Sales Prediction

Nope. I know people have always said VGCharts was unreliable but in terms of DmC, the haters were relying on this site just because it didn't have DmC on it. On most DmC forums that I've been to I've seen this. I never said it was reliable. All I said was that I find it funny how the haters always have to find something to bash on this game even when wrong.
And some people here always picks the chance to bash on the haters aswell. So yeah, works both ways.

I guess? Well sorry if I sounded like a basher there. I was just posting that mainly for ****s and giggles. Though I really do not like people who ultimately hate this game just because it has the name Devil May Cry. I have heard a lot of haters who actually have good reasons to hate this game and I respect them for it.

I saw a DmC poster at a gamestop at a local mall and the guy in there said that it's one of the top 10 pre-order list. So hey, maybe VGChartz is reliable...somewhat.

I'd say most people don't do preorder numbers because they are hard to model. I believe a lot of the sales figures from the more reliable sources(that aren't the publishers) are based off sampling from retailers and predictive models that they extrapolate to the total number "sold". I don't know how long it takes for publishers to get their complete sales data (instead of just how many they shipped)...

But if you want to get some idea you can go to online sales sites and see what games are trending which is usually a combination of popularity and when the item is being released. I know a UK site I linked to earlier actually numbered their top preselling games and DmC was in the top 10 for both systems.

Do you have a link to this? I'm trying to dind it, but I can't, lol. ;)
icouldnt find the actual numbers but ifyou go to gamestop.com scroll to most anticipated and DmC is 3rd on ps3 and 5th on xbo. for some reason they its put as if it were two different games even though its the same list, strange formating..

I think it means the sale prices between the ps3 version and xbox360 version ^_^ still, it's good news.

I think DmC will sell alright but I wouldn't think it would sell much over 1.5 mil at best. Hopefully it will get a sequel but perhaps that is a pipe dream considering all the hate this game has faced.

My local GameStop mentioned that they had virtually no preorders for the game. I asked, "like, are we talking less than 10," and he made this kind of face: :/. Granted, I live in a relatively small town in Kentucky but he mentioned that he doesn't know of any GameStops doing midnight releases. Now I know a midnight release does not dictate the success of a game, but I think it does represent a game's popularity, especially for a AAA title.

I should take a look how many pre-orders we have at my store, at least five or six that I know of (between customers I've helped, myself, and my buddies), but I know we're not the only ones.

But yeah, GameStop's upper management has kinda put the kaibosh on what they call "rogue midnight launches." We used to be able to do them for any game as long as there was a justifiable amount of pre-orders, but now they only let us do ones for AAA titles :/

I checked the other day the game stores in Gothenburg out of pure curiosity and GameStop said "Around 5" while Game said "Not a single one :|"

I actually have to call all the people who have DmC pre-ordered at out store today, and remind them that it's coming out next week. The sheet looks to have about twenty names on it, including me and some other people I know that are getting it.

This is par for the course though, we're a slower store with a lot of customers who are excited for stuff, but never pre-order things. If I remember correctly, DMC4 had a similarly pre-ordered count when it came out.

I went into Gamestops in my town, I didn't check for pre-orders but they did have the cover cases on a row on both sides (xbox360 on one side, ps3 the other) I saw them at the entrance too, so they're definitely not hiding them with like one 'coming soon' copy in the corner :3
