The only reason I care about DMC5 is because of the combat. If DmC2 had the combat of DMC4 then I wouldn't give a crap about the metrosexual-white-haired-pretty-cowboy-boy-cheese fest that is Dante. Seriously, what would they go back to? Vergil returning? I would love to see Nero have his own game and while DMC4 was supposed ot be that game (but the fantards wanted Dante in) it wasn't quite his room to really develop and again, if they did make a game for Nero it wouldn't be a true DMC5.

The DmC series has started and now we have room to explore this universe. What would they be able to make for the DMC5?

I would be cool with both. But DmC had so much potential in it's universe and based from the story, it badly needed a sequel.

Yeah you have a point, DMC4's quest did not seem to matter at all to the overall story of Dante, the only games that seemed to have a plot relevant to him were dmc1 and 3

It was supposed to be about Nero until there were "fan outcries" of Dante not being in the game(what else with new with the community) so they put Dante in. Having Dante in was actually a good idea because it was definitely his finest combat game. Would be nice to see more of Nero but then it would a be a true DMC5 game. What would they make a story out of?
Dante finds news his mother could be alive?
Trish betrays him?
Lady gets killed?
Vergil returns?
All of his demonic weapons take form and become awesome looking bosses?

I'd like a an open world game based off the terrible anime with cell shaded cartoony graphics.

But I also want DmC2 on next gen consoles. Let's hope DmC gets a good ps4 port/special edition with all DLCs included, considering the PS4 will run AMD hardware.

can we please stop with prequels, seriously
How about no. I was talking about wanting a sequel to DMC1, or DMC3. As legit as speculating about "DMC5" which doesn't exist.

The DMC series is fragmented as is. Each game might as well be its own thing, the story is so badly or vaguely connected between the games anyway. Sequel or prequel, you want 'continuity'? Don't hold your breath.

ik but still, there's no point in a story between the first and fourth game, or the fourth and second game, MOVE THE PLOT FORWARD past dmc2, so much potential there, for all we know dante can get killed in hell

Agreed. Dante finding a way out of Hell is a plot that could and should be done if DMC5 ever gets made.

Think about it. Vergil's down there, Trish could follow him down there/get kidnapped or some ****, could meet up with Sparda....there's so many dynamics that make a post DMC2 DMC interesting to try storywise.

Well, I don't really know wich I would want.

DmC has great potential with a sequel, so I would like to see a sequel.

DMC, well, DMC 4 was a disappointment in history side for me, Dante fan service in it killed Nero story, because, in my opinion, DMC could have become a game wich in every game would have a different character, with little connections to Sparda base of course, about a somewhat Demon or angel, or human, or all three who knows, in DMC 4 would be about Nero only, it could have had Dante, but you know, only in cutscenes and a sidequest with 7 missions, without having to stole Nero part, 5 would be about, i don't know some angel chick finding traces of some dude trying to ressurrect mundus and it goes on(thats a very cliche example, but it's an example), like castlevania I think, and sometimes have a cameo, a clever one obviously, with Dante, and others characters, but not making hims teal the spotlight.I say that because the game name is ''DEVIL MAY CRY'' not ''DANTE MAY CRY'', it could have any character, but that's just my distorted view about the whole thing.

But for DMC 5, I would be happy, only if is about Sparda, about him getting more power and eventually falling in love with Eva, this, I think would be cool, really cool, especially if it was mediavalesque(okay, this would be a fan-service for me hehehe)

And very sorry for the bad english, and the bad theory, so, yeah, blushies >

And then Vergil finds out and pretends to be Dante just like how Noah died in Final Fantasy XII and Basch taking Noah's place.

Why this? I don't really know. Maybe it's because of the thing Nero said when he activated his Devil Trigger. To me it seemed like it wasn't Nero talking alone but with Vergil. Quote goes as:
"From that day forth . . . my arm changed . . . and a voiced echoed, 'Power! Give me more power!' and if I become a demon, so be it . . . I'll endure the exile . . . anything . . . to protect her!"

