Why I didn't buy the game

I didn't like it.

I see many people saying that the fact that people don't buy it is to boycott Capcom so that they want the old DMC back. However, I didn't buy it because I didn't like it.
I don't want to support it by donating money, since I don't even want it to begin with.

You can see articles or people saying that for people like me not buying it, we've ruined the series out of spite.
So, technically, people are saying I have to buy it or I'm just trying to boycott DmC and Capcom because I've got nostalgia googles or whatever other excuse there is?

I'm really sorry, but if Capcom decides to reboot their franchise they can do it. It doesn't mean I have to buy it, or have to be interested in it. Why am I supposed to be forced to buy it when I don't even want anything of it?

"You might like it, you shouldn't judge a game before trying"
You are saying I should buy every game? I have to give it some preliminary judgement to be able to know if I am to buy something or not. Besides, I've seen enough of DmC, read enough and tried enough of it to know pretty much everything about it. This is a game I've given a huge amount of attention to unlike every other game on the market due to its name, so I'm pretty sure my final choice of me liking it or not is alot more final than any other game I haven't played.

So what's up with hating people for not buying this? .-.

You're free to not buy it if you don't want the game at all. But if you pirate it despite not liking it then know that you're nothing more than a shameless hypocrite.

"You might like it, you shouldn't judge a game before trying
Sometimes I have been the person to say this to people if they've been almost crazy with hatred over a title because the box is blue instead of green or something dumb like that, but I also am someone who doesn't buy certain games based on what I've seen or heard prior to release. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I will dislike certain games without ever playing them because they are either not in a genre I enjoy, have content that doesn't interest me or I know I'll be so crap at them because the only game I can sort of play with any kind of efficiency is snap :troll:

I personally do not see why someone should spend money on something they don't want - you wouldn't do it with clothing, food or indeed many other purchases, so why a game? If you were to spend all your time post-release ranting about how crappy a game is despite never playing it, then that would be a different thing altogether. But if it's simply not a title you want and you've not purchased it then what would be the problem? There are plenty of other things to talk about in life than just DmC, after all...

Obviously it's not for everyone. But nobody forced you by DmC so I don't understand that point, and I also expected you to not like it since you pretty much reviewed the game 5 months before the game even came out so....
Usually those people forcefully don't change.

Hating someone who didn't buy it though? Dunno where that came from but I think there's more important crap to be hating people on than not buying a single game.

It's just bitching.

On the one hand it's good advice not to 'judge a book by its cover', but on the other we all have innate likes and dislikes and not everyone is bound to like this game, nor should be obligated to.

The idea that the series has been 'ruined' by fan spite is ridiculous - CAPCOM has always had control of the series and its direction, not the fans, and people will buy what they want to buy, end of story... since DmC's target audience isn't the old DMC fanbase, saying those fans spoiled the series is a contradiction because CAPCOM weren't aiming at them. More likely DmC just hasn't turned on as many strangers to the series as CAPCOM hoped.

As for buying stuff... I don't just randomly buy things to support whoever makes it, or out of pity, I buy them if they catch my eye and I like the look of it. And if a developer is taking a franchise down a road that I don't like, should I still buy their products to support them? I can't see why, if they have no intention of making things I want any more. Anyone who thinks you should buy this game JUST BECAUSE gets a laugh from me, and anyone who thinks if you don't like the game you should still buy it to support CAPCOM's next game probably doesn't understand the concept of quality control. If you think it looks cool and you want to play it, buy it. If you don't, don't buy it, and ignore the idiots out there.

I completely agree. I haven't brought DmC. I probably had a chance to, but I let it slip. Not enough interest for me to want to buy it. Yeah I won't bash it. I won't say it's the worst game ever made. I won't even say it's a bad game at all. At foremost, I definitely would never object to anyone liking this game on any level. But personally for me I am the same as yourself. I didn't like it enough to commit to making a purchase of the game on or slightly after its release date. And at the moment not buying it is not going to ruin my life. If I ever do want it, I can wait.

I don't think anyone is hating you, especially on these forums where I'd like to think we are pretty open minded.
I think that people just really like DmC, and want others to feel their joy... or their fanaticism.

It's fine that you don't want to purchase, and no one here thinks any less of you for doing so.
Bear in mind that we do still discuss the other games, so feel free to stick around.

I don't think anyone cares what so ever if you buy the game or not. It may be having to explain yourself, like others have felt the need to, that might set other people uneasy and or confused. You don't a reason to not buy something if you don't want it or don't feel it's worth your time and money.

I am in the same position as you man. I like DMC, I loved it for over 10 years. I don't like the reboot for alot of reasons, one of the major ones is I don't like the direction its going, despite me renting it and still not liking the direction its going.

I feel like I should ask.
What if Capcom were to tell you now that this is officialy a spin-off. a side story, similar to Megaman Battlenetwork.

And that they're just waiting for better devs to become available so they could make a proper DMC5.

Would you be satisfied?

I certainly don't hate on people who didn't buy the game. Life is more interesting with differences anyway, spice of life and all that jazz. There are plenty of games I don't buy either because I don't like the look of them so I wouldn't expect a complete stranger to buy something they know they wouldn't enjoy. As long as people don't pirate a game then I'm cool. I also might not take someone seriously if they've reviewed a game without having played, however it would just give me a good laugh. But hey if you ran into crazy's or something don't feel bad there's nut's everywhere.

Fanboy logic. Game's perfect, therefore anyone who refused to spend money on it is doing it out of baseless spite.

Pretty much how Fanboys think about that logic:

There is also the fanboy logic of "They like the game, they clearly have no taste and are just whores for the company who eat up anything Capcom puts out".

Double standard dude. DmC ain't perfect, but it's far from failure. I used to be a stubborn opposer to the reboot, and it's won me over to appreciating it as a spin-off AU series, which makes me appreciate the variaty we can get from DMC as a whole.

I can see from where OP is coming from. I remember a few weeks before DmC would release, I went to my local GameStop for my monthly bargain hunt in the PS2/PS3 section. After I found Primal and Chaos Legion cheap, I went to purchase them and the employee asked if I was interested in pre-ordering DmC.
I just in a polite manner said that while I love the DMC serie, I don't like the direction DmC is going in. Some guy overhears this and right away insults me for being close minded and saying "DmC is going to be the best DMC ever but it will have a hard time because of people like you."

I just told him the reasons why I'm not interested in DmC and don't mind if people like it. And ofcourse he resorts to "It's the hair right? You don't like it because he don't have white hair right!"

I decided that it was pointless, told him to **** off and then left the store.

I know there is reasonable fans of DmC but guys like that doesn't help the fanbase at all.

Yeah, dude, you have at least my apologies for that bad representation and example of people who like the game...I respect you're not a fan of the reboot's direction, and you respect those that do like it. Fair is fair, you know.

I... was just answering OP's question. Nothing more :|
