The future of DmC

So soon new consoles will be announced, if they are able to handle Unreal 4, do you think there is a chance DmC2 may use this? It seems like this U4 may be able make DmC run at 60 while keeping what Ninja Theory wants which is enviorments that are alive. Also what things do you think the new consoles will allow Ninja to do? Ps4 is supposed to have a touch pad, i can imagine this being used to open the menu as well as taunt(there isnt any start/select).

Well first is a DmC2 or even another Devil May Cry game in general gonna be made? Cause the way I see it, Capcom might not make any DMC at all if DmC doesn't pick up the slack.

Its at about 800000 sold copies it seems to be doing well, bayonetta started slow then hit 1 million eventually.

But Capcom expected A LOT more from this title as far as sells goes.

And knowing how money hungry Capcom is the future looks bleak unless DmC can pick up.

Or they could use a supposed failure to make a DMC5 in 1 final attempt to save the series.

All in all, this can either make the series (by either giving us a DmC2 or DMC5) or break the series.

But DmC wasn't THAT big of a failure. It still sold a large number of copies either way. If they did do a DMC5, I'm not so sure it will be accepted so quickly. Capcom p*ssed off a lot of fans, and for them to just take DMC5 with no arguments seems to good to be true.

well I never called it a flat out failure, I said they could use a supposed failure from DmC as a reasoning behind going back to the original series to give it 1 final shot.

It still has sold good, but we can't deny that it ended up being WAY below what Capcom was expecting.

And as far as the DMC5 thing goes, they did indeed **** of some fans, but should Capcom actually LISTEN to what the fans want for the next installment I'm sure all would be forgiven, at least from the original fans who still loved the original series perspective.

Just look at Sonic, it had a slew of failures from Sonic the hedgehog 2006 all the way up to Sonic Unleashed.

Many fans where ****ed during this period.

But once Sega actually started to LISTEN to their fanbase we got great Sonic games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations which are both regarded as very successful fan favorites.

Well as long as they don't listen to EVERYTHING fans say. There's a fine line between "pleasing your fans" and "letting your fans rule you."

Of course, as I pointed out, Sega obviously listened to the feedback that they knew would be used to please all parties such as getting rid of gimmicks (Sonic werehog and Sonic with a sword) and putting more emphasis on speed which was what the fans had been asking for.

In that we got Sonic Colors.

Then fans asked for a return to the classic formula and they attempted Sonic the Hedgehog 4 which although was a step in the right direction did not pull of the desired result.

But they then corrected it with the release of Sonic Generations.

You see, the developer and company should definitely listen to what the fans want, but not be beholden to their every whim, listen to what they know will please all parties and work towards that.

Got me there.

Do you think they might actually try the Sonic generations approach and put new Dante and old Dante in the same game? There'd definitely be pros and cons to that, but the cons will out weigh the pros.

Well they did not listen at all and we can see result of that. I know that fans cant have whole power but Capcom should realise right now that healthy balance is best.

All parties? I thought Sonic's target audience were just kids and Sonic 4 was a poor attempt at nostalgia while Generations was a good one.

DmC is not that different or old enough to warrant a Generations game.

uhhh no.

Because kids would not be caught up in "nostalgia" since they weren't even born yet when the older titles was made.

Which means if anything their main target was the older fans.

But the added modern sonic in Generations could have been for the younger generations.

And Sonic Colors Had both old school 2.D Gameplay and the newer 3.D gameplay, so yea, all parties (old and new).

And yea, DMC doesn't need a generations title.

No, I meant nostalgia to bring some older players back, kids were always the target audience since I'm sure it they're the biggest demographic for Sonic.

Sonic Generations might have had a much bigger hook for nostalgic players, the main target were always kids otherwise you could say that NSMB main target was older fans since it's packed with references to the older games.

But I'm getting off-topic.

Its more likely for a DMC 5 to be made now

I doubt it, the sales of DmC points to the fact that DMC is not that popular anymore, and despite all the shouting on the internet I don't think the general populace takes notice of it.

kids were always the target

.

well perhaps.

But your posts still doesn't disprove my claim earlier that Sega aimed to please "all parties" with Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors which both had classic 2.D gameplay and newer 3.D gameplay in 1 game.

Capcom? Make a sequel to a game that didn't sell well?

That sounds more stupid than Gabe Newell counting to 3.

Probably doesn't.

It's just your posts about 'original' fans irritated me, for Sonic anyway, they've hated every game since Adventure 1 despite it not being developed for them and the only two major missteps in Sonic were the Shadow game and Sonic 2006 (don't know what they were trying to do there) everything after that was at least average, liked and sold enough for sequels. I think everybody disliked Sonic 2006 not just fans.

'Original' fans being forum-based weirdos, not the average former fan on the street.
