You all do realise Capcom wants DmC to break two million THIS YEAR, right?

That's not to say DmC has a whole twelve months to prove itself. The crucial time period for video game sales are the first three months, after which games are mostly traded back in and bought used; turning no profit for the developer/publisher. This may be a reason people say they'll buy this game used, so as not to throw their money at NT or Capcom.

Anyway, I'm saying we'll have to wait a whole two more months before definite sales figures come out.
But for what it's worth:
If I remember correctly DMC4 sold around 4 or 5 million. DmC selling a third of that in its first ten days would be really, really good.

Just watch it get 1999999 sales. Or better yet, break 2 million and have trolls saying that Capcom and NT bought it themselves or paid people to buy the game.

Yeah, that's the exact reason. It's also because used games are a lot cheaper.

DMC4 sold at around 2.35 million, which is pretty good for a hack and slash. No game in this genre sells that much except God of War.

I see DmC as similar to DMC3, really. DMC3 didn't do as well due to 2's failure and many people even if I disagree with them felt the same about 4. DMC3 had great reviews but still it made 1.3 million.

Ah, going by Capcom's official statements and not VGCharts, I see. My bad.

Well seeing that DMC4 only broke 2.3 mil, there is some reason to worry. But my astonishment at the sales within the first ten days still stands. Now we have to see if it dips or stays constant from here.

Yeah, VGChartz is infamous for being inaccurate.

And remember that if looked at a console perspective, DMC4 only broke over 2 mil because of it being sold in other platforms. So this could mean that it's going to be a lot worse for DmC anyway.

But yeah, I'm reserving my judgement until the actual numbers come in. Right now it's pretty damn hectic and uncertain.

They made Heavenly Sword 2 rather than Devil May Cry is my issue.

...I must have missed where Nariko was or the subtle lesbianism between her and Kai popping up, because I was playing DmC: Devil May Cry with Dante, who was flirting with Kat, who was fangirling Vergil, who...well...yeah.

where was the saucy Redhead weilding a angelic/possibly demonic weapon that sucked her life out to use it?

I was speaking on the gameplay mechanics, not the story.

Oh, the Light Crowd Control style and Heavy Smasher Style? yeah, that's not unique to Heavenly Sword's mechanics, but NT was one of the most notable Devs to do it RIGHT. Besides...Nariko could not JUMP, Dante can. ~_^

Well yes, that and moreover how the stance system is entirely ripped from Heavenly Sword.

Maybe because that's what NT works best with, and they have that as kind of their signature mechanic at this point for their hack-n-slash games? Capcom clearly approved, and it's still a Devil may Cry...

Well, there's nothing like having a crazy girl lick you, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nariko and Kai had something going on. ;P

"I loved you brother"... Yeah, maybe a bit too much, eh? ;P

I more meant Vergil has no libido to speak of and didn't really hit on anyone, but if you are part of the twincest Yaoi crowd, have fun with that.

And trust me, there have been jokes about Nariko and Kai since the game came out...it's kind'a the Xena/Gabrielle situation there.

Yes, and what they were most familiar with was Heavenly Sword, and that's what game they made.

It's so far removed from previous Devil May Cry games, I could list it out. But this guy does it pretty well.

Not sure in the DMC manga is cannon, but in that he semeed to have an attitude of women are whores in makeup and didn't want anything to do with them like that.

As for Nariko and Kai, I have only this to say: Kai, I need you to play twing twang:lol:

So where's the finishers mechanic? Where's the counters and throw mechanic. Where's the QTE mechanics? Mechanically, the only major carry over is Stances, which are essentially a starter level of STYLES. I have Heavenly Sword, and save stances, the two games do NOT play alike save basic Hack'n'slash genre mechanics

You know minor combat differences like no finishers and QTEs don't really mean the combat has changed. Stances were a core system of HS and they are here too, and Stances are nothing like styles. They're not a toggle, and they change your weapons rather than your movesets.

Dante Redgrave

Son of Sparda
Which is not what they did in HS; in HS, they changed your MOVE SET, not your weapon. ...so you can actually say that the Stance system in DmC is the OPPOSITE of HS's.
