MilkmyDragon

Well it sure isn't going to milk itself...
I just thought it would be good to summarize what we know so far, here it goes:
-This is 100% a reboot
-This is Dante, a youger, alternate version of him, but still Dante
-Dante is half angel and half demon
-It is not cannon, but still based on the previous games with NT's personal spin to the series, it is set before DMC3, but may not necessarilly tie in to the other games
-Dante's hair is black, but in the new DT it turns white, and by the end of the game will turn white completly (that last part is not officialy confirmed)
-Reuben Langdon will not be doing the new Dante's voice and motion capture
-There will be other DMC characters that we know and love, however we still don't know who they are
-The game will be released in 2012 for the Xbox360 and PS3 ( I am guessing that if it sells well we may be seeing a port for the PC)
-The world Dante is in is controlled by demons, and is alive, with the active environment beeing a big part of the new gameplay
-Dante will have 3 forms, human, angel and demon and he will be able to switch between them on the fly (this will also be the alternative for the styles he had in the previous games with most of the moves beeing incorporated into the 3 forms)
-Dante's DT will fling all surrounding enemies in the air and keep them suspended, also as oposed to the previous DT's Dante will not be faster, but all around him will be slower much like Quicksilver from DMC3
-It is not yet confimed if there will be a style meter, I heard that Tameem disslikes it very much (although that is not confirmed), what we do know is that as you get better and tie in better combos the music will gain additional layers, and get louder

Well I think that pretty much covers that, if you know more please post it below, and I'm sorry if this post is a bit redundant, I just thought it would be nice to have it out there.:)

hey where did you hear that tam tam didn't like the style meter, because i was pretty sure i heard an interview or read an article or something where it said they were gonna use the style meter

Gameinformer Preview at Gamescom

a better detailed analysis of the cathedral

"..Another scenario served as an even more impressive indication of the direction Ninja Theory and Capcom are taking DMC. Dante is once again pulled into Limbo as he enters a cathedral, but this time it’s not the undead he has to fear – it’s the city itself. The floor falls away, revealing another glimpse of horribly roiling netherspace. The walls slam in, closer, closer, trying to crush Dante as he sprints toward a sliver of daylight in front of him. Prominently featuring the chain and his angelic-powered air dash, Dante’s mad dash through the possessed cathedral (which keeps elongating in front of him, refusing to let him go and twisting Euclidean space beyond its natural limits to do so) is almost parkour. Finally, he reaches the stained glass window that offers escape, only to have the wall tilt away from him as the cathedral extends its grasp as far as it can. Dante slides down the animated structure and shoots out the window to allow his weight to clumsily crash through the glass, ending that section of the demo.

The element of the demo that makes me so enthusiastic for DMC is the hardest thing to put into words: the sheer sense of physical threat that the city projects. Walls don’t just grind together in their quest to paste Dante; they slam toward one another in fits and starts. The cathedral toys with Dante, flinging the floor in front of him suddenly out of reach as he sprints away from the malevolent architecture and playing games with the player’s perspective as an exit that seemed so close is yanked away at the last second. The techniques used in DMC are part of successful horror cinema canon for good reason; they evoke gut-twisting reactions by turning around our intuitive grasp of spatial reasoning..."

If I'm not mistaken, somewhere on vidya I think. Like I said, it isn't official or confirmed or anything, I personally hope they keep it.

The style meter is a nice thing and it allows you to see how well you perform, but IF it isn't included in the new game, there is still a way to tell how well you battle; it was stated that the better you fight the layered the music would get. I think the idea of changing music based on your performance is very interesting, but then again, it won't tell as exactly how great you are doing as words such as "stylish" and so on.
I guess the only down side is that that if you are not good at making combos, you will have to listen very simple music all the time. But I still think it's a great idea to have music like that; it would encourage you to fight your ass off and keep up with the combos.

i do as well, i understand this is its own DMC game, but something like the style meter should definitely stay, because that is what makes the devil may cry series different from other hack n' slash games, it shows how stylish your combat is. so i really hope they keep the style meter, and if they do this could measure when the music begins adding multiple layers.
D=simple drums
C=simple drums + bass
B=simple drums + bass + guitar
A=simple drums + bass + guitar + vocals
S=complex drums + bass + guitar + vocals
..and so on

Yeah, it would be the best to keep the style meter. And it would be great to have the meter and music go something like what you mentioned; them who don't care for the meter could just stare the battling and listen how well they do, and people who enjoy the meter's exact wording on how well they do can look at the meter. Besides, the meter is more informative; by looking at it you know how much more you have to do before you reach a next step.

What do you guys think that Dante will use to replenish his health ? I dont think we'll have green orbs again, that would seem kinda ,,unrealistic,, in this DmC

If we won't see green orbs again, some sort of items might be the way to get health back (not hard to guess; there was such things in the previous games also), and if they don't stick just with healing items, maybe there will be some sort of "check point" kind of places, like in some games save points serve as health replenish. Or then they may make something like it, that when Dante defeats an enemy, he earns health back/a dropped item that grants instantly health back.

Now wouldn't that, drugs and cigars, be a funny way to do it. Moreover because they are actually something that should kill instead of furthering life. xD

well i really hope they do keep the green orbs, i mean its not realistic, but neither is a world full of demons while the world tries to kill you lol i think what the mean in terms of keeping it more realistic is with dante's personality and story(whatever that story may be) because dante is more angry and aggressive because of what the demons have done to him, but i see what you guys mean they might use something different for green orbs

you could easily tie it into a story by giving it a purpose and explanation in the context of the game world.

for example you could explain vital stars as potions brewed by alchemists to help hunters recover from injuries on the field.

yes! i like your idea :] WE NEED VITAL STARS!

I just hope they don't give him regenarating health. I never played a game where I really liked the idea of it, and I also hope they find a way to keep the green orbs and vital stars.

Also what do you think will supstitude the red orbs, and how will they go about doing that, and the whole upgrade sistem and stuff?

About the regenarating health, you're right, it does not fit AT ALL in a DMC game. Like others have said, I think we'll get XP points for beating enemies and stuff, I hated in DMC4 that thing with pride souls, I just hated it !

If the health just regenerates back, it would be too easy. I've played some games while outside of a battle your health always regenerates when you walk or just stand still and that really doesn't suit Devil May Cry! Even if I am not a player who can just waltz through hard modes, I still don't think such an easy way to get HP back should be used in DmC. Though, since DmC is also made to lure in newcomers, maybe the game could have a "very easy mode", much like what is in Bayonetta; then the beginners would have something with which to practice first.

And yeah, I agree on it that we'll probably get now experience points system. I just wonder, if it ends up being the EXP, then how will it be handled; can you choose yourself on what you use the points, or will the game automatically decide it for you? I hope the player can choose, really, even in the previous games you could buy the skills you most wanted first and then the rest.

I hope they fix the UI. I've never liked it in dmc, its too distracting. And the style system should remain, so it can act as the Q when the music changes. I was thinking, what if an announcer would yell out when you reached S, SS, and SSS instead of you having too avert your eyes. Like MvC3 yells out crap. of course havee the option to turn on and off. It would give it an arcade feel.
