What did you like in DmC

It did, actually. I got to see an attempt at trying something different that Capcom was so reluctant to do themselves because their ENTIRE TEAM who use to handle the DMC series has for the most part left, since upper management was willing to shove half-ass and partially finished products out the door and call them good while going behind dev teams' backs, and so when they went to NT, they gave the specific conditions upon which this game was made, including making the game more story driven, getting away from the usual look of Dante, and then more accessibility of the combat engine. So...yeah, direct more of your bile and hate toward the architects of this product if you have that much of an issue and less so toward the hired worker who just followed their directives.

Oh god yes, of course you're right there. Capcom's upper management have been a shower of absolute pillocks over the last few years, what with the On Disc DLC fiascos and such like. They're culpable too of course, but it won't stop me from having problems with NT either.

do i need to copy and paste the TITLE OF THE THREAD,
"There are a lot of threads for picking out the flaws in DmC. fair enough, but i feel it deserves more love than its receiving at point. so i made this thread. just put down what you liked in the game "
in other words
DON'T BITCH ABOUT WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE GAME in this thread which is made for the sole purpose of positive reception

I did put down what I saw as positive, Redgrave replied, I rebutted. On message boards tangents occur. You know this. If you feel I'm digressing in future feel free to pm me.

first of all who the hell are you to say that the entirety of the video game journalism industry is retarded

You said that, not me, and I'll thank you not to use that terminology.

unlike you they objectively review games because they are professional enough, (and are actually contributing to society, its called a job asshole)

And you're using ad hominem like you always do, which is why you're not a marketing spokesperson (Protip: You can't insult people's professional lives and personal backgrounds when you don't know who they are).

HOW'S THAT FOR A ROAST?!!!

Good lord, I have soiled myself. Look, I can do it too.

PIES

Now isn't that impressive, along with lengthy insulting tirades against the individual rather than the opinion.

My problem with the mainstream media is that there has been a notable absence of critique on this game's known flaws, which anyone on this forum or has played the game can vouch for. Of course through the corona of my opinion the game is horrible, but even to a mainstream audience I'd say it warrants a low 7 and some strict critique of decent plot structure and gameplay depth. Then again, that is my opinion and as you have failed to note, it's not impeding yours just be being visible. I haven't singled out or insulted anyone by having them either, and I certainly intend no offence by having them. By equating everyone with an opposing viewpoint as a "troll" you're not better than the tinfoil hats who think that every review score is paid for.

Perhaps you should evaluate your own insecurities before you act in this way.

I do admire that initial notion that they had with DmC, vis-a-vis going with the medieval notion that Demons are responsible for all of society's ills from the ground up. That was potentially interesting and kind of reminded me of World of Darkness.

It's easier to focus on the things I didn't like:

- A weird complaint, but I found the font in the game extremely ugly. Not to mention the subtitles were terribly done. Sometimes they got entire words wrong. For instance, in a cutscene, Kat could have said "yeah" but in the subtitles it would say "Yes". Small errors like that really bug me. The timing of the subtitles could have been better. Maybe only show part of a text, and then show the next bit as the voice actor delivers the line. There's a lot of long pauses, and if you read the subtitles, you already knew exactly what they were going to say. Which kind of killed the "suspense."

Stuff like that is the reason I play all games with the subtitles off now lol. It's actually much better that way as you get to watch the cut scenes instead of reading them.

I agree completely, but then there are games where you really need them and they aren't there. I was replaying Viewtiful Joe recently, I can't understand a damn thing any of the Jadow are saying, and there are no subtitles

...come to think of it God Hand didn't have any subtitles either...god damn it Clover...

With games like GTA and Mass Effect, subtitles have just become the norm for me and videogames.

It was MGS1 that set the subtitle standard for me. In Bioware RPGs it's justified because you often have to reconsider what conversational option you'll go with after reflecting on the text of the last sentence spoken.

Yeah, there's another thing I like about DmC: It has subtitles.

look, i dont know you. you could be a 12 years old boy playing on his 3rd ipad in the darkness. or a well renowned world famous critic. or some well loved man of charity or whatever. but i dont see a reason to go around crapping all over DmC whenever you get the chance. dont go around pretending to be noble here. i made this thread because i thought itd be nice for people to come together and discuss what we liked about the game. IF you WERE serious in your dislikes you would have ignored this thread and posted your problems on another thread that wanted you to post them there. but no you didnt, you posted here just to get a reaction,so go ahead. You criticize all you want. Hate the game, hate me, , get people to not to play the game, boycott it, petition it, call me a moron, whatever you gotta do.

i only had one grievence, with the eye pun "it is eye" but they wrote it "it is I" major letdown.

Dat soundtrack :P
right? it was brilliant, i listen to it all the time now. which always makes me worried that im about to be rished by demons any given second :D

The fluidity of certain things like the combat and controls. Things like the jump, which feels not as flighty as Bayonetta, but not as stiff as the past DmC's. The the dodge canceling is also between those games. Most stuff is easy to dodge cancel out of, but there's still a penalty to doing a move like Trinity Smash without thinking first.

