That was painful to read in grey/gray/grai/grae/gree/grei/whatever. I know how it "actually" happened, but I interpreted the scene in a weird way. Like I said, it was a weird interpretation 'cause I'm weird.
But wait, near the end of the story in volume 2 it actually did mention what Nero thought to be the reason behind the change. He figured that perhaps this arm is now how it originally should have been, just like how a caterpillar transforms into a pupa and then a butterfly. (Yeah he made this analogy, not me!) He thought that perhaps he had simply reached that time in his life to be who he really was. O_o… Okay…? LOL. Apparently Capcom/Bingo forgot to explain how his ‘original self’ could have had a demon arm when he’s only a quarter demon (assuming his dad is Vergil as the novel hinted at throughout) as compared to Dante and Vergil who are half demon but look entirely human. But yeah, that’s pretty much the only ‘answer’ (if valid at all in the eyes of fans) Capcom/Bingo gave to explain why Nero’s got that arm.

Thanks for not using grey as a font color. Yeah, Capcom is not that good with stories.

It doesn't have to be a reboot. It could be like that one episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold where Batman goes into an alternate universe and helps fight the evil Batman (Owlman, I think) and Justice League counterpart with Red Hood, Joker's good counterpart.

So it could be an alternate universe, a "What If", etc. It'd be cool though. Dante's the cocky, jackass antagonist while Vergil is the cool, calm, collected protagonist.
Dante has traveled to an alternate timeline before in the 2nd light novel so they could just have Dante use the device from the book again.

How about no. I was talking about wanting a sequel to DMC1, or DMC3. As legit as speculating about "DMC5" which doesn't exist.

The DMC series is fragmented as is. Each game might as well be its own thing, the story is so badly or vaguely connected between the games anyway. Sequel or prequel, you want 'continuity'? Don't hold your breath.
I actually really agree with that point. If they made a DMC5 just ditching the continuity all together would free them up greatly to do more with the story and have a lot more fun and experiment with different ideas.

I've said this at another thread, so now I'm gonna say this here too.

I would just like to put in my two cents on something.

I, for one don't even want a DMC5, but it's not because of the story (though it's one of the reasons but not the main one), it's not about the character, it's because I'm afraid that the original series might die painfully by being milked to death or not selling well like they used to. I mean, if you guys see how the DBZ franchise is doing in its current state, you would clearly understand. If DMC4 did so well by everyone liking it and didn't complain about the story, don'tchu think we would've been playing a DMC5 now instead of DmC? Think about that!

I also agree with some people that no one really asked for DmC, BUT they asked for something new, so this is what they got. Hell, I was also one of the fans who though the original ones were starting to get stale after DMC4. Do I think DmC is the best Devil May Cry game? Not really, as much as I love it. IMO, DMC3>DmC>DMC1>DMC4>DMC2.

So anyways, yeah I hope this is true about the sequel.

Nice to see DmC2 getting the edge in this one... As much as I love the old series and DMC4 for it's gameplay wise. I like this new fresh start of the story and I'm already curious to see the next game.

In the old series only DMC and DMC3 story wise were interesting for me, DMC2 was boring and DMC4 turned me off with all the backtracking and the introducing of Nero, while no answering questions.

Gameplay-wise the game of course can still improve, but hey, look how much DMC3 improved compared to 1 and even more to 2.
