Worst moment in DmC: Devil May Cry

The whole game. All of it. Even the box art.
Of course it was. The whole game was a pile of stinky poo:troll:

The entire "Dante escorts Kat" mission....THE WOSRT PART of my favorite DMC game...it sucked HARD, I admit it, I hated it...every damn second of it
Agreed. The only redemption that mission had for me was the fight at the end and the emotional scene of Kat being beaten and dragged away while Dante is powerless to help.

am i the only one who liked vergilmobile ???
Yes. No one likes Volvos.

Didn't much care for the mission where you're trying to protect Kat, just because there was a lack of all the slashy and shooty that I love. Granted, they totally make up for it with a nice multi-wave gauntlet in the end, but...bleh, it didn't let me be all slashy and shooty, so I didn't like it.

Other worst moment - before the game's release, because I couldn't be all slashy and shooty there either.

I have decided. The worst moment in DMC was the moment I couldn't figure out how to beat Vergil because his shadow was preventing me from ending him and accidently figuring out how. Specifically it was that moment when I realized what I had done to win that was just the worst for me, the absolute, most face to palm, gimicky, dumb as all hell, moment in the whole game. It was all the worst because of all those stupid cutscenes that kept interrupting my combo just as I was getting in to a flow, that right there elevated this from mundane irritation all the way to the top of the list. It was between this and the fact that Mundus puts his face right up to you and stands there so you can pull on it, but the frustration at having 32 cutscenes in the Vergil fight was the icing on the cake for that whole 'how to kill Vergil' situation.

Well, I wish you had it on PC, I fixed the whole cutscenes ruining your combo thing for the final fight. But I did actually love the idea behind having to deviltrigger to finish off your brother, it was a really clever way to put the player in control of a scripted finale without forcing a quick time event. I don't know I liked it, but I guess they could have eventually thrown up a prompt, but I feel that would have really ruined the immersion of the moment.

Killing Vergil is funny because you really end up using your Devil Trigger to not only land the killing blow, but also blasting his doppelganger in the air so it's out of the way. Sort of a *Bwooooop*-*STAB* moment :p

The trade scene. For a company that prides themself in writting or/and telling stories that are great...
That scene was very stupid.

Kat should have died, very simple. Vergil shooting and killing Lilith and Swat team not shooting right after first shot is stupid.
If you go to scene when Swat team enters Order headquarters and reaches Kat.

Kat has her hands up and says dont shoot. The swat team shoots her.
But in a scene where Mundus, the evil demon, has his heir in a dangerous situation...nope "we dont shoot".
You can even point out why a evil king needs a heir for.
Was very convenient that Kat survived, but in reality...she would have been dead. There was plenty of time for Swat team to kill her, and she was even in between the shootout.

The scene makes Mundus look like a fool. If i was Mundus, my orders would be easy "Kill the girl if the woman dies".

Why you make me do dis?

Kat should have died, very simple.

During a firefight, the last person you wanna waste bullets on is a non-combatant. Doesn't matter if you want to kill the non-combatant at some point, priority and bullets go to the people actively shooting at you.

Also - plot armor.

Vergil shooting and killing Lilith and Swat team not shooting right after first shot is stupid.

Was only about two seconds, really, some of which was different peoples' reactions within the same moment - so to say, everyone's reactions were all happening at roughly the same second.

But yeah, you'd think everyone would be rather trigger happy. Most of the time in standoffs like that if one gunshot is heard, all hell breaks loose.

Not wanting to hit their own hostage is the biggest reason not to shoot during an exchange like that. I mean, c'mon...would you want to do something that would risk the loss of the person you're expressly there to get back? I wouldn't.

You can even point out why a evil king needs a heir for.

*shrug* That'll always be a mystery, but, I'd wager wanting to have someone to take over the "family business" after a time. Mundy's been at it for over 9000 years, he's probably getting tired. Demons are also usually pretty vain, so doing it strictly for posterity isn't out of the question :P

Plot armor is thick :P Also the whole not bothering to waste bullets on a non-combatant thing. Plus, being in-between the shootout is slightly different than being in the line of fire from assailant to target.

I don't mean to make it seem like I'm constantly at odds with you IncaDemo, but I hope what I say can enlighten you in some way. I'm not giving the whole scene a free pass, but there are other things to consider, of course.

Also - nice sig. I liked that trailer.

I am always open to enlightment, but i don't respect you, your behaviour is ...not worthy of respect. And it's not because you are a Dmc supporter, its with your attitude.
But that aside, i can acknowledge i have misjudged the situation.

If i was a evil demon, i would have made sure that Kat would be killed. I would tell the Swat team explicetly to shot her if Lilith is killed. And when you look at there was four swat members,
one could take a brief moment to shot Kat
While other three could fight the threat.

Hell...if i had power to controll a president, i would have sent 30 Swat members.

Why you make me do dis?

True, but a stray bullet should've at least killed her.

No one died!

I AM NOT AMUSED!!

Well, sorry I've made you feel that way.

Well, that's just not how firefights involving trained professionals usually go, really. Non-combatants never factor into it until they do something that makes them a threat. In Kat's case, she is essentially invisible, and all eyes are on taking out the two guys that are actively shooting the team. If Kat had turned around and tried to attack, then yeah, one of the SWAT would probably have blown her away.

This isn't all stuff I'd expect you (or anyone, really) to know, mind you. It's not exactly common knowledge, and I end up learning a lot of random stuff in my research on...everything >.<

I'm not sure sending a crap-ton more SWAT into the area would have been a good idea from a point of conspicuousness, but it sure would have helped. Hindsight is always 20/20 :p

Possibly, but remember these are trained professionals who aren't spraying and praying, and bullets never exit the bore of a gun without going straight :p Contrary to what games have us deal with, no bullet just flies out and immediately takes off a few degrees to one side >.<

Plus - plot armor :p I hate it, but it's the catch-all narrative device for any hero, at least until they need to get slightly wounded in the final act to make you worry for juuuuuuuuuust a moment :p

Oh, and DragonMaster - I know how you feel about Mission 2 on subsequent playthroughs. It's all fine and dandy from a narrative standpoint, but once you've already got all the neat toys it's a bit wonky. Sorta like Mission 3 (where you get the Angel Glide) where you can easily skip pretty much the entire level via sequence breaking and just using Angel Glide right when the street falls away :p

Easiest way to get that trophy for completing a mission in a short amount of time :3
