as I'm concerned though, as long as I haven't experienced it under the influence of my controller, I don't have much of a positive feedback to it.

I like the music though, but that's probably it.

If I get enough money, I'd still give it a chance. My brother already abandoned the idea of playing it, so I'm alone on the expenses part. >.o
So at the moment. Just...>_>
Let's just say it's not in my priorities to buy list.

Dantes story takes place in a quite modern world, him being fashionable/realistic/in-vogue/up to date is only logical. Kratos story takes place in ancient greek times, and what was worn then is what he is wearing.
Look at war from darksiders,he's a thousand years old horseman, and he looks as-such.
Look at snake from MGS,niko from GTA,cole from infamous, dante from dantes inferno they all have fictional stories yes,but all these characters relate to their time-line.

Because you are the almighty ReRave! *bows*

Even though this isn't addressed, to me I'm gonna answer anyway. :P I don't think the hate is going to go anywhere. It is just going to change. If the game is good, then a lot of people (not anyone on here mind ;)) who supported the game will go: "HA! We were right and you were wrong. STUPIDZ!" and the haters will respond with "SHUT UP!" If the game sucks then the haters will say the same things to the supporters, who will respond the same way.

Of course I don't mean this forum. Most of this nonsense will happen on other areas of the Internet. If any of it does happen here, it will probably be (mainly) in the forum of trolls signing up, making one post, and then leaving.

Either way the hate isn't going to end just because the game comes out. If anything it will get worse.

I think my views on doing a reboot have changed as I am more open to them doing a revamp.

Before I didnt care as much as I never felt too attach to the old canon outside of DMC3. But now I dont see it as confusing or contradicting, all it needed was someone who cared about the bigger picture.
