Opinion: Dante is No Major Loss

The way I see it, the reason DMC fans are mad about the changs, is BECAUSE of change. We all grew up with the classic dante, so we all know him like a brother. What if one day our brother dissapeared and was replaced with a new, completely different brother? Thing like this can really upset people. Thats basically the reason for the death threats.
We all want our brother back.

I don't want to be overly offensive, since I am new here, but seriously? Dante is vidya-character. Nothing more. Why is there such a fanatic cult around that guy, I will never understand, even though I've played the games since I've been 13.

I understand people wanting the original Dante back. Really I do. He's an awesome character. However there is absolutly NO reason for death threats. No reason at all. It's just a video game.

(lol Like I should be talking *looks at 15 year old self* Holy Crap! *takes younger self and throws it back to the past. Locks the door and runs away*)

Who knows, maybe this game will be good. You never know unless you try.

Yes, I know where your coming from. but its an unexplanable thing. As I posted before, hardcore fans HATE change.
I am one of the first genration of DMC fans, so this is even harder on me than most other people.

I honestly disagree with this. Not all "hardcore" fans hate change. I'm a fan of the series and when I saw the teaser trailer, I was looking forward to it. Maybe it was the fact that the new Dante was in an Insane Asylum (Don't ask because I have no idea myself lol) Or maybe it was the new weapon he was using that looked very useful. In the end, I personally thought the game looked pretty decent and was worth trying.

I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore fan, and maybe that's why the changes haven't affected me much, but I do not--and cannot--see how someone can be so attached to a video game character. It's a person made of pixels that acts more of an avatar than what you'd see in a movie or a book.
Especially Dante who is rarely ever in any real trouble to make us sit at the edge of our seats. He's cocky and sarcastic--two traits in a character that is good material--but that's just it!

You make it sound like that hardcore fans are fanatics of a secret sect or something. :S

Hense me disagreeing with his last post. I honestly find the term "hardcore fans" another way of saying "I am obsessed!!!!". And as I said before, not all fans HATE change.

fanatic cult around that guy.

Welcome to the family

Well sure. I was only trying to explain the reason behind the change of dante's hair, and I was doing so with my fanatical points of view. Im a hardcore (obsessed) fan, so I said what I needed to say.
I'll make a post for this disscusion elsewhere. (probably general disscussion)

As much as I enjoyed previous installments, I'm liking the sound of the reboot. The new Dante doesn't strike conflict but the opposite, opportunity. As said before, the original wasn't well developed and kind of bland. With "new" Dante we can see a much better character with a better personality.
