Sequel already in work?

No they planned from the very beginning that it will be just half of a game
Yeah even back in 2008 DMC4 felt rushed with the whole half a game thing and the combat engine feeling exactly the same as the one from dmc3, improved yes and still awesome, but the code was probably copy and pasted and altered from there.

And a loss for DMC fans. No DMC5 anytime soon...
Yeah =(

Well, Capcom lied to the fans, Again.
They said they wanted to open more doors to the series and that DmC won't replace the original DMC.
I have not probs with getting DmC2 and DMC5, But seriously, NO DMC5? =(

The funny thing is, DmC didn't sell as much as DMC4 in the first week. Then why the hell keep making DmC games and no DMC games?

Because to them, it makes sense to abandon an established series, shyit on fans, and continue making sequels for a reboot that no one even wanted in the first place. Face it: No one asked for a reboot. I mean, it's quite clear that Capcom didn't want DMC5. If they did, they would've done it themselves. They didn't need NT for it. They went to NT for something else; A reboot.

I find it funny that people actually thought both DmC and DMC were going to run side-by-side. That's like saying the Schumacher Batman movies were going to release alongside the Nolan Batman films; or Sam Raimi and Marc Webb were going to take turns releasing their respective Spider-Man movies.

There was never going to be a DMC5 after Capcom handed the series to NT.

This is true but we cannot jump to any conclusions just yet. I will agree that no one really asked for DmC and that it is also obvious that Capcom does not at this point want to spend the time or money making DMC5, most of that team migrated to other games like Dragon's Dogma and seemed to have been spent by DMC4. I still have hope that the original is not dead, if anything, it's long hiatus might actually boost a DMC5's sales dramatically. I do still know it's capcom we are dealing with and they care little about killing off established franchises, but at least DMC has more of a shot than Megaman

Although you bring a good point, you forget that Schumacher's Batman movies were ass, while Nolan's weren't. So of course those movies weren't going to continue. That case scenario is very different because a reboot was actually NEEDED. DMC isn't ass, and it didn't need a reboot. It's funny that fans who were still loyal, passionate, and supportive of the original series can't get DMC5 because of Capcom's shyitty business methods?

Like ZeroLove once said, cling onto hope until it has completely perished. Don't be pessimistic. No one thought there was going to be another Castlevania game taking place in the original canon after it got a reboot, but what do you know?

DMC still had a lot of potential. But meh, if Capcom mistreated Megaman, what made people think they wouldn't mistreat Dante? lol...

True, the Batman reboot was needed. The DMC to DmC reboot is better compared to the Spider-Man 3 (hereby known as SM) to The Amazing Spider-Man (TASM) reboot. SM3 left the series in shambles, a former shell of what it once was; from being garnered as the best superhero movie ever in SM2 to a sequel that landed in a lot of people's Top 10 worst superhero movies. The same goes for DMC3 to DMC4, although not quite as dramatic of a fall. I thoroughly enjoyed DMC4 for what it was, the same as I appreciated DmC for what it was.

But your point still stands and I agree whole-heartedly, DMC was not really in need of a reboot, a DMC5 that cleared up the questions raised by DMC4 would have been well received. Similar to the way a Spider-Man 4 could have saved Raimi's SM franchise, but was marred by production and studio troubles. Compare this to Capcom's seemingly "over it" attitude with DMC and subsequent decision to ship it off to another developer a la Sony's decision to ship Spider-Man off to a different director.

But as you and several others have pointed out before: Megaman has been around for decades; Dante for just over 11 years. Dante is more than expendable.

wat why the hell would you have DT+DD toned down? It's one of the most potent combos for racking up points and dealing serious damage. The window for activation is also exceedingly narrow and it's not like you're completely invulnerable as you travel.
If you get caught in Butcher's horizontal saw blade attack you still lose health.
You need DT+DD to reach SSS in the higher difficulties, without it you won't be able to traverse the stage and beat the enemies fast enough.
You can complain about the battle/combo mechanics of the game being too easy once you've beaten all HAH stages and Bloody Palace with all SSS rankings.
The falling off cliffs mechanics definitely need to be tweaked though, it should be made possible to fall off during a ground attack, or dodge.
youdont need demon dodge are you kidding?? its so broken its probably the worst thing they could have put in the game. im sorry but if you honestly need DD to get a triple S then you arent very good. i have SSS in 15/20 of the DMD missions and i didnt even buy it cause i despise it as a game mechanic so damn much.

I would just like to put in my two cents on something.

I, for one don't even want a DMC5, but it's not because of the story (though it's one of the reasons but not the main one), it's not about the character, it's because I'm afraid that the original series might die painfully by being milked to death or not selling well like they used to. I mean, if you guys see how the DBZ franchise is doing in its current state, you would clearly understand. If DMC4 did so well by everyone liking it and didn't complain about the story, don'tchu think we would've been playing a DMC5 now instead of DmC? Think about that!

I also agree with Chibi that no one really asked for DmC, BUT they asked for something new, so this is what they got. Hell, I was also one of the fans who though the original ones were starting to get stale after DMC4. Do I think DmC is the best Devil May Cry game? Not really, as much as I love it. IMO, DMC3>DmC>DMC1>DMC4>DMC2.

So anyways, yeah I hope this is true about the sequel.

arent they still milking the series by making the reboot that no one asked so there was no need to be called devil may cry in the first place thats the same as riding on the fame of a estabilished series they could name this game Heavenly Sword 2 this time with jumping edition and name the main character Charlie and his brother the Fedora man with blue pants and it would make more sense

Man get outta here. The real reason why you and the old fans don't call this a devil may cry game is because it doesn't have your Dante. For god's sake man, you people need to stop saying that it's not a DMC game. If it was named something else then we all would call this a DMC rip-off, WOULD WE?!

And this reboot is not really part of milking. It would be if it had the same characters from the original universe.

who said anything about Dante , and i wouldnt call this a DMC ripoff if they changed the name of the characters , i wouldnt even know this game existed , how can you say its not milking if it has the title of a well known estabilished franchise in its title?

It's. A. Freak. King. Re. Boot!

Do you even know what that is?! A reboot doesn't really add up the milking, or at least from what I've seen with some games and movies that killed their own whole franchise or series. Like I said again, if DMC4 did well to everyone's expectations, we would ALLbe playing a DMC5 instead of DmC.

its still called devil may cry saying its a reboot doesnt change the fact that they are still milking the DMC franchise , thats why i said they could call it heavenly sword 2 change the name of the characters and no one would even think this is a reboot of the well known world wide super famous DMC franchise

Tell that to DC and Marvel with their countless alternate universes and Batman a character who thrives on reinvention. And tell that to Activision with their Call of Duty franchise. They gotta make money somehow and if it means cheating, lying, and manipulating us, then whatever works.

The wicked can never rest. No matter how wicked or saintly they are.

I bet you don't even know that DmC is part of its own series right? That's what I'm trying to say.
