Capcom shipped 1 million copies of DmC Devil May Cry in January, the company announced as part of their nine-month earnings report today.

Additionally, the company has revised its sales forecast for DmC Devil May Cry as well. Initially, Capcom expected to ship 2 million copies of the game by March 31st, 2013. Now, that figure has been lowered to 1.2 million.

For comparison, Capcom shipped over 2 million copies of Devil May Cry 4 when the game launched in 2008. Devil May Cry 4 had/has the highest initial shipment of any Devil May Cry title in the series.

So a fiscal year lasts only a few months? That's news to me.

I just heard about this and I was gonna make a thread :P

Lowering their expectations to 1.2 million after making 1 million? Ouch >_<

I hope they meet whatever expectations they have, because it seems like capcom want to keep making Devil May Cry games.

A fiscal year is 12 months, and Capcom's ends March 31st, like other businesses. So their's is from March 2012 up to March 2013.
Though I have to admit, I don't know why they set their sales figures so high seeing as the game would only be out for just under 3 months by then.:/
It's a good move for them to lower the figures considering the short amount of time the game has been out.

Now the question is: Will Capcom be satisfied enough to let NT do a sequel if those figures are met? To me it seems more likely that they are going to let their greed rule them once more, forcing them to view DmC as a failure and look for other opportunities to shovel in money...

Haters win.
I doesn't matter about haters and supporters now. For me it was about buying the game and having a good time with it. Besides, there is still DLC to be released. ^_^

Maybe their lowered sales figures will mean that if it is met, the sequel will be made? I'm going to keep hopeful for that.:)Besides, it's not like 1million is a total failure these days. The game market is weaker than it once was, and the only games that do sell big figures are the COD games. Any others that sell like COD?:/ Anyway, my point is, companies are being unreasonable if they think their game will sell as well as COD, and should stop setting high sales figures.

Meh, I dont like that website at all. It seems full of trolls. The game is doing fine. Its success will depend on long term sales, and I promise you once this bs hate stops and the game starts hitting some more attractive price points it will sell many more copies. It's too good a game to not sell at least 3 million by the end of its run. Most games don't sell 1+Million plus at full price, most of the time when you hear about amazing franchise sales its over an extremely long period of time. I mean if this game sold 2 million copies at full price, it'd be a monumental success, but at this rate its a going to be good selling game.

The previous Devil May Cry had higher initial sales because it came bundled with the PS3 and was heavily cross promoted. But of course, haters never mention this when touting the previous games sales and how they're topping this one. This one is doing fine for a 3rd person action game at the end of a console cycle.

Haters win.

We did?

Yes, the companies being unreasonable is the problem. The way I see it, a million sold copies within the first few weeks should be considered a great success, given the initial hatred for the game and the current state of the economy.
Let's hope Capcom keeps the feet on the ground and doesn't make a rash decision in terms of DMC/DmC's future.

If Capcom will be really hard to us after this... It means no DmC/DMC for a long long time

This^^ NT has stated they even wanted Dante to look more or less the same but CAPCOM wanted a radical change...

That's why I have the worries that the consequence will be, that there will ANY game for a long long time ala MegaMan

If they do DMC5, not everyone will be pleased once again

Nero once again the main spot... Dante should be the main.
Nero just a side kick... Noooo to less Nero and still unanswered questions about his whole life
No Vergil... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dante once again with a completely different personality like in all games... I love him
