Capcom Expects DmC to Sell 2 Million Copies

who knows. it depends on what we see at E3, if qanything is shown. If we get another gameplay trailer with only a little bit of details its fair to say the game still has a ways to go before its done. If we get a story trailer then prepare for a late 2012 release.

also 2 mill is a fair number, while something like 5mill is the long term goal. Funny how DMC is suppose to have a strong fanbase, on multiple consoles might i add, but the lastest DMC has only sold 2.6mill. Yet God of War, a game on just one console, has sold 4.35mill.

In capcoms eyes, and i hope im wrong, if DmC doesn't sell well or meet expectations they might just scrap the series as a whole.

This is actually not a very far fetched idea at all.

I mean, look at the BS they pulled on Megaman. Capcom is suffering hard core, pulling out as many stops as humanly possible to make all of the money they have lost in recent memory.

I think them putting all of their cards into RE6 was a bit stupid, but we'll see how it pays off for them in the end with DmC and RE6

it was on two consoles. meanwhile dmc1 sold 2.1 on the ps2 alone. if you look at dmc as a series it really is selling poorly and should have done better

capcom you reboot the series becouse you want to sell 5 million unit
and know you want to sell 2 million unit
so what the point of reboot dmc
that what i want to know .

So more people buy it?

It was sort of hard for people to really get into DMC4 unless they had played DMC3 beforehand. Now they make a game that not only fans might be interested, but also people that want to start a game fresh. It's a smart way to make more money with the game. And in doing so, create more fans.

Note that they are expecting that many copies sold in just one fiscal year, DMC4 has 2.6M up to date, apparently. So that means they are expecting in... say, two years to get more than 2M

Well Tameem Antoniades talked so much crap that Capcom changed their mind on their sales expectations.
He ****ed off many people and that affects sale. I bet Capcom staff is thinking "This guy never shuts up".

But all he ever does is say the same thing over and over again.
I'm confused.

All I can think of Tameen being somewhat offensive towards the fans is when he stated things like "Dante isn't cool anymore." Which... I have been a fan of DMC since DMC3 (then I played 1 and then 2 before 4 was released) and I didn't think that was very... offensive in any way. I was like "Oh... ok... I don't really quite see how Dante is not cool by today's standards after just 10 years since DMC1 was released, but whatever..." He probably meant it by "western" standards.

At any rate, that's the only time I ever heard Tameen actually "badmouth" Dante. He has never really called the games bad or the fans stupid for liking the game or anything like that.

So I don't see how his comments would make people less interested in the game... but that's just me.

Fanboys can be very touchy when saying something slightly negative about their fandom.

He actually said that? :O

Yeah, Tameen said something along the lines of "what used to be cool back then isn't cool anymore..." in an old interview I remember watching.
Who is Alex Jones?

The dude on the far left.

IIRC it was alex jones making some snarky comments and alot of people mistook that for tameen time to time.

True, he seems more daring when it comes to bashing DMC since he's from Capcom. Tameen is from NT, it would be rude of him to talk badly of a game he wasn't even involved with.

If you think about it Capcom never said they would sell 5 million copies, just that they wanted to make a game that would, I suppose there is a subtle but notable difference between the two.
