Remember that old movie where the goverment finds a cheaper way to make food, and the key ingredient was something called "Soilent Green"

In the end of the movie, they find what the secret ingredient is, and the main character yells

"SOILENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!"

Soilent green's key ingredient was dead corpses of human lives.

Soilent green was made from people, (Now I know the inspiration for the "Rainbow Factory" MLP fanfic)

But my question is, was Virtility in anyway inspired by this film (Don't tell me it's "just" a coincidence and Ninja theory were being 100% original, as this film is actually a cult classic, loved by many, often credited for starting the whole, "secret ingredient" fad, so my question now is, did Ninja theory take inspiration from this movie in particular, or the fad it created)

Yeah, i know the movie. I don't think Slirm is people, though. that would imply that the factory prossed people, not Poison's whatever.

I wasn't familiar with that soilent-green-movie-thingie. Besides, secret ingredient is a commonly used theme. ;)

So that's what random is.

How....unfortunate.

Hey random did Bayonetta draw inspiration from Soul Reaver's spectral and material realms?

Haha. I remember the Soylent Green reference on Johnny Bravo was the first time I've ever heard anything close to the phrase.

THE BEEF JERKY IS HEALTH FOOD I TELL YOU

Well. Seems likely that they took inspiration from it.
What of it? At least they take stuff from classics ;)

THEY LIVE and Soilent Green? Cool.

There have been paradies of that for a long time. The idea was to shock audiences at the end, wasn't it? Or was it it always insinuated that it was people? I haven't seen that movie in forever.

Well I would say it is inspired by a lot of science fiction, its easy to see some of the connections, The Matrix ( Machines controlling us without us knowing, using us as food (energy) Soylent green, though I think people were actively encouraged to commit suicide in that one and then turned into food. Yum, yum. Equilibrium, the resisitance, general control by the media and surveillance. V for Vendetta. There's a lot of influences I can see in this game. You should check out Nineteen Eighty-Four as well.

So thats:

Soylent green
The Matrix
Equilibrium
V for Vendetta
Nineteen Eighty-Four

anyone see any other inspirations? early days yet though.

The original trailer for Soylent Green actually spoils the whole movie in a way,
It asked what the secret ingredient is, and also showed bodybags hanging at one point in a factory

In all fairness video games these days(especially DMC) has a habit from taking or having influence from other existing and popular franchises....well at least DmC is using serious western films rather than anime/manga for its influence.

I'm so glad they're not copying off of other games...

:D

Hey guys what other games draw their inspiration from movies?

I got a feeling in the Behind the scenes and making of DmC we'll hear Tameem talk about watching movies and working his ass off to bring to us the best version of Devil May Cry.

I really do appreciate the hard work these guys put in just to bring us a couple hours of gameplay. Shows they really love their job and their fans.

You sure about that...It seems Tameem cares about is making the DMC fans eat their words.

People misinterpret Tameem wrong just like they did with saying that the original concept of Dante looked like him. They twist his words and try to convince everyone else that he said this or that.

Give me some quotes or even videos and I'll tell you what you did wrong.

No I'm a hundred percent sure he wasn't being cynical and many fans are just purposely misinterpreting his words....I can help you with that.

Watch this guy's videos...he IS A MAJOR DOUCHE who misinterpret Tameem's and Alex Jones words.

There is more but I don't wanna post them all.
