The future of DmC

Probably doesn't.

It's just your posts about 'original' fans irritated me, for Sonic anyway

well I can't see how it irritated you.

Especially since I pointed out the fact that the fans weren't truly pleased until Sonic Colors.

I never denied that fact, but you can't deny that a Sonic game hasn't been as well received until Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations was released.

As you said, some where average such as Sonic and the Secret Rings and some where flops such as Sonic Unleashed (mostly due to the hated werehog crap) so I only used Sonic Colors and Sonic generations as a basis for my argument earlier on what happens when a comany actually LISTENS to fans and learn from their past mistakes.

They should give this game back to its original creature
Kamiya

I doubt that. Capcom and Kamiya already have differences and Kamiya's still against Capcom for taking DMC from him. Capcom is fickle and I doubt they'll be giving up DMC anytime soon.

Plus I wouldn't want Kamiya taking DMC now. From what Bayonetta showed, I fear that Kamiya would stern farther from the DMC DNA then DmC apparently did.

I loved DmC ninja theory hell i am hyped for vergils downfall but hey...its CAPCOM we are talking about they want money $$$
and haters are still ****ed about the new DmC so CAPCOM are changing plans for sure cuz its all about $$$

I wouldnt mine them doing DMC 5 and 2 years later DmC 2 , two teams working on DMC to keep the franchise going and fresh just like Assassins Creed

I just hope to see a DmC2 again. New Dante has become my most favorite Dante and I would hate to never see him again just because fans demand the old series back. New Dante's gathered a pretty large fanbase already.

its going to be a next gen marvel. graphics out of your freaking mind, your brain will be orgasiming at rates unknown to mankind. the frame rate will be so damn high your eyes will transcend to a higher plane. the mechanics will be so god damn awesome you will actually find yourself absorbed into limbo and physically become dante. or as i like to put it

I personally want the original story to continue or at least conclude and see the original Dante voiced by Reuben Langdon again as well as see Trish, Lady and the original Vergil return.

I hate this reboot and I don't wanna see it continue, I'm afraid of thinking how ugly and unlikable Trish and Lady will turn out if they are put in DmC2, but if it has to go that way then happy days for the DmC fans but, I'll just stick to my original DMC games and other HnS titles.

Not you personally, just reminded of sonic forums where they continually bitched about the new games (7-10 years ago mind you), probably still bitching now about being 'true' fans.

The fans who weren't pleased were mostly of the forums-based type, Sonic Unleashed had decent reviews (6/10 is not bad), did pretty well, around 2.8m (more than DmC), and they've had 2D Sonic in the form of handheld games for awhile eg. Rivals, Advance and they did pretty well also. I think the 3D/2Dness of Generations was more due to them capitalising on an Anniversary.

I don't think they actually were listening, more like coincidence otherwise they would have returned to 2D Sonic at least a decade earlier.

Edit: In DmC, there's like a odd feeling to the story, like they were forced to compromise. Phineas gives off Constantine vibes, while the shifting to limbo and Dante's original look and trailer made it look like there was a plot to do with reality and delusions in Dante's mind (like in Darkness 2).
If they do DmC2 they should go all out towards their own story or not bother making DmC2.

Hopefully DmC2 does come out, in a lot of ways even though DmC is the fifth game in a series, it's also has elements of a new IP since it is such a different and new direction and most new IP's in fact 90% of them sell just okay it's rare to have one sell amazing. Look at Assassin's Creed. The first game received average scores and was at best a moderate success but it did well enough to justify a sequel where the developers could really stretch their wings and make the near perfect AC2(still the best one imo)

I think if DmC2 were to come out it would probably be a similar situation, fixing almost all the issues with the first one and improving upon it greatly to make an almost perfect entry. I'm being optimistic of course but I feel as though DmC has a lot more creative potential that DMC5 as Capcom had spent it's creative capital on the original Dante as we can see with DMC4. He has no where else to go as a character and Nero is just a lackluster imitation of the original Dante. Even the team that made DMC2, 3, 4 are tired of him and didn't really want to do another one when Capcom ordered DMC4 which is why so many of them have moved on to Dragon's Dogma, a game that will let them be creative again.

Battle Network 6's combat was TEH SHET, I loved transforming into a beast, AND THEN adding a new armor..because I could, but yes, despite the hate battle network got when compared to X (Just like DmC), CAPCOM made the game's progressively better and what do you know? the game has a fanbase, just like DmC.

