Capcom Expects DmC to Sell 2 Million Copies

Thanks for answering the question. :)
Alex is just jealous because Dante has hair and he doesn't.

...

Now that you mention that. I see a trend in that picture. Eshiro has the same hair as DMC3 Dante, Tameen's looks like DmC's Dante. It all makes sense now! The next DMC game is going to have Dante with no hair like Alex! DUN DUN DUUUUN!!

now that i think about it. If DmC can sell 2mill without appealing to the "hardcore" fanbase then they might just continue it as a series, effectively scrapping DMC. But if DmC were to sell expectinally less then the old series they could scrap both and end therefore end DMC as we know it.

You have doomed us all.
Where are my throwing stones....

one benefit of DmC i'm hoping happens is no plotholes, or less. if any ploholes are there need to be small so that they don't take away from the whole story. Aside from a better story with less plotholes, I look forward to seeing character development. If NT pulls that off i don't mind never seeing a DMC5.

As for gameplay that can be improved as the game matures with each iteration.

2 million sounds reasonable enough. If it's mind blowing,i also don't mind replacing the old DMC series

*Sigh*

Well, were there any plot holes in HS or Odyssy?

Well, not really. The games were rather self-explanatory when you had completed them. The only thing I can point out is that both games kinda leaves with a feeling of "What's going to happen now?", if you know what I mean. Kinda had open endings both of them, but I think that's because it leaves us with thinking for ourselves or maybe so they can make a sequal to follow-up on the events.

But if its does sell the 2 million, than would the reboot be considered a success since 2 million was the main price range of the old series was 2 million?

I dont think there are that many plot holes you need to fill up since DMC isnt that confusing or complicated. If you can understand Kingdom hearts, MGS or marvel/Dc comics, this series should be cake.

the only questions i need answered are on nero's connection to dante or whether or not vergil is still alive. I dont really care why Dante's amulets changed colors and shape between 3 and 1.

So there are more discrepancies between games, poor decisions in storytelling or laziness to think story ideas thru than genuine plot holes.

The Vergil plothole does not exist.

As amazing as Vergil is he died. Otherwise Dante reminising their birthday and sad facial expression, and the huge demonic explosion after Vergil was defeated was all without purpose.

it does exist, thank DMC4 for that, neloangelo didn't die per say. Aside from that the main plothole is in vergils character and age when it comes to nero.

But back to vergils supposed death. From what we saw he somewhat exploded which is not an actual death. Mundus doesn't even say he died he says "vergil has been defeated" DEFEATED being the key word here. They left an open plothole and never filled it. Instead they made it more Fd up with adding a son.

I have always said that Nero is not Vergil's nineteen year old son. Rather, I believe Nero has been possessed by Vergil's spirit. That's why his devil trigger is an avatar of Vergil's ghost. Dante and Vergil are sons of Sparda yet their triggers don't look anything like him- until they posses his power. But, the same is true for Arkam who is human and unrelated.

Nero wasn't born with demon powers, he had only recently acquired them and tried to hide it.
I think Vergil used Nero to complete his broken soul again by regaining Yamato. That's why the voice inside of his head was calling for more power. Dante and Vergil don't hear Sparda talking to them in their heads. Nero is simply a human possessed with the power of a demon.

yet capcom made nero the son of vergil..... i read a summary of the DMC4 novel, which i will protest to my last breath, unless its not cannon capcom made another plothole. Wait another in vergils character as well since he did it with a wh ore

to be fair, sanctus just assumed nero's mother was a prostitute because those are the only chicks left unaccounted for on his little island.

but lets leave nero for the dmc4 section. now shall we?

on topic- does dmc selling 2 million a success or a failure?

success, if the core fan hates it and it still sells 2 mill then that means the game as a whole is appealing to alot more people. Not just that but this could be a potential start to a new dmc series selling 2mill and building a new fanbase isn't a bad start.

How would one know how many of the 2M+ buyers of DMC games have decided to not buy DmC? Are you suggesting that the majority of 2M DMC fans aren't going to buy DmC? That would be a big assumption don't you think?

Plus your forgetting a very important factor in sales: NT fanbase. Heavenly sword sold 1.5m, so one can only imagine how many of the 2M buyers of DmCreboot are NT fans.

And the last factor: newbies.

So with all those factors i don't think 2M sale will be the foundation needed to continue with a sequel to DmC reboot. I think Capcom would prefer a 9+ rating from Gamespot, Ign etc. though IGN seems biased.

2M sales seems pretty much guranteed considering the merge of two fanbase: DMC and NT.

2 M is much better for sales targeting. With the NT fanbase, mixed with new comers, and a small amount of the DMC fanbase, plus those of the DMC fanbase who haven't seen anything on DmC since the 2010 trailer, That's what I would think would get 2M. Also, we gotta remember that Dante's new look is like cat nip to American gamers who want to play as a tough guy. Some gamers don't like the generic anime male character, and would like a guy who's got some battle scars and dressed in dirty clothes to show he's had some rough times and can handle himself in the dark world we are not aware of.

All in all, I think DmC will possibly sell 2 million, and after that year it comes out, it will sell more, if the game is good, cause DMC fanboys will be skeptical about it.

Did you also read the novel to the last mass effect game? Novels and other extended universe media break cannon all the time. Look at the mess the star wars universe is now... I mean outside of the prequels, of course.
