THE MATH OF DANTE'S AGE
Dante is supposedly 19 in DMC3.
DMC3 manga is set 1 year before DMC3. (Dante= 18)
DMC3 manga implies Eva was killed 10 years before the manga (18-10= 8 years old when Eva died)
DMC1 is 20 years after Eva dies (8+20= DMC1 Dante is around 28)

So unless DMC4 is one year or less after DMC1, Dante is indeed older than 29. According to Kobayashi, the games director, Dante is approaching 40 in DMC4, which would make DMC4 more like 5-10 years after DMC1. Since he intended Dante to be almost 40 he likely instructed the artists to portray him that way, hence he appears in t he range you described. He didn't however think that through, because he said Lady is in her 20's in DMC4, and if you played DMC3, you'll see Lady isn't that much younger than Dante. It is possible she is in her late 20's and Dante is "approaching" 40 at a bigger distance than you would assume, but it's still rather sketchy.

What. The. HELL?! So, Dante ages faster than humans then? Lady was a year, maybe two years, younger than him in DMC3, period. She looked damn young to me in DMC4. So how come she can be in her 20s and Dante close to his forties, if they were BOTH kids in DMC3?
I don't get it. It hurts my head trying to figure it out. Sparda was talking about logic. WHAT LOGIC?!

I'm so disappointed in Capcom! I don't understand why they can't keep their story straight!! Seriously? Honestly? Is it really THAT hard? They are professionals? They get paid to write like this??

This ****es me off because I don't EVER get paid to write ANYTHING, and these morons are making their livelihoods writing about as well as the worst fan fic writer on the internet! I could write circles around them, and never have any trouble keeping the story straight, period. I bet everyone else here could, too!

Yeah, that's right.

Well, Capcom has no logic in this. He was portrayed to look like in his 40s, but he's definitely 29.

Sparda was right about fans thinking Dante is About 40 BECAUSE THEY'VE ALL READ IT FROM INTERVIEWS WITH KOBAYASHI!
However, i have typed in on google Kobayashi, Dante's age (cr*p like that) and there are no suitable results that answer the debated topic of Dante's age.

Glad we agree.

I'm adamant and will remain so about It, because simply It is true.

Kobayashi stated Dante would be in his 40s, appearance-wise. His real age is another matter, which is simply demonstrated by that link Clairavance posted here - which tells the same things I've been telling for pages and pages all along this thread.

DMC3(Manga) D/V are 18 Lady is 17.
DMC3 D/V are 19 Lady is 18
DMC1 Dante is 28
DMC Anime Dante is still 28
DMC4 Dante is 29 or 30
DMC2 Dante is unknown...

That's what I got when I started to do the math with the info that was given out.

Finally!

That's what I've been trying to say here too, to all of here present.

When Kobayashi stated that Dante was was in his 40's that was way before the story of DMC4 changed. Actually that was before any game play or screens were shown and the only thing that was shown was just very early concepts(the concept art with Nero,Lady,Trish,Dante and Nelo Angelo in the background.)Then recently in the last interview for DMC4 after the game is released he claims that Lady has only aged about 10 years after DMC3 in DMC4. So naturally Dante is 29-30 in DMC4.

Thank you, Zato.

Uh, glad I could help.

Welcome...

Just that, I was being mislead by that 40s thing too, until you cleared this up. Makes perfect sense.

WN: Did you want to introduce some of these other characters?

HK: Nero and Kyrie are the two key players in the story. We’ve put them in a love story-type situation. Nero belongs to a group called The Order of the Sword and they worship Dante’s father as a kind of diety, even though he’s a demon. Nero’s childhood friend [Kyrie]’s older brother is one of the higher-ups in the group, a leader. The sexy Gloria, and the researcher Agnus are also higher members of The Order of the Sword.

Because a big part of the fan base is guys, we always put in a nice sexy character, hence Gloria. In the past we’ve used Trish, who is a recurring character, and also Lady. Lady appeared in 3, and now she’s about ten years older than she was in that one, but she’s grown up very nicely, as you’ll see.

I rest my case. Also this isn't even the interview I was talking about. But he also confirms this again in the last interview for this game.
