Don't worry about it bro. I got it covered.

My profile pic is of a character I created for story called "Part time Spirit helper". He's a psychic who can summon a doppelganger made of his shadow. So if I was in DMC I'd be him.

Maybe we should do that as a thread idea? Who would we be in DMC? ;)

I was a fan of The Wolf Among Us so I wouldn't mind a fairytale theme. The manga had references to Alice in Wonderland. So I'd want a Wizard of Oz reference in the next one.

Since the Darkstalkers' Little Red Riding Hood out of BB Hood, that could work. Maybe on Nero's side in the human world?

There's the trio of the Tin man, cowardly lion and scarecrow you could work a reference in.

Isn't one of the enemy types a scarecrow? You could do a version where one of decides to think for itself and decides to go good.

Tin man could just be a robot designed to fight demons but gains sentience. Lady has to teach it the lesson she learned in 3.

The cowardly lion could just be a human cursed to be a werelion. They decide to embrace their situation and use their curse to help others.

You could just make Dorothy a hunter like Supernatural did. Or just use her a plot focus like Patty ended being.

Hello there. Newcomer to this forum, and seeking to discuss a gameplay idea I had for DMC 6, at least on Son of Sparda or higher difficulties. I'm not exactly sure how this would be tied into the story or writing of the game, but what if Capcom took inspiration from Bloodborne's mechanics? I don't mean remaking it into a Bloodborne successor, but what if on higher difficulties, the Player Character (let's just use Dante for example) takes damage and the loss of damage can be mitigated or even recovered by counterattacking in a swift rebuttal to the enemy's attacks?

To just keep things to a singular standard, let's say in this hypothetical DMC 6, Dante becomes corrupted, and on higher difficulties, he takes higher damage. To counter this, he regains health by killing enemies faster than his health depletes, and even regains health on stylish kills. This balance of higher damage taken while regaining partial health from slaying your enemies can even be boosted in this hypothetical by getting a higher style ranking. If Dante kills 10 heavy demons (borrowing a little lingo from Doom Eternal here, meaning demons that have mid-to-high health) with a B ranking, he regains about 15% of lost health if he does it quickly (eg within 15-20 seconds).

Now, if he kills those same 10 heavy demons and gets an SSS rank, he regains about 45% of his lost heath. So, what do you guys think of this gameplay mechanic being used in a potential DMC 6?

@Ronin
Someone like Dynamo from Megaman. A mercenary who works for the villian and seeks to prevent Nero from getting involved. But this character works better with a smaller scale plot.

@Lain
Dante's more closer to Hellboy than Constantine as a character so demons being public knowledge fits. Plus DMC3 should've revealed the existence of demons to the public anyway.

@LightningLance
You could have Dante be cursed and have to work around it.

@V's patron That could work based on Dynamo.

I could picture the mercenary as someone kinda like Giorno Giovanna in some way.

Plus I so would love to see Machiavelli make an appearance for the first time, as a demon who transferred his soul into a Devil Arm, becoming Nero's personal Devil Arm & ally. Nero dual wielding!

A demon hunter fights with a weighted staff and is easy going but reserved like Sonom from FF7R-

His best friend died during the Qlipoth attack. He comes back as a demon familiar like Griffon.

They are inspired by Jak and Daxter and their story tackles the theme of friends reconnecting years later but finding themselves different. Just one's a demon hunter and the other is a demon.

I call them Steady and Slick.

Spear is named after his spear which he uses like Draupnir from GOW Ragnarok. I don't know yet if throwing the spear and it returns is an element innate to the spear itself or Steady can use Telekinesis.

Slick's current body is a demon based out of folklore or an existing enemy type. He's more of a thinker looking for all the angles so he relies more on trickery. He'd probably use illusions, daggers, teleportation and the like.

This fanart of Ken and Nanako from Persona got me thinking of a spinoff set during Steady's high school days.

I got a new rival character in mind for Nero wielding a Khopesh. And of course following Vergil, a glaive for an extra Devil Arm.

Picturing one a half-demon of Mundus' legacy.

A khopesh is an Egyptian sword. Do you want your character to be of Egyptian heritage?

A possibility.

What kind of sword do YOU picture for Nero’s rival?

Vergil learned Iaido/Iaijutsu for wielding Yamato after all.

We gotta have a sword fight for Nero’s battles next game.

I wouldn't give Nero's rival a sword or put much emphasis on one if they had one. I'd do something like Bungo Stray Dogs or Jojo's bizarre adventure and give them a unique gimmick. If V wasn't wasted as Vergil's humanity, I'd use him as Nero's partner/rival. I'd give him something like this-

But I rather retire Nero and move on from the Sparda family drama so if you want to use him more, that's fine.

You should decide what you want his rival to be.

Let's see here. Virgil's spouse needs to be explored somehow. A flashback scene perhaps. Somehow she's either seperated from him or dies. Nero then ends up at orphanage. The purpose of this would be to show how weak and pathethic Virgil is. For "real" though. Not that illusion nonsense in the reboot.

Nero would become a bit wiser. Toughens up a bit. Makes sense considering how 5 ends. The book will make him a bit more silver tongued. Less words and more action.

Virgil pulled himself back together. Has Dante now. Those two would be fighting side by side.

At some point they meet Sparda. He's alive, I'm sure of it. Or if not alive then where is he going to go? Hell? Hahahaaa. Sparda would be fought. First by Dante. Then by Virgil. At the end by both. Nero steps in somewhere. He's got to chase after Virgil after all.

The question then is why would Sparda fight his sons? Well, to test them for a start. The stakes? Well, Virgil was after the apple in 5. That's one way to do it but there can be others. Sprada can be more then some king. It's an army of chaos, you can't exactly just "organize" that. So Sparda would be the leader, but it's more of a leader of a unruly mob. Where he's respected by the demons but not following orders. Which makes sense. Leaders inspire, they don't demand.

A story like that can be spun a number of ways. Legacy of Kain does it well. Even the Elder god is part of "the wheel of fate" if you think about it. 5 did take things a bit more towards that direction. So perhaps 6 will expand on it. Imagine if they all met and talked about how the cycle will continue regardless of what they do. It would put all of them in a very interesting situation. You can't "win", so what can you do?

In the end they can all coexist. But first They. Must. Fight. Virgil already understands why.

I wouldn't mind if 6 ended up being a full remake of 1 , considering how good the resi remakes have been

Ya it would, what i mean is if the next game ended up being a remake and not a sequel

I would be okay with that, i already gave my ideas for 6
