have you somehow read the script for DmC? there is no other way for you to know if anything in DmC is copied from something else.

Part of DmC story is basically copied from "They Live" movie.
Dante from the first Devil May Cry was inspired by Blade the Daywalker, the Marvel comicbook character played by Wesley Snipes in the movies. Like Blade, Dante is half human and half something supernatural, in this case a demon instead of a vampire. They both fight with swords and guns, they both wear trenchcoats and have a stylish fighting style.
Demons trying to come through to the mortal world and make it their own has been seen in many many movies, also great Hollywood blockbusters. So it isn't just Ninja Theory/Tameem who gets inspiration from Hollywood movies, Dante and Devil May Cry have always had that movie flair to it. I'm actually baffled that there hasn't been a movie about Devil May Cry yet.

who said you this ???? anyway dante has tragic background story which is original NOT COPIED FROM a B grade movie like IT lives whatever it is !! sorry for me to say the word "inspired" i should have said "fascinated"
and you can say his ''appearance" is inspired by many typical devil/vampire hunters ex wearing long coats wielding guns and a BIG sword yada yada so my point is dante's appearance is inspired by many devil hunters in Hollywood and many retro games like castlevenia but his story is unique and ITS ORIGINAL !!!! i don't like taneem he is a moron he never cares/cared about fans -_-

seriouslt man this was my first ever ps2 game think of it it was summer i was in high school and i wasn't rich kid in the town to buy 4 games at once so this pretty badass guy caught in my eye and he still is and will be my fav video game character EVAR !!!
Those who made Devil May Cry said this themselves. Calling Devil May Cry's storyline unique and original would be wrong. The concept has been done many times in many movies, games and books.

What exactly is unique about it? The devil hunter part? The part where he's lost his parents and wants to avenge them? That he is a son of a great hero? That he has an evil twin brother?

he hasn't lost his parents -_- his father is simply missing and his mother was killed by a demon vergil isn't EVIL >_< he just wants more power He isn't son of a great hero sparda isn't considered as one by the humans its simply a legend textbook stuff if that was the case than dante should have his own palace
He wants power at the expense of humankind. He doesn't care if others die in the process. That defines being evil. And I would say that one parent missing and the other dead would define that Dante has lost his parents.

He unleashes demons upon the world. He knows people will die, but he doesn't care. He only focuses on one thing and that is to gain power. He's not only evil, he's selfish as well. I don't know why you insist in saying otherwise, Devil May Cry 3 has it painted out for you.

so that's why he was mad about getting power he wasn't selfish like arkham he sacrificed his own wife to just become a scarfaced ugly bald guy

okay this isn't off topic the story would not be something as good as dante's story don't ya think ?? that's why they aren't revealing . much about the story hell i even know about story of new gears of war and next mgs title but this is really nothing hey guys don't expect much from this game NT isn't know to make games like these so the chances are this is gonna be screwedup uninteresting story but still cross your fingers hoping something from NT hahahah

As for the story of the new Devil May Cry, I don't think we should worry about getting a bad story for it. Ninja Theory cares ALOT about the storyline in their games and from what I understand, Capcom asked Ninja Theory to make the new Devil May Cry because of their skills in making good storylines.
No, I was more worried about the gameplay, since Heavenly Sword gameplay was just some God of War rip-off and Enslaved has some boring gameplay as well, but the gameplay for the new Devil May Cry looks the way Devil May Cry gameplay should be, so that's all good. ^^
