You're right. It's just too uncomfortable. Even on a subconscious level for the people who claim to be comfortable with it.
The only reason people even succumb to their desires in the first place is because their very DNA demands it on a very primal, survival-based level, literally punishing us with feelings of loneliness and regret if we fail to act upon those demands. Not just with the physical act itself, but also with the very idea of not simply not being alone.
There just isn't any need for those base instincts in this day in age. (there are seven billion people on the planet, we're not going anywhere anytime soon) And there probably never will be again. They need to sell those pills they have in "The Giver", where you no longer have "The Stirrings" if you take it.
I'd take those pills. lol. That would be nice.
We are social creatures. It's not just in our nature, but it's something we're taught from birth. And if a person isn't social or doesn't show an interest in being around others in any way, it's immediately thought that something's wrong with that person. So it's not just genetic, it's society. It's annoying.
