Hey dumbfu*ks. I'm here to tell you that you haven't seen sh*t yet. Why the hell are you judging this game over some fu*king hair color. They just released a trailer and a picture. You don't have a fu*king clue what the game is gonna be about. None of us can't tell if the game is gonna be pure awesomeness or garbage. So stop this prejudice.

And excuse my vulgar language, but some of you are really stupid close minded twats. I'm just trying to make a point here.

Yeeeeah, erhm... I somewhat agree with you, but calling people stupid and twats is not the way to go. I agree that people are being too quick to judge and all, but ranting like this will only make them go against you and not have them agree with you.

The vulgar language is unnecessary when making a point.

Yeah, after taking a look on my post, it seems pretty stupid. I was just too angered by those dumb YouTube comments/forum posts/whatevers... I just overreacted.

I think you´re waaaaay overreacting. We all have ours opinions on new "DMC".
I think that the game we are discussing about isn´t DMC anymore, maybe i´m rushing because we haven´t seen the actual gameplay yet but still DMC series is lost if they don´t include old Dante in it.
DMC franchise now looks more like Prince of Persia franchise.First three parts of PoP were connected and the fourth part was game for itself.I think it is happening with DMC too.No hard feelings.^_^

i wouldn't say were close minded as such, its just like ive said before some of us don't play games just for their game play, its for the overall feel we get from it and we know what we like and don't like(a bit like art) you wouldn't watch a horror if you liked comedy and to me its like what kittn said this game looks all too familiar with a generic story and hero, i can understand why people may be interested but it realy isn't for some of us, i personally am not a fan of "western" games per'ce they have to offer something that realy draws me in, if you don't know what i mean by "western" its things like the resi films, silent hill homecoming, the modern take on transformers they can even "westernize" something that was western to begin with like batman begins(which i personally couldn't stand)and for everyone saying this reminds them of twilight, i wouldn't say that either, from the trailer i thought they were trying to go for a saw franchise kinda look, which just aint for me :)

I was extremely upset with what I saw in the trailer...mainly with the character design...but my hatred and overreaction towards this game, especially when there wasn't too much revealed was uncalled for. The NEW Dante isn't that bad really.

I'm actually looking forward to this REBOOT now ^_^ *Capcom hate mode off*

I see your point and I understand why some people would be heavily disappointed, after having read many of the their posts about why they dislike this new re-design of Dante.

As you said, it's about taste. However, those I think are being shallowminded, closeminded, narrowminded or however you wish to put it, are those who absolutely rages over this one trailer we have seen and goes all "THIS GAME IS GONNA SUCK!!!", merely because Dante looks different from his past incarnations. And it is the same people who keeps posting over and over how much they hate this, dissing the game in every chance they get when in reality they don't know how it is going to be like yet.

I've always disliked such mentality in people, such judgemental behaviour. One thing is that they don't like Dante's new look, another thing is to wholy judge the game to be bad because of it.

I'm just glad we get to play as Dante as our main hero once more and not Nero. I'd like to see Nero return though, and the other characters as well, also with a redesign. But just because Nero was the main hero in DMC4, and not Dante, does not mean I am raging over it. I played the game and it is indeed a good game.

I just wish for the fans to give it a chance to prove that it is still Devil May Cry and it is still Dante...

I think there are a few things that concern people

1) EDIT! Ninja Theory
2) Doesn't look like Dante
3) Doesn't look like the trademark sword
4) There isn't anything familiar in the trailer, and you wouldn't guess this was DMC apart from him saying he is Dante and it saying "DMC" at the end
5) Action sequence doesn't seem as fast-paced or humourous as previous games

So there isn't anything positive to focus on, in a lot of people's minds. It isn't just a cosmetic thing, though that is a big kick in the balls to change the lead character this much

As they say first impressions are important. And based on that and the bad taste in my mouth I can't except this as dmc right now.Maybe later but,not now.

The thing is, this is not Devil May Cry and that's not Dante. You have to approach it as a new game. You're trying to tell DMC fans to give a game that is not DMC in the first place a chance. I'm fine if you ask people to approach the reboot as a new game and not to expect any characters or such from the past games. But trying to all of a sudden support a game that looks nothing like DMC from the past is asking for too much faith. That would mean you want everyone to just ignore the other DMC games in sake of this new reboot, and that just doesn't fly with people.

I agree we should wait for new info on the game and such before we say the game actually sucks. It might be great for all we know. But we can't treat it as a DMC game. We can't let Capcom trick us into believing its a honest to goodness DMC game because its not.

Capcom has said that this game doesn't coincide with the other games. Just think of it as a more realistic take on Dante then the past games.

But it -is- Devil May Cry. Capcom made it, the title says Devil May Cry and the main hero is Dante. Deny it all you want, but it doesn't change the facts. Even if the storyline doesn't link with the past games.

And also, I would never ask anyone to simply 'ignore' the past games in the series. They are good games with cool stories... by accepting this game as a DMC game does not equal that you have to hate the rest of the games. I accept it and I love the series.

Capcom can make a puzzle game and call it DMC. Would you think that was DMC just because Capcom said so?

I'm not in denial, i'm just looking at it from a DMC fans view. This is not DMC, this is a reboot, a new game. Practically its a new IP.

