Anyone else think that they should make a film for devil may cry

DmC is basically Constatine with strands of They Live.
DMC would suck if translated onto movie screens faithfully, its annoyingly anime-esqe and its no Akira, Paprika or any of the handful of good anime films.

to be honest, I dont really see Classic DMC as having the same difficulties as DBZ as the only aesthetic problems would be just Dante's hair and wardrobe which could be easily fixed.

Dante seems to be an easier character to appeal to an older American audience as he does fall under the lovable rogue archetype (Han Solo, Jack Sparrow, Gambit, Iron Man, Rick from Casanova etc) so that something could be used to market the franchise.

Plus the franchise is rather light on worldbuilding and backstory since you dont know a ton about the world outside of dante's office, his past or even the time in between games(stories) so you could just the movie in between the gaps (like between 3 and 1 or a year before 3)

The white hair shouldn't be a problem since their has been plenty of characters in film/western media with white hair and as for outfits I think his DMC2 outfit is more fitting and a good reference point for a good and fitting design considering how it mimicks common superhero outfits or western hero outfits with the DMC1 outfit outline.

I think that outfit in the ps3 trailer would work a little better on screen than the DMC1 outfit because it looks a little more modern than Dante's retro 18th century get up.

they probably are gonna stick the movies in the modern era rather than keep the bizarro anachronisms of the anime so that might fit more.

I should still think of the movie Matrix style. Dante is "Neo".

After his hair gets switched from black to white. He'll need a new clean outfit. Perhaps like the DMC1 outfit... but something western. Almost matching.

Ryan Reynolds could play a good DMC1 Dante with the proper direction.

Anyone who's seen "X-men Origins: Wolverine" will know why.

''On February 28, 2011, it was announced that Screen Gems, the company responsible for making Capcom video game series Resident Evil into a film series, had purchased feature film rights to the Devil May Cry series. It has been stated that Kyle Ward will be writing the script for the film. It has also been confirmed by Capcom at E3, that the film will be based on the new game, DmC: Devil May Cry, though Dante's look will stay more true to his classic self. The film is being positioned as an origin story for Dante.''

To me, this is fairly bad news, considering I don't really enjoy DmC's world. I think the movie might become a really bad 'illuminati' or 1984 type of story, with Mundus literally watching society through tv screens like in DmC. I don't find it original at all. They have the chance of making it revolve around actual badass demons and angels, and I hope they won't forget that. I hope it's not going to be a hackneyed 'critique on modern society'.

But then, all they said is that it's based on DmC, so maybe the world will look better, and maybe the characters will be less obnoxious, and hopefully there won't be that many clichés.
And what in the original series wasn't cliche and just bad storytelling? Yea, DMC has great gameplay that makes up for its always less than stellar everything else. If DMC didn't have the gameplay it had, it wouldn't have made it very far.

There is more of a actual movie plot in DmC and here's something, nothing is original anymore.

DMC is even less original than DmC.

DmC just seems like your standard scifi fantasy fling. The passive aggressive fist secretly controlling the world. A story that is in the cultural conscience and will always pop up every now and then.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the better done story and characters are in DmC. Hey, my favorite version of Dante is the original version of him but even I will not deny how weak of a character he is and if anything my nostalgic heartstrings is really what defines my decision.

What's DMC? A bunch of anime cliches and straightforward story lines with characters about as complex as coloring books. DMC 3 in a nutshell is Inuyasha May Cry and 4, Bleach May Cry taking place in Castlevania backdrops that must have been on some back burner.

DmC is the better and more obvious choice to take more inspiration from when it comes to film.

I also DARE you to tell me that Limbo would not look f#cking awesome in motion on the big screen with some kickass demon slaying action going on.

There is a Japanese movie that was released back in 2000 called Versus. That movie reminds me a to about Devil May Cry.
Dude, I thought I was the only one who seen Versus. That movie is f#cking great. I picked it up for like 5 bucks at the mall spontaneously not knowing what it was and was happy I did.

- That's one of the reasons why I don't want to see any more of that. To be honest, I haven't seen many movies deal with actual demons, angels and such. Well, Constantine comes to mind, but I found that movie to be somewhat lacking. If I had the choice between something simple on one side and something as annoying as the whole ''society is being controlled by secret organizations [insert fifty exclamation marks here]'' on the other, I'd choose the simple, no nonsense approach every time.
Cliché or not, it's all in the eye of the beholder. DmC and DMC seem equally hackneyed to me, only they're hackneyed in different respects. I'd be fine with a movie that just focuses on Dante trying to seal the hell gate(s), instead of a conspiracy theory with clichés like an 'evil, bald gangster' type of thing (Mundus).

- Yeah, the plot was done better, but in the end, DMC and DmC aren't too different from each other, in my opinion. DMC had a badly explained story with anime-like characters and pretty good writing, whereas DmC has a decent story with annoying characters and mediocre writing. So, in terms of story/plot, it could go either way for me.

DmC has characters that work with the story it was trying to tell. CONTEXT. Look it up people.
