Is there a way to get your save file back?

So... here's the thing. My internet crashed yesterday evening and I tried starting up DmC (without internet) and it said that there was no save file.

By the way, the weirdest thing happened. I launched the game and when it got to the 'press enter' menu I could press whatever the heck I wanted, but it was stuck. I had to restart my laptop, because the entire thing froze.

So anyway, when I launched it for the 2nd time, yet again, it said that there was no save file. I still didn't have internet so I didn't know what to do besides yell: FUUUUUUUDGE and play the first mission.

Now, when I closed the game again, a little Steam pop-up said that there was an old save file and that I shouldn't have launched the game or else that one might be gone. (Thanks for telling me that afterwards, Steam.)

Anyway, I just wanted to ask if there was a way to dig up my old save file. I love the game, but I put like 125 hours into it already and I simply don't feel like going on another scavenger hunt for the collectibles and getting all the upgrades. :/

If there's no way, I guess I've got no other choice besides power through it.

that's nice. It sucks when you put hours upon hours into game only to lost it in the end. Happened to me in Dark Souls

I didn't do anything to get it back though. I guess in the future I will refrain from launching the game when my internet is down.
