First: Sorry if this was discussed before. I'm just new here. Second: Not sure where to post my suggestion so I saw this section might fit to discuss the idea.
This is DMC forums, right?
In DMC game you collect red orbs to use them to buy stuff.
Since this forums is DMC domain. Why don't we have DMC Orbs system?
1 post = 10 orbs
opening new thread = 20 orbs
and donation system to donate orbs to other members here
there should be features to buy using your orbs
Example:
Increase avatar size = 10,000 orbs
Something like this was previously tried but was called "reputation", I think.
I don't know the specifics but due to people missusing the system it got trashed.
We have limited size for our avatars and sigs for a reason. It shouldn't take long time for someone to load up their page because they've got a little slower internet.
I don't think someone can be that stupid to open threads for 20 orbs each time.. If they did, banhammer are waiting for them.. simple as that.. unless the staff here around are lazy to watch the forums that's the problem
Tell me something fair that those orbs would give. Something that could be used that hasn't already.
We've got complete freedom for avatars and signatures, with the restrictions of keeping malicious content out of it. We've got a post count giving us ranks and we got our buddies, profile costumization and everything. What could be improved?

My internet speed is slow and sometimes I have to reopen a thread over and over, It may cuzez some trouble for me.
AND THE STAFFS HERE ARE NOT LAZY >_<
Hey calm it, He said UNLESS their Lazy, not that they are Lazy.
No Need to shout people.
And I admit the Avitars are a little small.
(on a less serious note, if ANYONE says thats what she said I will end you)
@Cloud- Thats what she said *runaway*
The avis size are enough, if you want to have a bigger pic you are free to choose a big sig and if thats not still enough you may want a spoiler.

i think the avatar size is very reasonable.
Its the size that most forums have.
My forum has height 200, width 150 for avatars.
Why bother with a system that is proven to be a waste of time anyway.

You can get 120x120 avatars by being a premium, like myself, but I don't think the idea worked. I remember that people used to give "Rep+ swaps" and I think it was LoD had well over 1,000,000, and most other people were below 200,000. It was insane. And it didn't really work. We also removed it because it was said that it would help speed up the forums and people would rather have faster forums than the system. At least, they did when it was removed and I was still around
We do use the orbs on the forums page, on the left you can see the red orbs, greyed out orbs and in the case of emergency and Steve needs to close a forum, blue orbs. So they are in use.
If they were to come into use, there would need to be a limit as to how much you can give per day or week. As a reward, maybe spending the points on exclusives like a special banner for your name, or something similar, under the avatar that goes "lol i r so popular i can buy this flashing thing" or whatever.

Hehehe, LoD for the win!
And.. that makes me wish that I'd stuck around and became an active member of the forum when I first signed up. I missed out on so much
And those are the orbs I thought the thread starter (I'm sorry! I forgot your username, I've got REAL bad memory) meant as well. We've got orbs, and those orbs are enough. I'm not in favour of karma or rep or any such thing because we function well without it.
When I joined way-back-when, a Reputation system was inplace.
Essentially it meant if you liked a Post you could effectivly complement a person on it. However, it was removed because it would help speed up the forum and also the system was being used and abused as a popularity contest, rather than a reward system.
The Avatars are a set size because they allow the forum ro run quickly and load faster for users with a more restricted internet access. Premium/Gold Subscribers are privliged with larger avatar allowance, personalised DMC.org email address and being put on our Staff Page as a listed contributor.
There's a big button at the top of the page labeled 'Go Gold!' which outlines the various methods. Essentially, you can donate a small fee to the forum to become a Gold member for a year, or a slightly higher fee to become a Lifetime Member. Becoming a Gold Contributor is not a compulsory action, and it will not change how the staff treat you (we treat everyone with respect and friendlyness -- except spammers and trolls), but every little helps when it comes to running a forum like this, and every penny is appreciated - especially when it helps keep a part of such a vast network of other games forums running too!
Currency Systems meh, again with Exp systems and Gold (coins) systems, they tend to become far to obsessed with the movement of said currency and no longer about the social community of a forum. So, until a 'currency' system emerges that stops people from becoming currency obsessed monsters in a forum, it'll probably be missing from here for a long LONG while.
If anyone wants to know more about Gold, or other forum Mechanics feel free to shoot the questions my way, either here or send me a PM...I'm happy to take any questions ^^
+rep* (if we still had it) to Vauxchen and Aka for attending to this questions maturely good job guys ^_^ and a +rep* for everyone who said the staff are not lazy =p
Disclaimer:*
Rep is an imaginary mechanic and cannot be redeemed or sold, the staff...namely Keaton, will not take any responsibility when you discover that the generous gift of rep is about as physical as 'joy' or the gift of 'knowlege', it is intened as a complement and not a means of income or currency =p
