The Skeptics Are Here To Stay(in defense of skeptics, but also looking for new pro-DmC forum)

Downfall

Well-known Member
I posted this because I wanted to be objective.

I'll start off with the defense of the skeptics:

Everyone, new members and old alike, leave them alone. If you don't like what they have to say, just don't listen, even if it's in reply to a supporter of DmC's post.

Some may state their opinions in a series of veiled insults and back-handed arguments, but that's no reason to be aggressive towards them because of it.

A few out there, however, have legitimate complaints against DmC, and do so without being insulting at the same time. DmC as a series (if there ever will be a sequel, that is) cannot improve without making the actual gameplay, level design, script, and story better.

However, if you don't like what a skeptic has to say, then put them on your ignore list and don't think about them.

But, this also goes for the skeptics as well. If someone compliments DmC, leave them alone. Put them on ignore if that's not what you want to hear.

Now, onto my second half of the point in this thread:

I see every day that more and more skeptics are joining this site. However, instead of offering legitimate complaints, they come in to bother people who are genuinely trying to enjoy talking about DmC and those who don't support it, but also are trying to come up with honest constructive criticism to improve the franchise.

I see very little being done about this. There are next to no warnings for those who come to annoy the supporters simply for liking the game. It has become rather disheartening.

Which is why I'm asking if anyone has seen or heard about any other pro-DmC forums out there -- I think, if one cannot be found, then, those who would want one would simply have to wait until 1) the skeptics who insult others leave this forum or 2) wait for another forum to be made.

However, I myself am going to be staying here for the time being. I don't want this forum to be overrun by people who hate the game, but that's what I'm seeing. I keep having to ignore more and more people who make increasingly vicious posts against the supporters.

For now, I'm trying to remain optimistic. In the long run however, I'm honestly not sure if any of that will matter.

There will always be stupid supporters and there will always be stupid skeptics. And because of those, there will always be this endless conflict. Respecting eachothers opinions and make mature discussions are not two qualities that lie in the gamers' nature.

Though I respect the fact that you tried (because I've tried too), I can say through experience that this won't ever happen. There ARE people on here who can have a mature discussion and respect others' opinions, but there will always be those who just don't care.

Agreeing with you, Downfall. Some people seem to come on here it seems to intentionally cause conflict under the guise of their 'opinion'.Hoestly I'm not sure if these people are trolls. Sometimes I wonder....

But, if you don't want this kind of person on the forum, don't pay any attention to them. They think they are a big fish in a small pond. Well someday the pond will dry up and they will die.

Just ignore posters who you think are causing trouble/ trolling. Use your own judgement and if a discussion gets too heated for whatever reason, don't let it turn into flaming. It makes whoever is involved look bad.

Like you say, Zero, everyone try to be respectful, but there are memebers here who just rigidly stick to their view, and their view is the only right one. The worst are ones who belittle other memebers. Honestly, I wonder how these people behave in real life. :ermm: Maybe in real life they are losers? Maybe they do this because they don't care? On th internet being anonymous does give people confidence to insult and bully. Sad fact of the internet I guess.

I don't think you will find a Pro-DmC forum.
Sometimes it was just easier to keep your opinions to yourself. I know it's not the way to do things, but if you want to avoid an argument then that is what you have to do. Or you post it and and to hell with the consequences.

I've been flamed a few times... but if people can't respect your opinion, that's their poison (DmC got released... it's time to get over it... Also Dante's hair changes colour... what more do you want...)

I only put people on my ignore list iif they genuinely deserve it.

are there still DmC skepics? I thought after the game was release you either buy it, wait for it get cheap and buy it, or decide not to buy it and move on. How can you still be undecided when you can watch the whole game, for free, on youtube and still be like....well... i dunno...it looks good but, um.... i dunno. Its like they've never made a decision in their lives.

I honestly cannot believe there is still hating on this game. By now, who really gives a **** anymore?

Lets take myself as an example, I don't like DmC and don't intend to buy it since it doesn't offer what I am looking for. DmC isn't some perfect game that everyone should buy, not at all.

Those who are interested in DmC, go ahead and buy it, just don't say it is superior ro DMC3/4.

See, but you're fine. For you, DmC is something that's not your liking, but you don't go around posting 'this is crap' and having a go at other members for expressing normal levels of like for the game.

What I think is annoying people here are members who go out of their way to upset and belittle opinions of people who like the game in a normal, not fanatical way. Like they had a fun time with it, but other member refuses to accept this and tries to argue about how not fun it is.

As for me, I had fun with the game, I liked the story, but I'm not going to be all 'best gave ever made'. It had its faults, but not enough for me to not have a fun time with it. ^_^

You can without doubt have fun with DmC. I had some fun with the demo but I found it to be just a little too easy on Nephilim which made me sad.

I will by some point borrow the game and play on SoS and DMD to see how it compares to the previous games DMD.

Got to admit, it is easier. Even on DMD and SOS modes, so long as you know all the moves and know all moves of enemies and how to counter, you'll do fine. It become more a game of crowd control where you isolate one enemy and kill it quickly, then move to the next.

I feel like I'm in this category to some extent, and I apologies if my methods aren't to your liking. But it's my way, I argue points because I actually like to push people for their opinions so I can look at them in detail properly. I really don't like it when people assume I'm just trying to make myself 'look big' because I couldn't care less about that, for me personally I join a forum to discuss and have heated debates, so that's what I'll do.

I think that's fine also, if a genuine debate is what you want. Questioning is fine because I think it makes us examine why we think this way or have this opinion, possibly also opens us up to think about the other side of the argument.
What I don't like is when name calling gets thrown around because one person does not like the opinion of the other, like 'oh, you're an idiot for thinking that' but then that statement is not backed up why reasons why, just an insult.

I'm honestly surprised people are so overcome with anger over a game that they feel the need to endlessly bash people for liking something they don't. I mean sure, I've seen similar things happen before with other games but not to this extent. It's absurd. The idiocy I've seen from both sides over this game is at an astronomical level.

If you disagree with someone fine...but don't resort to insults because you don't have a constructive counterargument. It's just stupid.

I've been a member here for a long time but haven't been active on it until some time ago so maybe I don't have the right to say this but I'll say it anyway. I couldn't care less what happens outside this forum because I like it here, so keep it civil people.

So, you get to decide what people can and cannot say? And then say for a fact that, ''this game is or is not superior to that game''... and that no one can argue with that fact? It's the perfect, ''heads I win, tails, you lose,'' scenario.

Welcome to my ignore list. -_-

I don't like it either, but it's a far better alternative than incessant arguing.
I don't really know about that. I mean sure if the debate sinks low and gets into a vulgar territory, but there's nothing wrong with discussing two opposing opinions.

Oh come on now, it is a fact that the combat in DmC isn't as good as the combat in DMC3/4.

If you are gonna be childish about it, go ahead then.

I dunno if this is correct but I feel a bit of misinterpretation going on here. He said "Don't say it is superior to DMC3/4" in the sense that no one does have the right to state that as fact. People can say why they think the game is superior, but they shouldn't say it is.

Discussing is fine, but refusing to accept the other opinion while touting your own as the only acceptable one is pointless. That is not a debate. That's using the forum as a podium for an over-inflated ego.