This is going to be a weird interpretation, maybe's it because I'm weird. The first part of "From that day forth" and "my arm changed" is obviously Nero talking, but who knows, maybe it's Vergil as well when he activated his Devil Trigger for the first time; DT Vergil's arm-sheath. Then the voice echoing "Power! Give me more power!" could be both Vergil and a voice in Vergil's head. Now, many people acknowledge Vergil's reason for trying to become more powerful. He wanted to compensate for not being able to protect his mother and probably Dante. Maybe he also wanted to protect humans as well. The other part would just be Vergil saying that line and it echoing in Nero's voice because Vergil wanted power.

Last part of the quote of becoming a demon, enduring exile and protecting "her". Nero obviously loves Kyrie and would do anything to protect her as it is stated in the quote. So if he becomes a demon blah blah blah; it's in the quote. But for some reason, I feel like it's also Vergil saying that. He knew the risks of gaining too much power and he accepted that fact of becoming a demon. He sort of did endure exile; never found his brother until a while, doesn't appear to be close to humanity or have any friends. The "her" is the curious part. It can't be Eva 'cause she's dead, so who's the her? I believe it's Nero's mother if Nero being Vergil's son is canon; it was confirmed, but there are some debates and plot holes. Vergil tried to be like Sparda so much that he sort of did. He emulated his hair style, was more willing to be a demon and accepting of his demonic heritage. Dante on the other hand was stated to only have inherited his father's rebellious spirit, while rejecting his demonic heritage, but then came in terms with it. Back to Vergil, he took it a bit further, he fell in love, like his father, to a human. Vergil found something worthwhile to protect and love. Although he may have clung to the belief that power can protect anything. Vergil is more of a son of Sparda than Dante will ever be.

Edit: After going through a rant, I completely ignored explaining why Vergil would pretend to be Dante. Short story: Vergil sees how much Dante is loved by everyone and tries to make sure no one finds out he's dead by pretending to be Dante. But someone, Lady, figures it's not the real Dante . . .

I wanna see another reboot where Dante is the bad guy and vergil is the good guy.

on topic- DmC2 since i dont think capcom actually cares about continuity and storyline outside of it being a selling point in the west because if they did, the series would not be so vaguely connected or sporadic in its time jumps.

i mean what was the point of jumping back to Dante's youth in 3 if you were just gonna jump forward and have him live vicariously through nero.

The day Nero’s arm changed, he was attacked by an Assault. It was the first time he had seen one. He came into the scene to save Kyrie and a bunch of orphans she brought for a walk in the forest (LOL?). A team of three knights was sent to help (Nero went there on his own) but one of them named Josh ended up dying while trying to shield Kyrie and the kids from a leaping Assault. It wasn’t mentioned when Nero’s arm changed, but it was definitely not during the battle against the Assault. It also didn’t explain how it changed, like whether the skin slowly peeled off and it hurt like *beep*, or whether it magically turned into the demon arm with a matching sound effect. Ultimately lame. In the end, Capcom still never explained the very **** we wanna know.

It doesn't have to be a reboot. It could be like that one episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold where Batman goes into an alternate universe and helps fight the evil Batman (Owlman, I think) and Justice League counterpart with Red Hood, Joker's good counterpart.

So it could be an alternate universe, a "What If", etc. It'd be cool though. Dante's the cocky, jackass antagonist while Vergil is the cool, calm, collected protagonist.

That was painful to read in grey/gray/grai/grae/gree/grei/whatever. I know how it "actually" happened, but I interpreted the scene in a weird way. Like I said, it was a weird interpretation 'cause I'm weird.

But wait, near the end of the story in volume 2 it actually did mention what Nero thought to be the reason behind the change. He figured that perhaps this arm is now how it originally should have been, just like how a caterpillar transforms into a pupa and then a butterfly. (Yeah he made this analogy, not me!) He thought that perhaps he had simply reached that time in his life to be who he really was. O_o… Okay…? LOL. Apparently Capcom/Bingo forgot to explain how his ‘original self’ could have had a demon arm when he’s only a quarter demon (assuming his dad is Vergil as the novel hinted at throughout) as compared to Dante and Vergil who are half demon but look entirely human. But yeah, that’s pretty much the only ‘answer’ (if valid at all in the eyes of fans) Capcom/Bingo gave to explain why Nero’s got that arm.
