New development for Kyrie in DMC6?

Any ideas on more development for Kyrie's character?

How about having Kyrie get caught in a crossfire attack or something, which puts her in the hospital? Even lose an arm (I'd go for the left)?

I can imagine Nico giving Kyrie her own Devil Breaker to replace her lost arm. While Nero & Nico are away, as she looks after children, she can take up a DB similar to Sweet Surrender.

I like the idea of giving Kyrie a bit more credit than simply a damsel in distress but If she were to show her strength it would have be be in a way where she isn’t imitating her boyfriend that’s just.... wrong.

"I like the original idea of Kyrie being a villain so that's gonna be the lynchpin of my 5 game epic saga.

Move over Xehanort, there's a new Big Bad in town.

Embrace the convoluted nonsense, y'all"

This was from another thread and i was half joking/half serious when i said it.

It's inspired by Willow of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She was one of Buffy's closest friends but becomes an antagonist in season 6. If you rewatch the show you can see some hints in earlier seasons so its something I'd like to emulate.

So it would be a subplot for the next few games.

I could imagine that Kyrie be brainwashed by Mundus' offspring or a new demon/demoness. Turn Kyrie again Nero. Either next game or after.

Right now, I can only see Kyrie as a supportive character. She has no power, and her personnality is set to your average ultra kind girl in DMC 4 (and she almost doesn't exist in DMC 5). Just flipping her into a villain won't do, and having her kidnapped as the main event for Nero to go and save her would be DMC 4 all over again.

She need to go outside and be confronted to hard choices while not having the game being all over her. Like having her adopted kids being lost during an demon invasion, and Nero busy trying to stop the invasion so she can't just call him to do things for her. She then would go alone to try to take back the kids.

Maybe having Vergil return in the human world and being in Fortuna, and choosing to help her as he try to change his attitude. At this point, neither Vergil or Kyrie would know each others, so Kyrie would be afraid of Vergil ruthless actions and lack of emotion. But she would guide him through the city and try to stop him when he's being ruthless. At the end, Kyrie would have to make an hard choice, like either saving the 3 kids or saving a bunch of Fortuna's people (like 10 of them, adult and kids). And no time to think since Vergil would choose the lesser evil and save the maximum amount of people and already being on his way to save the biggest group. So she would stop him and ask him to go for her kids instead, which Vergil would do, and condamn the other group.

That's somewhat of a generic hard decision, but Kyrie is such a blank character that I can't think of anything else for her.

Nahh thats too simple and absolves her off responsibility.

I'm talking a more genuine heel turn.

@Hungry Alien has a point tho. Because she was too much of a satellite character in 4, she doesn't have much to offer the series outside of her connection to Nero.

What about turning Kyrie into a Devil Huntress? Imagine the Letty story in Fast & Furious with Jill Valentine in RE5.

She can wield a rapier named after her brother and a crossbow.

She can't just suddenly be a devil hunter. She has no demonic power, or years of training and experience.

Maybe give her a moment where she gets to save herself. I dunno, maybe Nero taught her how to use a gun so she could defend herself somewhat. But I don't see anything more then that. Not every character's meant to be a fighter.

Honestly you're overcomplicating it.

Just have Lady teach her some basic self-defense and first aid.

Problem with Kyrie is that she is just a normal human... so when demons get going, her only option is to hide. As already pointed out, she has no training or physical ability for combat, especially against demons.

Best I can think of is that somebody finds a demonic artifact controlled by singing, and so we get Kyrie as a support-type combatant (akin to V in DMC5). Would also work for coop with her supporting Nero.

Now, this is not necessarily required to develop her as a character... but how many of the cast are developed as characters? Only combatants, or people who work close to them. Kyrie, as she is, can be neither. You could have her as a healer... but normal human-style healing aids will be fairly useless to demons and part-demons, and Lady had been handling her own first aid for quite a while now. And turning her into typical-style throw-it-down fighter also would not work (see first paragraph). So yeah... this remote-control-by-singing is the only way I see. It might however open a way for some interesting mechanics: e.g. unlocking a bonus missions by a system where each key produces a note, and you have to sing a short song (by typing it out) in order to unlock a bonus mission, open hidden doors etc.

YYH's Chapter Black starts out with a bunch of people spontaneously awakening psychic powers. It's a side effect of the bad guy's scheme so something like that could happen in DMC somehow.

So Kyrie could benefit from that and you could incorporate @Picard 's singing idea.

Wait, what? You all meant character development for combat purposes? I know this is an action franchise but why does everyone want to turn every single person with more than 3 lines of dialogue into a fighter? I've seen a few of these even for Patty and Enzo but what for? The games are already over crowded with potential playable characters and total bad asses and when absolutely everyone is special then no one is. And Kyrie? She's a singer and a glorified daycare attendant, why make her a fighter? You want to give her character development give her her own wants. The most basic of human instinct is to want. Does she want to be a teacher, a wife, a mother, a singer. Does she want an education, to paint, cook, travel. What does she want? Start there.

Even teach her how to defend herself and the orphans. Learn how to use a gun like Nero's Blue Rose and use the dagger Trish used as Gloria. She doesn't have to be a fighter.

will I agree, somehow Kyrie character needs some moments now and then, like in dmc5 all her moments were a phone calls and calling for diner? her character is not meant to be a fighter but maybe some heroic moments like a gun shot that save Nero's back or something like that could make her more stunning character than being only a girlfriend of Nero, does not need to be badass or something but giving her some light in the story may give some more interest into her .

Does every teacher? Even in dangerous neighborhoods? I know that saying it's unrealistic is not a solid argument on this franchise but it's not.

Funny thing is Kyrie would make a better RE protagonist than a DMC one. You could have her be a small-town woman who wants to find her cop boyfriend---just in the middle of a bio-terrorist attack or supernatural occurrence.

That would be nice. Something in the vein of "heroes are ordinary people thrown into extraordinary situations". She has generally had Nero around to handle heavy lifting, so it would be interesting to explore what she could be capable of on her own - especially as she herself likely isn't aware of her own limits just yet.

If they wanna kill Kyrie off, a better way to handle it would be to bring her back as a ghost. You could have Nero kill the villain in the opening level and the rest of the game is stopping his/her group's scheme while trying to find a way to bring her back.

Her being a ghost allows her to have some role in gameplay and opens her up as a character. It allows from some more nuanced discussion as Nero could be proven wrong for trying to bring her back.

Other than that Kyrie would benefit most if Nero got a spinoff anime. You could focus more closely on Kyrie because you get a chance to do more non-combat related stories and don't have to balance gameplay demands.

Didn't some leaks say she was running an orphanage?

If you want to make a non-combatant into a fighter, you're better off choosing Patty giving her family's magical lineage. Kyrie is fine as a non-combatant.
