Piccolo and krillin also had the chi ability and still they were no match for saiyans who were PHYSICALLY stronger.. so in the end physical strength is what determines the Ki output.

Well obviously DBZ universe isn't exactly like real life but Goku's body is theoretically physical and he draws his chi from it so inferring that his chi output is not finite doesn't make any sense because Goku's body clearly has limits and therefore according to basic physics he cannot exert more force than he can withstand.
Chi acts more like an extension of Goku's physical strength when he goes super saiyan his physical strength also greatly increases.
Goku's kaiokenX4 and Goku's SSJ3 forms highly disagree with this conclusion.
And the fact Goku never had any problems with SSJ3 when he was dead proves my point that goku is limited by his physical body.
Wargreymon also forms a "Spirit bomb like attack" but i don't think it has anything to do with this DBZ or chi.
The same reason why humans don't prefer to wear body armor 24/7.
Gohan's base form is stronger than SSj3 Goku and plus he doesn't need to transform either!
Goku body definitely is limited to physical laws and Ki comes from his body so yeah it is.
So if Goku stays dead and uses kaioken with his super saiyan 4 he just might have a fighting chance against someone like superman because he would keep getting stronger and stronger as the fight goes on without tiring his body out.
Well he clearly never withstood such attacks a full powered kamehameha fired at point black range was more than enough to kill cell only if he didn't have piccolo's DNA that is.
So when did goku actually take blasts that were as intense as final flash&Point blank super kamehameha?
Oh yes.. of course when he took attacks of that intensity HE DIED both times!
Now i'm not going to debate over whether it was the lack of oxygen that killed him or not... i'm pretty damn sure planetary explosion+Ki Attack of this magnitude is more than enough to kill goku.
Also yes gohan has no power drain because he doesn't transform.
Goku was a lot weaker than cell at that time so its not possible for goku survive that attack.
People can easily hurt themselves if they want to,its just that the million years of evolution and basic survival instinct won't let us do that.

The term "withstand" is relative more coherent explanation would be to that they cannot produce more chi than than their bodies would allow them to.