Also guys, If CAPCOM continued Starforce, they sure as hell will continue DmC...(I love you Starforce)

Dante's adventures in Limbo are far from over, DmC: Devil may Cry 2 in 2015, BELIEVE!

That is because the game was successful in drawing a new fanbase unlike DmC because it targeted a new audience or tried to...its not like Capcom expected a strategic RPG to appeal to all MegaMan fans, who were fans of its hard jump and shoot platforming. DmC was made initially to draw in a new audience but in turn was made to appeal to old school fans but that failed.

MegaMan's fanbase to this day is still divided into those who like the platforming ones (Original & X) and the RPG ones (Battle Network & StarForce) as well as the spin-offs (Zero & ZX) but most fans can actually agree on Legends for some reason.

My point is Battle Network was able to succeed due to it being able to meet Capcom's sales expectations and appeal to a new audience plus it had an anime/morning cartoon to draw kids into the series (that is how I got introduced to it). Plus if you haven't noticed Capcom now isn't the same they were back then.

Anyway the only thing that can justify a DmC2 is DmC's good reviews and critical acclaim by critics but all DMC games (even 2) got those so DmC ain't so special.

To be honest I loved this new approach to the game. Amazing graphics, fresh start for the Dante story to go to different directions and the Limbo idea at 1st was unsettling but once i went in the game deep, i loved the concept. I dnt know what all these people are so angry about it ? I mean things change at some point and as everyone played DMC1,2,3 & 4 u could see towards the end, there was so much repetition...i mean the 1st one was ok for its time... 2nd one was BS, the 3rd Kicked ass. The 4th one didnt play but as i have read, not so much out of it. I mean what turns ya off from the Reboot??? Dante is a bad ass, He is emotional as a human and devilish at times, the combo moves, the Camera settings, the story, the new age for the two brothers, the new graphics, the new potential that the game has.... the controls, what ??? i dnt get it.... new age, new graphics, new everything with keeping somethings as the base... such Dante's attitude, Vergil, same combo moves, same clothes in away, alot of things are similar with new changes. just give it time and if they r planning to make a 2nd one... lets help them to make it better... not go back in time, keep some things from the older games but keep adding new things and Oh God! lets Keep this Dante!!!

I can't wait to see what DmC may have in store for us in the future. With the next Gen consoles on the way (Please don't mention PC to me, I'm not going to spend a thousand dollars on a PC when I don't even have a job and I'm not even old enough to drive), the visuals and framerates should be off the charts in a display of beautiful colors and awesome textures.

DmC has enough creative potential to spawn new games up to DmC5, which may possibly end instead of dragging it on forever like DMC4. Its an entire new universe which is a hell of a fun, and leaves the door open to unimaginable potential.

"Mog agrees with you, kupo!"

well I never called it a flat out failure, I said they could use a supposed failure from DmC as a reasoning behind going back to the original series to give it 1 final shot.

It still has sold good, but we can't deny that it ended up being WAY below what Capcom was expecting.

And as far as the DMC5 thing goes, they did indeed **** of some fans, but should Capcom actually LISTEN to what the fans want for the next installment I'm sure all would be forgiven, at least from the original fans who still loved the original series perspective.

Just look at Sonic, it had a slew of failures from Sonic the hedgehog 2006 all the way up to Sonic Unleashed.

Many fans where ****ed during this period.

But once Sega actually started to LISTEN to their fanbase we got great Sonic games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations which are both regarded as very successful fan favorites.

Now that you mention it, i can see Capcom at least faking that they will hear the fans. Look what they are doing with Super Street Fighter IV right now: the next update will take into consideration what people thinks needs to be balanced, improved or taken out from the game. They seem to have taking this in a serious manner (even with all the bullshit and retarded purposes in C-U forums) and even "hired" people like Combofiend (famous UMvC3 player) to moderate the forums and gather the data for them. But well, if things went OK with Street Fighter, i think we can have some hope that this time they will listen to our complains sincerely and what we think that would be good to implement in a new DMC game from our standpoint as fans.

Returning to the topic:

I don't really know about what the new engines can offer to devs, we barely see any game coming from them right now, but most of the features for that main engines focuses on graphics and "realistic physics" like they talked about the smoke in that new Call of Duty. We'll have to wait until we see some new things these engines will bring to us besides realistic smokes and fishes getting out of your way.
