How should we know yet? We only know a little about it, from what has been shown.

That's a vague term, unless you mean to ask whether or not Jesus of Nazareth is in the game...

I remember there was a good bit of Christian imagery in the classic series. Characters' names alluding to saints, other characters being ancient demons, etc.

Name anything, other than war, that does.
love, compassion, respect, ...
those were the fundamental aspects of many religions.
I don't think there has ever been Christian values in Devil May Cry, many elements like names come from religions...they got the idea from religions but it doesn't mean that their aims are to promote those religions.
A value is something that people want to promote, I'm not saying devil may cry doesn't convey any moral value at all, just that those values have never been dictated by a specific religion and apparently never will, for both DMC and DmC.

Can the OP explain what they mean by "values", please? Before this ends up as another rather pointless "religion r ghey" sort of thread?

Would perhaps the term "denotations" be more appropriate, given that many religions hold the same values, not just Christianity. Indeed, many of those without a belief in anything can hold what are considered to be traditionally religious values so perhaps we're talking more about the sort of things that indicate Christianity in game (crosses, angels, demons, churches etc) rather than the actual value system the belief holds?

EDIT: semi-ninja'd by Danteredgrave ;)

I think the values that the game are trying to promote are those of anti-establishment, freedom, deviation and expression. It seems to promote concepts of social awareness, personal power and responsibility as well. I think the term "Fight the power" well describes this game's attitude. Fundamentalism, religious morality, or otherwise, is as far from what DmC is about than anything. Adding specifically religious values to a story not pro any specific religion would take away from that tone. This is a game about toppling gods, not uplifting them.

I think we should wait and see. If their is, I'm not gonna care. I'm a Christian and I really don't care if the misuse God's name cause I don't care. I doubt they will though since this game is focusing on rebellion against the demon society.

Note: I mean no offense to Christians or any religion when I write the following, please excuse me if I sound harsh

Really I never did like the idea of a "God", it always ****ed me off. The reason? God is said to be a fair and free ruler, who loves all and cares for all equally, and treats every last one of his people with respect. Well if thats the case then why is it the exact opposite.
According to most religions, We all have to kiss some God's ass or else the world will never be good, and that's what ****es me off. Half the time The "Proof" they use to prove a God exist, is that a man prayed and survived cancer or something, the ironic part is that there were millions of other people who tried it and died. Why didn't this make the news because "Man prays and dies." is not a very good title for an article now is it.

That is another thing I think is stupid. People think they can stop wars, or save people's lives. Just by praying, well according to both common sense and science that won't work. get off your ass and do something
Now don't get me wrong, I support Christian charities and stuff that help homeless people. But according to different religions. If I punch someone, or if I die without an Aztec spear through my chest, or if I eat freaking pork, I'm going to hell.

Not happening.

This is also why I love games where you kill gods. It is rebellious, and righteous at the same time. I actually like rebellious characters, when they are actually rebellious for a reason.

So unless we get to kill both Yahweh and Lucifer in cold blood I don't think this game should have any connections to Christianity

As my mother said to someone who´s against God:
It´s not God´s fault for people using religion for their own gain.

In the movie "Book of Eli" you seen how someone wants to get the last copy of Bible.
Because the villain considered the book to be a "weapon" to control people

Islam and Christan religion preaches good messages.
But it´s the people who misinterpret it, and often they do it consciously. for their own gain.

A minister in Florida (because of his ignorance) wanted to burn the holy Quran (muslim´s holy book).
I don´t know about you but a good christen would´t do that.

And i get back to my point: It´s humans not God that is the problem.
Don´t blame god for actions of man just like you should´t blame a ENTIRE people for actions of 1 individual.

DMC has never really been based on the christian creed or canon, it's mythology was it's own. Almost the same way Odin Sphere isn't really norse.

This new one seems to take more from the christian myth with the addition of Lilith and angels. But valews, not so much. This is a vengence story; Dante's not in it for the moral right. He never did seem as self rightious as he did in 1 in any of the other games.

If the question is: will the game be use as a device to teach you how to behave according to the Christian ideals?

So far the hero is a sexual deviant, the least we can say is that Christianity has always been against it. (I've also heard that oriental societies suffered from less sexual taboos in their history because they were not subjected to the Christian doctrine)
If someone spots a value which is also present in the Christian behavioral ideals (after we get to know the game better) it won't mean that it has been put into the game on purpose if their are no specific clues to indicate that...
And I don't think the one who asks the question wants to be given the following answer:
yes, they happened to unconsciously and randomly endow the game with this or that Christian value...