And how can you say its a fact when we don't know anything concrete about the game. Everything is all pretty much speculation at this point. There's even doubt that the guy in the video is Dante. We never see him say he's Dante (no the voiceover doesn't count. Even when he yells in the asylum he's chained up in he doesn't sound like the voiceover that says "My name is Dante". It can be another character for all we know). Capcom is known to edit alot of their trailers and make them seem in order when in the final game they're absolutely not. See the past DMC trailers and you'll know what i mean.

Capcom wants to create hype for the game, what better way to create hype then to put a character that looks nothing like the original and proclaim he's the real mccoy Dante in the first place.

Hopefully before TGS ends on Sunday they will release more info on the game so they can quell alot of doubts from DMC fans minds.

You got a point there, it might not even be Dante, however, that sounds a bit like a fake hope of that the Dante we know from previous games will suddenly show up. And that's what I meant with being in denial. I don't know more than either of you, but I don't want to make up things either. I guess we just have to wait and see what they have in store for us this time around.

Yeah... I'll just have to note you a couple of things:

They will either diss the main series story, characters, and everything about it for this new games, or they will delay the sequel of the original series even further.
It kind of strongly points towards the first option, which makes people hate the game and give it less of a chance.

You constantly say that it is just minor things we see in the trailer such as Dante's new appearance. But not only that, we see his attitude, by the way he attacks and moves. We see the atmosphere of the city and that psychological rehab for teenagers or whatever it is, we see the demons, we hear a soundtrack aswell. All which is alien in comparison to the original Devil May Cry.
Makes many fans rage, but let them, seriously, this game may be great but it won't be Devil May Cry as it states.

That is the reason I stay away from it, if it didn't have Dante or DmC as a title and I had looked into it, I might even anticipate it. But this thing in the eyes of many fans is what kills DMC, unless they reboot the whole trailer and all their progress on the game so far.

The new fans move in - The ones who are attracted to this gritty, dark, emaciated smoker version of Dante. Judging from the ones who are already on the capcom unity forums they'll start Calling everyone who wants the old series back trolls and haters.

Why, how could I ever keep feeling like I do in the face of your logic and way with words? I should just change my mind right now because you called me so many colorful names and insults for wanting to see the game that I enjoyed again.

And if you think we're all making our decisions on just a hair color, try reading more carefully next time. Slowly. Get help if you have to. 9.9

We want our Devil May Cry back. That's no crime. And its not closed minded or prejudice or some other BS either. There's no moral high ground. No nobel peace prize for liking this game. This isn't politics or the news.

This is a product you pay for. We're not obliged to like it.
I wasn't in the market for a DmC reboot.
And I'm never in the market for a game with that kind of stereotypical junk for a hero.

I'm an outsider, and I'm here to give my opinion on the forums. I say this as a DMC fan. I've played all the games. I've enjoyed them immensely. And I support Ninja Theory's new direction regarding their adaptation of the DMC series.

"OK, so this isn't the white-haired, suavely styled demon slayer we all know and love," were the first thoughts that popped in my brain when I saw the trailer. I was a little unnerved, but I kept watching, still interested. Dante looked like a rebellious teenager, obviously. But there is something I liked about him. His look was British punk (which came long before Twilight) yet even edgier. And the white patch on the back of his hair kinda sold it to me. Mind you, I'm not completely sold, but I still feel like he has the Dante essence in him.

I can absolutely understand the rage behind fans experiencing a completely different style in regards to an IP. I felt the same way when POP 2008 was released. It wasn't the Prince that I knew and love, but rather some nomadic, thieving stranger. Ironically, it wasn't the look and characterization that I hated, but rather the hand-holding gameplay. I still shake my head with dismay.

I guess what I'm trying to say is just to wait. Wait until we know more about what we're judging. Yes, visuals are important to the game, but let's just wait and see where the ship is going. Give Ninja Theory a chance.

Ats apologized for his rude post and regretted he posted it. Look at the second post on the this page (3rd).

I sympathizes for you fans who find it unfair that Capcom is making this reboot instead of making a new game with the Dante we have all come to know and love from the past games. And of course, if you have already decided that you won't like the upcoming game, then there's not much to do about it.

It is those people who keep flaming DmC in every post they can get near of that annoys me, because it is those who seem shallowminded - and the reason I use the term shallowminded is because we have only seen a teaser trailer as of yet, and already have they made up their mind that this is going to be a sucky game. The phrase "Judging a book by its cover" comes to mind.

I am not sure why people keep saying that he looks sterotypical in DmC. Dante of the past games seems quite stereotypical by Asian gaming culture standards (white hair, long coat, big sword... dare I say... Sephiroth?). That doesn't mean we love him any less.

No, not just hair color, but it seems a lot of people are judging the game merely of appearance of Dante. You can't deny it, because there's really nothing more in the trailer people could bitch about. Other stuff seems relatively "normal" for a DMC game.

And people, how could you not take it as Devil May Cry? It's named Devil May Cry, or DmC and it has Dante in it. We do not know anything about the storyline yet. Who knows, maybe some interesting characters will make a cameo, so everything will make sense. Don't prejudge.
A lot of games have rebooted their storyline and done it very well. Grand Theft Auto IV is just one of them. That game, also restarted in whole new universe. Older games didn't relate to it, everything was new.

And again, ignore my swearing in the other post. I was just pis*ed off at those ignorant YT comments and posts so I decided to "express myself" here. :)
