Sparda still alive??!!!

rocketvergil

Vergil's apprentice, the successor to yamato
Int the demo it says that Sparda is imprisoned by mundus and not dead or missing!!
So does that mean we get to see him in action
Just like the father son trio of goku and his sons :w00t:

He probably gives the remainder of his power to seal the demons away, then dies. What remains of his soul manifests as a powerful weapon named after him. A weapon Dante uses to defeat the demon king, and a weapon the brothers may fight over in the end to decided who takes control of the demon world and either claims the birthright of a son of Sparda- Or seals away the evil for good.

yea, not to sound like a jerk, but if Sparda is alive in this game I hope it isn't for long.

It's just that, the legend of Sparda in the old games was great because he did something pretty badazz and died a long time ago leaving behind a great legacy.

In this game I think Sparda should die in a similar way but not before meeting Vergil and Dante.

Sparda was never proven dead in the classics. He disappeared, and that's all anyone ever knew of his fate, but he was never, ever officially stated to be dead. Just...gone.

Yes but he was as good as dead
But here it is said that he is imprisoned which confirms that he is alive and we can expect to see him in action

Being dead and being absent are two very different things. They left Sparda's location ambiguous, and there's always the possibility of bringing him back randomly at some point.

when a person is missing, it is either that he is dead or missing.
but when they say he is imprisoned, the possibility of death is ruled out

Death is a possibility in a disappearance, but not an inevitable outcome.

Why are you arguing about this? I was just correcting a guy who said Sparda was dead in the classics, when there's no proof of any such thing :/

yea, your correction was unwarranted here sorry lol.

I'm actually right going by the intro from DMC1 that says clearly that he died.

So yea, correcting what exactly?:P

And I know it was said in later games he "disappeared" but considering DMC1 is the original DMC game created by the original creator of DMC I'm going to go off of what was said there.

And yet the rest of the series goes about talking about him only having disappeared. You can't cherry-pick what you want to believe about the entire series :/

You bastard! beat me to the punch, why don't ya'?

It's the intro to the franchise, it's pretty solid ground. This is the clearest statement of Sparda's fate and the establishing source for the mythos.

But even if he is alive, I dont think he is gonna stay that way.
He might be sacrificing his life to seal up mundus in the end of DmC.

When exactly do they say that he is alive but just vanished? I don't recall anyone saying he that he ain't dead or that he dissapeared in any of the sequels.

It's just all this mystery around his disappearance I guess, and the DMC writing staff's inability to make a cohesive story :/ Whenever anyone mentions him post DMC1, they talk as if he's just out there somewhere, not as though he's dead.

It's like they think he's on a beach somewhere drinking pina coladas or something >.<

I think the implication was that only his family knows what happened since to the rest of the world he just stopped doing stuff and went away when infact he just settled down and had a family. What others know is only what they've heard in legend and only Dante and the demons know his fate.

itd be interesting if sparda lives to see Dante and Vergil, id like to see this reunion which was sorely lacking in the originals.
