I....I.... no... WHAT DID I JUST READ?
I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this.
DMC is not dead, despite fan speculation. Any monkey can see the potential that Capcom have let lay idle on the side. You guys are like conspiracy theorists of the world. Doomsday preachers, y'know? That's what it's coming across to me as. There were lots of members who have (and probably still agree with you) been spouting things like Dante is old and stale and boring and he's all worn out long before DmC was ever announced. And look what happened. Capcom listened to the vocal minority and look what happened.
DmC happened.
Now if you're going to sit here writing all about how the old series is done and dusted and how the reboot is the way to go, I tell you what, it's the biggest load of hogwash I've ever read. Hypocritical much? What, you think NT sucked those ideas out of the air? This is a reboot to an established cult classic franchise. If there was nothing left to milk out of DMC, then where the hell did DmC come from?
They followed the storyline basics of the original and chose to elaborate on certain aspects of it, which the original didn't. That doesn't mean DmC is brand spanking new. So, follow me here in train of thought: if the original series was completely bereft of potential and had nowhere to go, how then did DmC come into being? If the original series was dead, wouldn't that mean DmC is heading down the exact same track, considering it is following but expanding on the already existing universe and concept?
Maybe this is just my way of thinking about it. I like DmC, don't get me wrong, and I love the classic series. I'm not biased and I have no true preference to either. They're both equal in certain parts from my point of view. So when I see someone say the original series is complete, it makes me wonder, well does that mean DmC will only have four instalments as well, then? Will it end with another controversial game that make Capcom go, whoops, we kinda cornered ourselves here again fellas? I just.... this whole idea of DMC being done and DmC being the future just doesn't compute in my head, sorry. Both have tons of potential, not one more than the other. /end rant
On topic: Bayonetta 2 would tide me over for a while. I still need to play Bayonetta through on all difficulty levels, AND the same goes for DmC.
