Of course I respect your opinion. There's no way you can be right or wrong. Especially with story telling... from my experience movies have the widest variety of opinions. I always find myself watching top rated movies and thinking "wait, this is good?". Like, Avatar... I didn't see what was so special about it. It was a decent movie, but nothing amazing.
I've been a fan of DMC since DMC3:SE came out... and without really expecting to, I ended up playing the games in chronological order.
Out of curiosity, what do you think of DmC's Vergil? Specifically during the ending?
Thanks a bunch! It's because an opinion is neither right nor wrong anyway... Those who think it's either... Well, they're just thinking their opinions are the only thing that matters and that others' opinions don't. It's one of the many reasons why humanity cannot move forward. How sad...
The reason why I loved DmC's story is because the supporting cast are ACTUALLY SUPPORTING Dante, like how Kat helped him by first throwing a Molotov cocktail on the Hunter's face so that he can kick its ass and guided her throughout Virility as well as The Order HQ when it was under attack by SWAT and providing the brothers' last stand against Mundus, how Vergil provided extra firearms for Dante i.e. Revenant and Kablooey, and how Phineas carved Dante a new path through his philosophy that everything is in a matter of perspective and different perspectives can forge a new path. And I do believe in Phineas' philosophy, which I have learned recently when I played DmC since I am an open-minded person myself.
Now, back on the DMC topic about DmC Vergil:
DmC Vergil in the beginning was a supporting character. I do loved the fact he and Dante worked together to bring Mundus AKA Kyle Ryder down; I really prefer the Sons of Sparda as a team rather than fighting one another, just like how I chose both Classic Sons of Sparda i.e. Classic Dante and Vergil in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as two-thirds of my three-man team, with the third being Dante's Marvel rival Deadpool (I love his humor and fourth-wall breaking tendencies BTW!) as well as in DMC3 when they had to cooperate to bring the corrupted Arkham down (I do loved the part when Dante and Vergil said "JACKPOT!" together; that part of DMC3 remained so memorable for me because that was the first time that one-liner was chronologically heard).
Then, the signs of his true nature came after Kat got kidnapped. First he claims that the brothers can't save Kat from Mundus; however, he reluctantly chose Dante's methods of taking Mundus' mistress Lilith hostage because she carries his heir as it could strike a blow to Mundus. He also used a sniper rifle (I know deep down he dislikes guns, but he has no choice but to use it for his plans to go in motion) to shoot Lilith by first shooting Mundus' heir and then Lilith herself which surprised Dante.
Then the plot twist came in by the 20th and final mission of DmC where Vergil finally reveals his true colors, finally breaking his "good guy" act. He thinks he and Dante should rule over humanity with respect claiming that it will be different from Mundus because he sensed humanity's flaws, especially when he wanted to protect them not only from others but from themselves as he claims. Looking back at what Phineas asked him of who would be the next ruler if Mundus is dead on his way to defeat Raptor News Network news anchor of a demon Bob Barbas, Dante grew disillusioned that he was actually fighting for his brother's freedom, not humanity's. By then, I knew deep down Vergil is really selfish using his "resources" which is humanity and his brotherly love for Dante that Dante was used, betrayed and duped.
Probably the challenging boss in DmC would have to be the final boss, Vergil, and Combichrist's track "Empty" really fits the battle well. Once I get Vergil's Downfall, I can find out how he is becoming like the Classic Vergil, getting obsessed over his brotherly love towards Dante, looking down on humanity and that he needed power to become stronger...
So in short, DmC Vergil's "heroic value" was nothing more but a mere facade... I knew this was coming because the developers at Ninja Theory needed to leave tons of room for character development. Although I do not consider NT to be a great game developer group as not every game developed, not just by them, was made to be perfect, but I'd like to say that they did a wonderful job of making Vergil the Vergil every DMC fan knew since DMC3 as well as leaving a lot of room for character development! Now whoever got Vergil's Downfall first, please tell me... I wanna know its story...

P.S. Despite what I think, if anybody thinks NT has grown arrogant, then the only person in it who is really arrogant would have to be DmC lead game designer Tameem Antoinaides himself even though some of his points might be valid such as the "Too Japanesey" bit since I did research why throughout Google... It's just not right to generalize one group, but only certain members of the group who makes the group have a notorious reputation... And it is also not right for him to shove his own beliefs down others' throats as he cannot please every DMC fan!
Don't get me wrong here, for I am neither on NT's side here nor am I against them. Every person and thing has two opposing things (i.e. strength and weakness, pro and con) and one side cannot exist with another; that right there is called duality! Two sides of one coin! Yin and Yang!
