I FINALLY finished Infinite Wealth last night! One of the best JRPGs I've ever played, in terms of writing (no surprise from RGG) and breadth of things to do and combat and progression, all in one package. Even the 2-party factor was something I had not expected, nor ever seen before? I'm trying to think if I've ever seen that. The only downside is the world gets uninteresting fast for me. I basically explored everything by 2/3 of the way through and if I wanted to get any special item after that, it was just grinding the dungeons, which I did not enjoy. The inferior English script was a downside too. I went back and forth between JP and ENG scripts, finally sticking with English in the later chapters, because I just prefer playing video games in English. Easier for me to mentally process dialog faster so I can skip the VA once I finish reading the line lol. Ultimately, an amazing game.
But this isn't a review thread.
I just wanted to mention Infinite Wealth since finishing it basically opened the floodgates for me to play a buncha SP games now, at my own pace w/o feeling any pressure. So this is what I've been playing the past few days:
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Code Vein
Soulstone Survivors
Elden Ring Nightreign
Rematch
Marvel Rivals
I started Tainted Grail and COE33 last night/today. Along with Code Vein, that is 3 RPGs. And I'm not sure I'll play all 3 simultaneously, as keeping mental track of RPG systems isn't always easy for me. I think I will focus on COE33 and Code Vein. Either way, playing just 1 backlog game at a time risks burn out, like it did with Infinite Wealth. So I think from now on, I'm going back to just playing 2-3 backlog games at a time at my own pace.
Also, Rematch is incredibly fun. And difficult. But so fun.
