Anyone else think that they should make a film for devil may cry

>DMC had great writing

DmC has characters that work with the story it was trying to tell. CONTEXT. Look it up people.

- I didn't say DMC had great writing, I said it had pretty good writing. You must know there's a difference between 'pretty good' and 'great'. O_o

- How does DMC not have characters that work with the story it was trying to tell? Come on, are we seriously going to compare DmC to DMC in terms of plot and style? DmC is not an anime-like game. There's no comparison to be made in that respect. When comparing, say, DMC3 to DmC, you'll realize they both have their own stories to tell. I'm not going to play a game of 'what's better', when both games are totally different from each other.
I'm sure Dante was annoying and an ass because the plot demanded it. I'm sure his character was mediocrely portrayed because the plot demanded it... pffft.

I think the word you're looking for is "bad". DMC has always had pretty bad writing. Fixed.

DmC, granted there are things I would change but it's still solid and the best narrative out of the bunch.

i think that DMC/DmC has always suffered from bad dialogue and poor character development. i believe that the best thing that we can get is something along the lines of underworld or something that feels very 90's and early 2000's esque. the typical movie bad ass with superpowers and no sense of direction in life with an evil twin brother who wants to take over the world and an attractive woman to teach him a sense of morality. i really do wish sometimes that DmC wasn't made and that script was saved for a feature film.

o
That badass scene combining it with this

because Dante always fight Stylish.

Oh god, I love that scene and clip its so ****ing funny and bad ass at the same time, its actually damn good example of the tone a potential DmC/DMC action movie should have.

The whole "oh ****, oh ****, shoot him shoot him" makes the scene just so damn entertaining.

He's totally twosome timing in that scene also.

Okay, imagine this, Kat is in the trunk, and cops are actually humans who are dreamrunners in disguise, and christian bale is actually is dressed and playing Dante, that scene would work just as well and be amazing.

If they actually make it far enough in production to film it (which is a big if) there are a few things I would need to see to not completely hate it.

1. Screen Gems needs to approach it like they approached Underworld in terms of mood and design.
and NOT RE.
2. Actually do their homework on the series and compromise. Instead of choosing one complete canon over the other they should merge them. The style of the old with the plot of the new for example.
3. Vergils character (If included in the film) should be as depicted in three and not in the reboot....this one is mostly personal preference but Vergil did almost nothing in the reboot except for the DLC which basically told us what we had already guessed. Plus his character in 3 did a lot better as a foil to Dante.

Honestly the origins in general are ambiguous enough that anyone with the properly aimed creativity could do wonders in terms of development and with hyper stylized action the series is known for it would probably make a good sale for fans and non-fans so long as the teasers stay subtle.

I wouldn't mind if they came up with their own take like what Lionheart and Dantsanimus was talking about because the cutscenes are all on youtube (both reboot and classic).

It would be interesting to see what they come up with and it would be funny if this new take becomes the basis of a another reboot:whistle:. But thats giving them too much power:cautious:

since the chances of getting a DmC2 are so damn slim, what if the movie is a continuation of DmC? that way, DMC fans get to play the DMC games and DmC fans get to see what happens next.

I think I'd prefer a movie for both,and here's why I think this:

First,a movie explains things better than a game does, because games are more fixed on gameplay rather than story and characters.
Thus,a movie can fix the flaws in DMC's story and characters and maybe clarify what hasn't been told in the games.
(And I'd also like it because think of the special effects) This is for DMC.
As for DmC,I think,if they don't get to make a second game, then a movie should continue it.Pretty simple.

i think the main issue is balancing out the concerns for accessibility since most of the filmgoers would not have played DmC and also making it feel like a continuation of DmC for the filmgoers that did.

Accessibility is a problem DMC has had since most of the stories feel disconnected from each other. Its a good idea to make things accessible but you do wanna give payoff to long term fans(Something the classics never really did well).

Chances they probably wouldn't continue DMC if DmC was made into a movie but its hard to say.

I really don't want a DMC or DmC live-action movie. Because even if they got the characters' looks and personalities right (for which the chances are that silm they're almost non-existant) I doubt they'd get the action scenes right (exept for the gunfights). I've personally never seen a movie that had such over the top action without it looking extremely silly.
Not much of a fan of that mash-up idea either.
And, looking at how most videogame-to-movie movies are - exept for the Ace Attorney one, that was actually pretty good -, big bad NOPE. Wouldn't even want an CGI movie :/

Watch anything by Ryuhei Kitamura or Yuji Shimomura and you'll see exactly how a live action Devil May Cry would be, because Yuji Shimomura was the dude who directed the action sequences and choreography for DMC3 and DMC4

It's funny because there's really no way most of that stuff doesn't look silly unless it's done with CG or in a game's engine. DMC4's opening fight scene between Dante and Nero is really cool and all, but would look so ridiculous it would dance itself right into silly territory.