The story, while it has it's flaws, felt fun to play through. As an aside, while I wouldn't have minded seeing some kickass cutscenes, looking back at DMC3 and 4, most of them they were just for the sake of cool/showing off instead of having real purpose to them, which makes feel cheesy for me after the first watch.

The stance system is easier to manage than the multi-styles system of 4. People able to flip the d-pad while hitting those combos, I salute your skill, or mutant third thumb.

The level creation is great with how it blends with the story instead of doing abstract item collecting stuff. It's also diverse without breaking it's own context; DMC4 threw me off with the forest traversal, while DMC3 I felt it was mostly drab dark stoney areas, which could get a little boring over time.

That...that was beautiful

There is another thing i like about DmC : It makes haters to bleed and it tastes so good

Just report Macabre and get on with it.

Anyways, I liked about everything but two things:
- The game was too short.
- The Devil Trigger wasn't cool enough.

Certain parts I like about the game:
- Osiris, the scythe. I love that weapon!
- The story is really well-told and interesting.
- Kat is cute and a really cool sidekick.
- Dante naked in the intro. ;P

Yep, I wanted more game to play. 5 hours on Nephilim wasn't enough for 1 playthrough. But the other modes made that up to me.

I really did like the story, but I wanted more of it, maybe more interaction between certain characters to get a better feel for their relationship. But I'm fine with that because what I got, I did actually enjoy it, just wanted more.
- Kat is cute and a really cool sidekick.
Agreed, and while I know she wasn't meant to be gun wielding, and her main line of defence were protective spells, I would have like to see her a little more involved in combat during cutscenes, or maybe a little more help during the Hunter fight.
- Dante naked in the intro. ;P
 Yep, I'll have more of that. Naked Dante mod on the PC with something silly for coverup.

I liked everything the new Dante, The new weapons, the story eveyrthing.I like kat very much too, and in the beggining where dante opens the door naked and kat is like POKER FACE.

The facial animations and the way they were able to capture the subtleties of each actor.

NT's approach to the Dante and Vergil rivalry.

The character development of both Dante and Vergil. People have complained about Vergil's seemingly random motives at the end, but if you pay attention closely, it is heavily foreshadowed throughout the game without being blatantly stated.
Agree with you on that. The only problem with the Dante and Vergil mix is how quickly they turn on each other. They spend days with each other, take down a demon lord and within the span of a cutscene, turn on each other. It seemed a bit rushed.
If I were to rate it.
75/100

- I loved the relationship between the two brothers very much.
- Kat was the first female character in a Devil May Cry game I cared about.
- Dante moving forward and developing as a character.
- Though easy, but diverse combat I had fun with.
- When Vergil says, "I loved you, brother" it's done with so much emotion.

They could give some more reason to Vergil.
With this ending, Vergil changed (become a bad guy) too easly.
They could add some more dialogs. And they could give some more materials about his case.
Something like:

Vergil : Now we can rule this world
Dante: I wont let you to be another Mundus.
Vergil : Dont be stupid. If we dont rule this world, another demon is gonna take the Mundus' throne already.
Dante : I'll take that risk, and never let anyone be in any throne.
Vergil : This is foolishness Dante. Clear your mind. The world is full of demons now. And humans are weak. They need us to protect them.
Dante : I'll let them make their choice, unlike you..

No that's not it. Vergil isn't a bad guy. I use the comparison of Xavior and Magneto. Both aren't bad, both want a better future but both have slightly different ideas. Dante wants to keep out of Human affairs while Vergil thinks they need a ruler in order for there to be peace. Magneto/Vergil think of themselves as better than Humans while Xaviour/Dante see them as equal and not to be interfered with.

Actually thats what i try to point.
But also i pointed they should add a few more reasons on final dialogs.

Things that I liked about the game:

- Enemy designs: Rage, Elite Stygians, Knights, Witch, and Drekavacs/Dreamrunners. I thought they were pretty neat. I found that the Rage enemy reminded me too much of Frost from DMC4 for some reason lol.

- Boss Designs: I found most of the bosses to be designed fairly well, visually speaking. Mainly the Hunter, Bob Barbas and Poison. However in terms of AI and attacks I found most of the bosses to be fairly plain and bland. Not going into much detail about it though.

- Environments: As I stated before, they are pretty stunning and all around beautiful. The fact that the surroundings constantly change around you makes things slightly better too.

- Soundtrack: Most of the music within the game was pretty good. One of my fave soundtracks included Bob Barbas theme, Secret World, Lilith's Club Scene, and the Hunter's theme. Overall, the music was fairly enjoyable. Better than most of the previous soundtracks in other games imo.

That's basically I can recall about this game that stood out the most for me. Everything else was kinda of a hit and miss for the most part.
