Where and How Did Vergil Learn Iaido?

At 21:01, Vergil explains that he "taught himself" hacking. He never bothered to explain how he learned to become an "iaidoka" (practitioner of iaido).

Did he teach himself that as well? Was he some sort of Tony Stark prodigy that just learns everything by reading up on it? I wish NT had explained more about how he learned these things.

Dante's fighting style also seems self-taught. But you also notice how he stumbles a bit, highlighting the contrast between him and Vergil.

But Vergil himself moves almost too well, as if someone had taught him everything. Did someone teach him, or did he just "magically" know just from holding the katana itself?

If someone did teach Vergil, then NT should have provided a backstory on that. That could even be the foundation on which to build the story upon in the sequel... if it ever happens, that is.

But, I think 'The Wolverine' has already moved into that "territory".

He gets claws, a katana, and a trip to Tokyo?? Why is it that some people have it all?

to be fair we never found out how classic vergil got so good

True, that was never explained, either. The fanfiction writers would always have to fill in the blanks (in the old series), unfortunately. :steve:

They are sons of an ancient demon who lived and fought for thousands of years, he was bound to learn alot of fighting styles for alot of weapons, he was bound to teach his sons some.

In DmC, though, he isn't as proficient, or even that comfortable with his katana, he could've learned it with the large sum of money he has.

It's more of a question of how he'd train in the use of Devil Arms without revealing his identity. His powers can only be used within Limbo from what we see (Sword Summoning, Doppelganger), and if he were to fight demons in Limbo he'd have had to have run a huge risk of exposing himself to Mundas every time he does it. Even if he learned Iaido from a sensei in reality, he would find it incredibly hard to practice his supernatural abilities, leaving him to languish as a combat amateur while Dante fully explored his powers.

In fact that probably explains why he was a complete push-over in his boss fight.

also remember in the comic vergil said that he purified areas of limbo, which involves killing demons, so that's probably how he practiced

Wow, that would have been a really good detail to include in the game. It's almost like they retconned it in after the fact.

would have been good to know how he learned all that stuff

also where did he find that ssstlyish hat

It just makes sense to wear a stylish and distinctive hat when you're trying to lay low as a terrorist leader. You know, like how walking around with a unique sword which can seal hell gates while in public helps you keep a low profile.

According to the comic he wore a metal mask.

You mean he did have training and experience in Devil Arms in time for the boss fight? ...That's really quite sad.

apparently vergil wears the hat to hide his hair so white hair must be usually a nehpilim trait....unless your old

on topic i think he learnt it from watching youtube:troll:

It would actually make a lot more sense if Order members all wore the masks during public acts where obscuring their identities would be paramount. I understand that it's a narrative conceit that they don't, but I've had enough conceit for one game already.

What's the difference between iaido and 'hacking'? ;)

Not much seeing as you gotta be "sharp" to do both. ;)

Maybe Vergil's just more in-tune with his nephilim-ness and so he just knows things...or maybe boatloads of cash buys you really good teachers who are good at being silent and not prattling about their students. :P It wouldn't be hard for someone to teach you basic moves and for you to practice, practice, practice all the time...that's how I've always learned weapons. Vergil's most definitely smarter than me and so it make sense that he would probably have considered the same thing with better results.

I don't really understand the question, wouldn't he have learned it when he was younger, just like in the original series?
