Are they still working on DmC?

How much better would it look on next gen? maybe a consistent 60fps with slightly better visuals and a sorter development time?

I can't say I agree with this. There is definitely a aesthetic to the game but in terms of visual quality I don't believe it's as gorgeous as a next gen game. From what I've seen even on PC the game is still got it's flaws, quite a few of them, in fact. Yeah, it's visually busy but nothing that I'd say 'better than next gen.' I honestly think it fits quite well with current gen.

I agree too. DmC is visually colorful and full of a lot of things, but compared to somethings I've seen of next gen games, it's lacking.

However in terms of actual color and all around settings with Limbo, DmC is better...for now.
If you haven't played it on PC, it will make you say woah, the pc version looks glorious and next gen, especially the facial animations and what not. So, all they hvae to do is release the pc version on the next gen consoles with some additional stuff like vergil's bloody palace, more costumes, turbo mod, etc.

Anyway, I'll record some uncompressed footage 60fps and upload it to download, and you can see what it would look like on a next gen console if you haven't experienced the PC version running in its full glory.

This is the game running at 2560 x 1600 that's literally 4x the size of the resolution you guys on consoles are playing at. That means I can fit 4 DmC's on my monitor at 720P, you really have to see the game on a decent computer at high resolution to know that if this is how it looked on a PS4 or Xboxone, which are honestly still weaker than a modern PC, it will look next gen. I mean very few games have such great facial animations and skin maps.

Ninja Theory have had to deny claims (link) that they will quit the console market in favour of mobile development today.

Today it has been reported that Ninja Theory will exclusively pursue mobile gaming development in the future, however it is important to state that these reports are inaccurate. Although we are excited by mobile opportunities, and the release of our first mobile title Fightback, we are not making the transition to a mobile only studio.

"We are currently developing for both console and mobile platforms and plan to do so for the foreseeable future. We believe that the future is digital for all gaming, be it console, mobile or any other platform, and this was the intended meaning of the comments that have been reported on.

NT is just like a magnet for people to report absurd rumors. Good to know, that they are focusing on digital distribution going forward, that's one of the reason's Witcher 1 and 2 were so successful as well.

JESUS THOSE ARE ****ING GORGEOUS.

I can honestly say that the PC version of DmC could be easily passed off as a next gen game if it were to be released on the new consoles. Yet another reason to build a gaming pc man. These are ****ing gorgeous!

Most of the next gen games i've seen don't even compare to that
Where are you checking next gen? PS4 and X1 games look gorgious, they really have CG film quality, so much so that I am crapping to see the next Final Fantasy.

Anyway, why isn't DmC next gen quality? The textures pop in and out, the shadows on the PS3 leave a terrible pattern in the shadows, nether the backgrounds or characters aren't so high quality that it could makes them as pretty as PS4/X1 game, yeah, it looks great, but it's not the best looking game even on current counsels, shadows don't always exists and aside for the frame rate issue there is nothing in the game that obviously couldn't be done by current gen games.

I think it's that the reason that this debate is going on is because the background in the game is so busy. The game is never still when in limbo and it's certainly fun to watch.

What framerate issue...? The game runs at a locked 30fps on consoles. I've never had any slowdown.

The issue of running at 30 and not 60 fps. If it was such a triviality it wouldn't make people mad that the PC version does and the council version doesn't. It's a thing, people care about it, let's not pretend people don't want a high frame rate.

It is trivial. The game was perfectly fine at 30fps, and because of it, we got awesome animated backgrounds, too.

If people are mad at the PC version allowing 60fps, then they should get mad about it being able to play at higher resolutions, too. I mean, c'mon, you come to expect the PC games having the capability to have better performance than console releases.

But, it's wasn't an "issue," it was a design choice :/

However, we're also arguing on the subject of something complained about by the same people who b!tched about something as trivial as weapon icons always being on screen - "Oh cool, so now they think we can't remember what weapons we have on."

Yeah that's all good, but I can't say it was "Perfectly" fine. Yeah being at 30 made it really nice and the environment stand out, but it still had its obvious bugs in shading of characters and some freeze up seconds due to so much going on with only few frames.

Yeah, the PC version holds out better and at 60fps the game is a lot more playable, but even so the PC has its small issues as well. But for me, those issues are so small that I don't consider them a major problem.

A design choice that would have some issues because it's running on 30fps.

People complained about that? Really? What was to complain about when keeping up with the weapons would be easier for the player.

