@Vergilius Recreating the impact of A New Hope is impossible. That's when Star Wars was completely new and foreign to audiences everywhere...there's no way they can recreate that with Force Awakens without inflicting a mass memory wipe.
I'm in the shrinking opinion who liked II and III just as much as the OG Trilogy (an opinion I share with my est 70's Star Wars Fan Dad), but I still hope these new movies don't make the same undeniable mistakes. There are, however, all new ones they can make on their own.
I enjoyed 1, loved 2 (because I was angsty at the time and had a crush on my own hard-to-get padme) and was blown away by the third.
I even loved the needless lightsaber twirling in the final fight -- it made me believe that the two jedi needed to work up momentum to go at each other. XD
@LordOfDarkness I know, I was just saying. This series has always revolved around a very simple story and mythos with layers of visceral, jaw-dropping spectacle layered around it...but the most impressive narrative feats of the Star Wars Saga have happened OUTSIDE the movies...in things like KOTOR, or the Clone Wars TV show.
@Vergilius I liked I's final fight and all of II: Obi-Wan's investigation, Shmi's death, Anakin's rage, and the War on Geonosis. And III would become my favorite one ever. Btw, you aren't alone...Padme still ignites my lightsaber. It just sucks we never got HER in the Slave Outfit, especially when she was captured on Geonosis. That was a WASTED opportunity, if you ask me.
@Blackquill Hell yeah, man. They're flawed films, but they aren't joyless, Last Airbender-tier messes that stuck-up fans make them out to be. The Prequels ruled. And that's also the opinion of my bonafide SW Fan Dad, who's seen EVERY movie on premiere since '77, and introduced me to them in proper, unedited order. So if anyone acts like only the "next generation" could ever like them, they're 100% full of it.
