The beginning was just an overall feeling, just like "Man, like what you like and don't what you don't. Nobody can demand an explanation from you one way or another."
However, the rest of it was agreeing with you, talking about how I can understand still wanting to make your voice heard - it's retarded when having a logical and well-thought justification is dwarfed by all the small-minded crap the louder people declare.
To address your original question at the end though, "Why hate on people who didn't buy it?" It's just that sometimes people let others form their opinions, even parroting misinformation, and it's just incredibly dumbfounding to hear and see, y'know? Granted, you've done the utmost in discovering for yourself whether you wanted it or not, but many others don't. I have no problems with someone not wanting the game, but if they're going to spend their time b!tching about it, they should have at least given the final product a try somehow to make their words valid. Like...ChaserTech, he's "meh" on DmC, but he found a way to play the full game. If he hadn't, I'd be much less inclined to listen to what he says about it.
Good on you for your informed decision.
I am inclined on hating upon it and I do consistently hate on it. The only thing I don't know about it is some of the gameplay, however alot of it has as said before been seen and I've played the demo to death so I know most of the mechanics of it, but I can't say I've tried all movesets.
The saddest thing about the gameplay in DmC although I haven't played it is how bosses are just "dodge -> hit the weakspot while they don't do anything". Oh well, maybe not the last boss, but I found even that as a predictable boss that just had to wait up before doing anything, being way too slow with performing the attacks.
Color coded enemies are literally locks on the system as well, a game about heavy comboing and variety of moves to be used instantly turns into "Slam the enemy with angelic/demonic weapons repeatedly until they die".
Some enemies even have restricting ways to kill them in, yeah, I know that's the way in other DMC games as well. This is one part I can't comment much on since I only know that I can stylishly kill everything in previous DMC games even with the restrictions, but I haven't actually tried on these enemies yet since I haven't played the game fully.
Some of the soundtrack is good in my opinion, and this can just be entirely opinionated anyway so that doesn't really matter.
The landscape design is amazing, that was the only thing wanting me want to buy the game.
The plot is bare bones just like the rest of the series. But I felt alot more engaging watching through the whole DMC plots on youtube than I felt watching through this one. It's just not interesting, maybe because of the characters are unappealing to me but it's just mediocre. At least you have a goal and a red line of progress in it though, so I can respectfully say that its story is better than DMC2.
The attitude. This is maybe the worst of them all. I can't stand all the "**** you" everywhere. Or how every witty joke from either of them always have to be ruined by an insult like "**** you".
"You're not on the list"
*gets punched and Dante takes the list*
*instead of Dante writing his name and creating a really damn fun moment in the game he writes "**** you" and says "I am now"*
Spoiler alert for any people who read DmC discussions while haven't completed the game.
The first thing that caught me was how out of the blue the last battle was. Yes Vergil had shown some of his unfair judgement, but leaving the rest of mankind hanging by wanting to save one chick? That's irrational and Vergil knew that.
Vergil wanted to rule to protect mankind, he saw himself above them because he is. It's like a big person being bigger than a small person. He has power, and he wants to use that power to protect.
But Dante is like "woah woah woah, duuuuuude, I thought we were going for anarchy here." instantly dismissing the whole point that Vergil wants to protect and only sees him as a tyrant.
There are more subtle hints of Vergil thinking low of mankind through the plot I know, and there's a little more to it than that. But it still feels as if they pulled that fight right out of their butt.
End of spoilers
Then the cream topping is what they do to a franchise I love. DMC is literally the only hack and slash franchise I enjoy, the others are just bad in my eyes. And no matter what I can never judge DmC as a standalone game since it has a legacy to follow, and from everything I've read and seen it isn't following it up except for the shallow story.
I hate that they rebooted the game, why? Because I felt like I played as a witty badass who cracked jokes and was chill with everything, but being able to be a serious and a somewhat developed character anyway.
This feeling never really happens with the character in DmC. I am playing as a dude, who swears alot and destroys even his best moments to be witty, who never makes me laugh in any of the scenes, who doesn't make me feel like he's a badass.
Styles, witty badass, extremely deep combat with alot of secrets and techniques while still being easy to learn. While on the other hand DmC seems to be about slamming down enemies with some moves, or use a move that just blasts up style. Demonic dodge + a strong attack on a group or maybe you like to just spam drive on the enemies.
These things were kind of existing in previous DMC games but not as they are in DmC. If I want to make a beejesus strong attack on a boss and kill it epicly I have to get an opening, and openings doesn't just open up and stay open very often like in DmC where you have to wait for greater openings all the time.
I can show several videos of stylishly killing everything in DMC3 or DMC4. This can't be said about DmC, some say it's too early then I'd say it's too early for it warrant a buy because I don't see enough of the combat system to enjoy it.
In the end, I don't want DmC to suceed, it has been like a bully, interviews and whatnot, and it just likes to slap fans of the previous series in the face. Would you want a bully to suceed? I wouldn't.
People stating "You are just making them scrap the series altogether" I say I don't care. If I dislike something I like to show it, the same as with many here who likes it want to express how they do like it. Capcom decides if they want to destroy the series or not, I don't make any judgement call, I am just here voicing my opinion. If I'd make the judgements, the DMC5 would already be in development. But now I can just say "Hey Capcom, I think I actually didn't like this one." as I'm entitled to do, I don't want to see a sequel of it happening at all, and DMC is probably dead now anyway. If there are more people liking it who voices their opinion, then Capcom will see that, if there aren't, Capcom will see that too.
You can't blame a system that relies on people just voicing their opinions, since it is fair anyway. If you are on the losing side, you simply are the minority, nothing more you can do about it.
This game not only leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, it makes sure to slap me while it is at it as well.
As a game, DmC is probably a 6/10 in my eyes. No, I don't rate like modern reviewers does does so 6/10 is an above mediocre game.
But if I judge what kind of game it is, I don't even want to rate it, because it's done so much to throw dirt at the legacy of DMC and it hasn't exactly shown that it is superior. It's awful, and I only look at and read peoples opinions about it, pros and antis alike, so I can know even more about what kind of a game it is.
Bleh, wrote too much, sorry.