That's why. Apparently it stemmed from the HUD holding the player's hand, reminding them of what they have, instead of urging them to remember.

It's the same thing about complaints regarding Hight Time being its own button - "Oh what? Was holding R1+Back+Triangle too hard for some of you?"

This is why I'm so severely jaded by the people who were so adamantly against DmC, I saw literally some of the dumbest sh!t come out of their mouths...

Final Fantasy does indeed look good, and I'm not sure what kind of gameplay mechanic it is, if its really just a series of scripted sequences with rpg battles or what not, but even so, I'll be surprised if its 1080p and 60fps, I'm positive it will 30fps when its released. Aside from that, what actual games are you talking about? That look so gorgeous that you've actually played at 60 fps, I'm sorry to burst peoples bubbles but the next gen consoles are probably weaker than my computer. I doubt you'll even see a fluid character action game like DmC running at 60 fps at my resolution which is much higher than 1080p.

For example, Xbox barely has games that even hit 60 fps 1080p, their only character action game is Ryse, which still runs at 900p, is 30fps, and apparently chugs at points. The point is DmC is very next gen looking because of the animations and the art style. I don't think you understand the resolution at which I've taken those pictures. The next gen consoles wouldn't even be able to RUN DmC at 60fps at that resolution.

Also, you have to keep in mind all those CGI looking games aren't games and they rarely will look like that when you actually play them. DmC looks like this now, on my pc, and it runs well above 60fps at all times. I think in a few years yes, there will be an amazing looking combo based action game like DmC, but for now, this would look better than 90% of similar games. I mean compare this to Infamous, I'd argue compared to the PC version infamous doesn't look that much better than DmC, and we still dont' know if its running at 30 fps or 60 fps.

By that logic, DMC3 shouldn't have reminded me that I have swordmaster by putting a red ball in my health bar. Better yet DMC as a series shouldn't have a health bar or a DT bar because "IT'S LIKE THEY THINK WE CARE ABOUT HOW MANY HITS WE GOT SO THAT WE DON'T DIE!! STUPED NINJA THERY!! DERP DERP!"

Honestly that's a pretty stupid complaint.

Some were reasonable like the game being on 30fps will cause a few gliches, or the easier ememies. But then there are those questions ha make me despise our fandom like actually HATING the voice actor who played Dante and saying that he's a terrible actor and doesn't deserve to be in any other movie or game. Or even wishing Ninja Theory would simply close down and die and all the workers of NT would lose their jobs and become homeless JUST because they made ONE game that they don't like.

XV is essentially an open world Kingdom Hearts-style action/RPG. A lot of what looked scripted in its debut trailer at E32013 was really just showing off crazy events that happen while you have complete control of your character.

This gameplay trailer shows the game's combat off much easier...

I'd also like to attest to seeing video of OppWri's footage running at a higher framerate, which it's just impossible for YouTube to do since it bumps everything down to 30fps anyway. It does look really good at a high fps, much like almost anything at a higher fps :p

Some were reasonable

Oh sure, of course there were, I'm just saying that it's just insane how low some of it went.

Yeah, Final Fantasy does look amazing. I haven't played FF since ten, but I might give this one a shot, hopefully it comes out PC. Square-Enix have been very good with ports recently,.

You know, that footage does actually look like 60 fps, wonder if its running on a PC. :p.

Well, with how Square is tackling game development, it's a possibility that XV will be on PC, because they're plans going forward this gen are to make their games with their new engine on the PC, which they can then optimize separately for each platform, so no more poopy Xbox360 game upgraded on the PS3, or no good PS3 game ported badly on the Xbox360 (and next gen consoles, obviously).

I heard most of the games shown off at E3 were running on PCs rather than the consoles they were shown off for. I also heard microsoft was trying to sell xbox ones to people at the wii u event

Yeah, for some, they were candid about it, and just showing off the games' existence, but...for others, like Microsoft, they were claiming all their games were running on Xbox One, when...they weren't.

That's what brought up Square talking about their development ideas going forward, building via the engine on a high end PC, and then being able to optimize each platform's release. It also brought question of whether they'd release something like XV on PC, to which they gave a slightly positive "maybe."

Wouldn't surprise me.

And so far the Xbone's launch is sounding kinda iffy. My friend alone over at Brothers Insanity had several full system crashes and then the UI was freezing and crashing every two minutes >.<
