Question about Eva

So, Eva's dead and Mundus killed her, but why does she appear to Dante during those 'dream sequences'? Especially after he unlocks the devil trigger, she appears and talks to him. Is she a dream he's having, or a memory he is remembering? Maybe she's still around in spirit form?
Just thought I'd throw this question out to you guys to see what you all think because I'm not sure. ^_^

most likely a spirit recording, to give the character some closure, i have a theory that in vergil's downfall, vergil will get one from sparda

And hopefully Sparda will just give Vergil a big middle finger like Dante did with Bob Barbas except he'll be wearing a top hat, monocle, and curly mustache and nothing else. No pants. No shoes. No shirt. NOTHING.

I just assumed it was her spirit contacting him once his powers were fully wakened and he was most likely to hear her. It didn't seem like any form of recording, to me. Just her reaching out to him when he was most open.
