Question: Do you guys think Dante is a bad character in this game?

The new Dante isn't as terrible as most fans say, especially later and near the final missions you can see how much he starts to remind the ''old'' Dante not because of his hair becoming white, his whole attitude has a change of 180 degrees

People have diffrent taste and opinions
I agree. Too often I see people insult others just because they don't like something. It's really stupid and childish.
Personally I don't like the new Dante that much. But I like him more than the rest of the characters except for Mundus.

That irony...

NT has a different taste and opinion about rebooting DmC.
CheaserTech : Why you change Dante, oh god this control sucks, wheres styles i want it back, combat is to simplyistic, story worse,he swears so much, THIS IS NOT DANTE THIS IS NOT DMC, if they CHANGE the title,im fine with it.

Why do you hate new Dante, it supposed to be new so why the rage?
CheaserTech: Cant i have an opinion? In my opinion new Dante isnt the way he should be.People have different tastes and i dont like it. People have opinions..why do you fight about it? You are insulting me cause i have a different opinion?

I don't ever recall actually saying all of that. Even if I did, I don't randomly insult people for having a different opinion.

Also if you're going to "quote" me, do it with valid quotes.
In fact, you've been on my case ever since the Adam Sessler thread, calling me a "hater" and a "fanboy".

Seriously, stop it. It's not going to get you anywhere. I don't know what you're trying to accomplish.

I like the new Dante. Some people thought his one-liners were pretty dumb, but honestly, I thought they were hilarious. I like his look. Some artwork I've seen looks so bad. Especially the mug shot picture was so disgusting, that didn't even look like Dante.

He looks way better in the game. His haircut is awesome along with his costume.

MedicoreR, please, stop being such a yeti-taint. Chaser is good people, and one of the most constructive uninterested parties here.

I agree, but its no use.

Some people haters, skeptics, supporters or whatever simply wish to draw "battle lines" so to speak, and unfortunately MedicoreR seems to be one of them.

You dont know the story about ''quote''
So please stop being equal
Because justice and equality are different things

The guy is a contradiction master. He only wants respects for his opinion/case, Meg.

People have diffrent taste and opinions. You may not agree, but dont call it dumb if its based up with arguments. I dont like new Dante, but i am not calling anyone who does dumb.

Contrary to popular belief, not all opinions are created equal. It is possible to have weak, stupid reasoning for subjective thought. Then it's up to someone else to determine whether your opinion is dumb or not, which itself can be valid depending on their reasoning. I don't know why there's all this "opinion protection" it's like giving all the kids who played in the game a trophy. Sure it may keep them from feeling bad but it's not reality. And the reality is you can form stupid opinions. Not to say YOU have just in general.

Well no one is saying you have to agree with said opinion.

Whats being asked here is that if you must disagree than do it in a way that doesn't insult anyone.

It entirely possible to disagree with someone and not call their posts dumb or retarded.

What if the post is actually dumb? This all reeks of dumb people wanting a free pass to say dumb things.

Well the rules on the site clearly say that you can't insult other members or bash their opinions.

And I think calling their posts dumb or retarded would fall under insulting them or bashing their opinions.

So in short, it would simply be better for you to disagree without being so blunt about it.

I understand the rules. I'm simply playing devil's advocate and speaking on principle. And in that context, I read a lot of stupid opinions daily all over the internet. So what I'm saying is that ridiculing a dumb opinion isn't dumb or childish, it's intellectually honest.

Let's say someone has the opinion "White people are better (however you want to define better) than black people" this is clearly not true and I use it as an example because it naturally inspires a "That's stupid" reaction. You CAN simply argue it down with the science and whatnot of human genetics, but at the end of the day an opinion like that doesn't deserve that kind of attention. It's sufficient to simply ridicule it's holder.

well a forum tends to be different than simply posting over the internet in comment sections or youtube.

In that you have rules that you must follow in order for others to have civil discussion.

And as far your example goes, if someone did say that on this site or any self respecting forum that person would not have to be called dumb, just report him for his racist remark and the staff would handle him. There would be no reason for you to even further engage such a comment.

But what I am more leaning towards is when people call a opinion dumb simply because the person doesn't share the same view as them.

Say for example someone says

"I like DMC2 WAY more than DmC, its such a better game all around"

And then someone comes in and calls their posts dumb and retarded.

That would be crossing the line by insulting someone who simply stated his opinion.

The whole "whites is better" example is clearly more severe and volatile.

I don't think Dante is good or bad. He's like a regular person (okay a regular person who isn't chased by demons). He's got a reason to be like he is because of his past. Of course he's going to have trust issues when he's put in places where demons are out to get him disguised as humans.
He's never had a family life that he can remember and then has to relive the memory of his mother being slaughtered in a totally brutal way.But even so, there's still some good in him.

Then he begins to change and comes round to the idea that there's something bigger out there than drowning his problems in drink and women.
It's just such a shame it ends with his only family left falling out with him in such a big way and leaving like that. Poor guy is still confused about what he is. I don't know if he ment to go for Vergil like that after the final fight. It's like he was on auto or something with the way Kat had to plead with him to stop. It's like he came out of a trance when she did.

I'm guessing now that there's a danger of him being like that again, and he's prbably scared that he could do that to Kat.
Vergil says something about that in the Vergil comic. The demon side taking over and it's hard to fight once it comes out.

Umm, anyway, so I like Dante as a character. He's just a guy trying to find his way in the world, find some peace and meaning after the terrible start he's had.
