Maybe a bit of both? They could be interrogating him in a psychiatric hospital run by demons.
Some of the concept art also points towards The Order HQ being this place where they experiment on subjects; and there's that image of Vergil with blood on his gloves surrounded by Order followers.

That could have been what they were going for at first seeing as the concept art points towards that sort of thing. But in the actual game, the most we get is, like you say, Dante saying he was told that he was crazy for seeing demons.

the gameplay showed less than a year after the announcement trailer which showed gameplay very similar to what we have now show that they always knew what they were going for, just like how dmc4's gameplay was nothing like the teaser trailer which featured final fantasy dante

don't see how car throwing wouldn't ruin the stylish gameplay or how annoying and ridiculous it would it get seeing cars in random places for no reason, they probably decided, "this is gimmicky" because it is

grabbing demons is good for continuing combos so they kept it in the game and it helps things like jump canceling, car throwing would not

They've done that in UK. No smoking in a public place anywhere. Not in schoolyards, or pubs or train stations (open air ones). Only place to smoke now is at home or specially marked smoking areas.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but the smoking thing was in a trailer. A trailer. Come on people, I didn't see Dante smoking anything in the game itself. If Loopy's post is anything to go by, NT meant to show that Dante is still pretty much a rebel just in a more modern sense. It's presenting an image of what can be expected.

The whole point of a reboot is to use elements from past lore and create a fresh, new beginning, independent of the original.

MGR threw out the established notion of Raiden quitting fighting, I don't see anyone complaining about it, because apparently MGR is the DmC killer.

I wouldn't mind at all if Dante smoked in DmC. It's no different to Uncle Dante eating a **** ton of greasy oily pizza. Both will kill you, but since both Dante's aren't affected by them, they do it because they like it. Its called not giving a ****, which is something Dante will always have.

You mean because arbiter is slow, or because it raises the ranking points to quickly? I agree it does up the ranking too fast, and that is one of the things I'd want to see fixed if there is another game. This time round it was just too easy to get the triple S ranking thanks to that weapon.

no because the arbiter can be used for stylish combos, just like how DRI can be used for more than just killing bosses in literally less than a minute but of course let's just ignore that but dmc4 is perfect right -_-

There's still some ignorance about the DmC Style system's risk vs reward factor - do something like Trinity Smash at the wrong time, and you'll get stabbed in the back while you can't do anything. Do it at the right time, however, and profit.

I find the argument about that mechanic's ease sorta invalid too, since Pandora's "Revenge" laser cannon offered copious amounts of Style for pretty much the exact same reason - it took a moment to get out, but paid out a lot of Style. It could also be easily spammed. Plus, the laser when on forever, so it had a greater range than Arbiter and Trinity Smash could ever hope for.
