Taking Lordofdarkness' advice (After the Raiden vs Wolverine thread, started to turn into chatter about Wolvie's character and his origin)
Just a thread talking about the ol'canucklehead. From comics, to cartoons, movies, games ect.
So if you've been living under a rock since 1974, here's James 'Logan' Howlett aka Wolverine
So Wolverine was created by Len Wein, who was simply instructed to make a character, named Wolverine, who was short (Wolverine's official height is listed as 5'3.......though these days he seems to usually be drawn as 5'9 - 6'0) Canadian (as Marvel had a large fanbase in Canada, and decided to create a Canadian superhero, to which I say "Thank you, Marvel") with a fierce temper
Wolvie officially deputed in 1974 where he was introduced as a superhuman agent of the Canadian government, dispatched to fight the Incredible Hulk
After that, the character didn't appear again until Giant Sized X-Men in 1975, when several new members were added to the X-Men to make the team more diverse (The in-story reason was the original team was captured, and they needed new X-men to save them). Colossus (Russian), Nightcrawler (German), Storm (African) and Wolverine himself (Canadian) being the 4 who have remained members in most adaptations since
(Notice, the different mask, this is because the cover artist drew Wolverine's mask wrong, however Dave Cockrum liked the mask, as it reminded him of Batman, and so it became Wolverine's new look)
As a mutant, Wolverine's powers include a regenerative healing factor (which also makes him immune to earthly diseases and toxins, and enhances his physical capabilities, giving him some measure of enhanced strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and stamina, and slowing down his aging process) he also possesses animal keen senses, of sight, smell, and hearing. His trademark ability ofcourse are a set of foot long retractable bone claws, 3 in each arm, that extended from the back of his hands, sharp and dense enough to cut wood, stone, and even some metals
As part of a procedure to make Wolverine the ultimate weapon, his entire skeleton was molecularly bonded to an artificial metal called Adamantium, making his bones virtually unbreakable, further enhancing his strength to the point of being able to lift up to 2 tons, and sharpening his claws to being able to cut virtually any solid surface, depending on the amount of force he exerts (He's been able to cut the Incredible Hulk, the God of Thunder Thor, and most impressively, the Mad Titan Thanos....Yes he could probably cut Superman)
Oh and in addition to his powers. Wolverine is also a master strategist (with over a century in training as a soldier, samurai, assassin, a spy, in black ops, and his years as a superhero)
An expert tracker, an expert swordsmen and marksmen. And a master martial artist (One of the best in the Marvel Universe, alongside Captain America, and Taskmaster)
