Sparda's Legacy

The only thing that worries me about the reboot, is what became of Sparda. I remember watching the original devil may cry intro, and thinking how extremely badass this demon was.
We all know Sparda's story is the driving force of all the other games, and that historical figures only become legends after they die, but if Sparda didn't rebel against the demonic army alone and instead was imprisoned for his love of an angel, then where does the story go from here?
Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that he's still alive somewhere in the underworld, but it just seems like his legacy was cut really short.

We don't know the entire situation with Sparda's betrayal of Mundus, butu the fact he did fall in love with someone who was by nature his enemy says a lot for the changes he already caused in the setting's world, to teh point he and Eva took human guises to hide themselves and the twins

Well, it seems pretty clear to me how this changes the story. Instead of being sealed away only to find a gateway in some faraway island someday, Mundus was free to subjugate mankind. The demons totally won- that's what DmC is about, unveiling the demonic influence on mankind and undermining it.

So yeah, it is sort of sad that Sparda's legacy is getting totally screwed by Mundus, but it's clear that Sparda did a lot of interesting things before this happened to him. I don't think you'll be too disappointed.

Maybe they changed Sparda's story so Dante wasn't always living in his shadow. With the original Dante, he was always called, "Sparda's son." Only after that was he called by his name. Those with a parent or sibling that everyone knew and admired will understand just how annoying that can get. You lose your identity, in a way. This way Dante has a chance to make his own legacy, rather than be known for his father's. That's how I see it, at least.

The sparda story is mostly like paradise lost.
lucifer=sparda trapped in torment after defying a god=mundus.
It seems like in this series Dante is not feared much as the original series because the demons won.
Like look at poison's attitude she says Dante has no chance of defeating her.

Yeah, I'm a little bummed by it, too. Sparda was apparently a big deal as Mundus's lieutenant, but he doesn't seem to have any heroic victories while standing on his own. No grand rebellion, no trouncing an emperor and his entire army, no splitting apart two worlds using his own power. So Dante and Vergil will achieve everything Sparda never could right out of the gate. I'm hoping as we find out more and they show Sparda was more legendary, that he did something huge to **** Mundus off besides going AWOL with an angel and making special emperor-killing babies with her.

Sparda did do all the legwork for Mundus in his actual bid for power.

I actually sorta like this, because Sparda in the classics was almost too great. It was a lot for Dante to have to live up to, which was interesting in its own way, but, I dunno, DmC Sparda's legacy fits with the more contemporary feel.

I though find Sparda's demon form in this series.
Classic bipedal red horned guy with tail. NOTHING special but great at all times.

I kinda like that silly design. It's vintage by today's standards, because no one just ever uses that sort of design anymore. It's almost refreshing to see that horns and tail design used in a serious way. Although, I still have that inkling that it's just an "artist's representation" and isn't what he actually looks like. If he does, I'll be happy n.n

"What's this monster with spikes and wings?"
"Dunno, must be a demon or something?"

"What's this red dude?"
"DEFINITELY demon!"

Classic design used for over a millennium.
