Ninja Theory is Rumored To Reboot Onimusha

The source who shared all today’s massive rumors with Dual Pixels concerning next-gen hardware also had a plethora of rumor water on software, which we’ll report on incrementally. The first is the claim that Ninja Theory, the developer helming the reboot of Devil May Cry, is actually lobbying Capcom to give them permission to reboot Onimusha.
The anonymous source who’d rather remain that way because he/she was not authorized to share sensitive information, said this concerning Ninja Theory’s push to develop an Onimusha reboot:
Ninja Theory is also pitching Capcom an Onimusha sequel for Wii U/Omni/XBoxNext as a “Ookami with guts”.
Ninja Theory has faced severe backlash from fans of the beloved Devil May Cry IP, who they claim has destroyed Devil May Cry.
My take on this is Capcom should simply say no. Hell no.

Capcom asked them to make all the things the fans hate though. They're not to blame.

As for Onimusha, even though it fits more NT than DmC, I don't want them to touch it :( .

But on another hand we will never have a new game for the series I assume, given Capcom s evolution. :/

Wait what? Are they crazy or what? They will get even more hate. Onimusha fans will hate this reboot and DMC fans will hate it too, Even thought they don't care about Onimusha but they will just hate everything Ninja Theory do.
Ninja Theory SHOULD stop rebooting games. They really need to look for a new IP. I'm not hating on them, It just won't be a good thing for them. But if they did the reboot in a way Onimusha fans will accept it (Which i doubt tbh) They will get the support they need from Onimusha fans.

But as a DMC fan. I'm actually happy to read this because it means Ninja Thoery aren't going to make DmC2 :D
And Tameem said that NT will not make DMC5. So Capcom can fix everything they did if they started making DMC5 themselves without hiring any studio. DMC and DmC fans will definitely support DMC5.

btw i'm getting DmC, It's a good game. But seriously... It should be the first and the last one, And no more DMC reboots, Nobody wants to see dMC or DMc official trailer by 2013. Everyone wants DMC5.

But if NT doesnt take the initiative, I dont think we will even get another onimusha game
I think NT should work with capcom to produce a whole new game which draws inspiration from onimusha and DmC.

Onimusha was doing good until number 3...

That's where things went downhill...

Ako? Time travel? Ridiculous last boss fight? I could go on with the list. Onimusha 3 wasn't a bad game, but it was a horrible Onimusha game, it didn't deserve to be called Onimusha at all...

Dawn of Dreams was just so so, but it was boring at times and the camera was really horrible.

Only Onimusha 1 and 2 were excellent.

I don't care about NT making a new Onimusha game, though a reboot is really going to cause a massive hate from Japan community. Onimusha screams japanese and the japanese won't want to see a american onimusha. It doesn't fit.

Let's wait.

Japan community means NOTHING in nowadays gaming industry.

Having monster hunter or dragon quest in the title is enough. The ps3 generation was a failure in Japan, they will never get enough profit with an AAA title made for Japan. :/

On the one hand... it's kinda silly. The point of DmC is to westernize DMC... can't really do that with Onimusha. On the other hand... how else will I ever get another Onimusha? :(

Edit: Personally; I hope it's not true. I'm kinda fed up with all this hate now; it used to be when someone asked me what my favorite game series was I'd tell them Devil May Cry. Now? I tell them InFAMOUS because I don't want to be associated with DMC anymore. I liked Onimusha and would love a new game... I just don't think I want to spend another three years being insulted because I'm open to drastic changes.

It would make more sense to reboot Onimusha than it did with DMC.

I'd be interested in it. I just hope it doesn't mean DmC would die, maybe Capcom would take over DmC 2?

I just hope they don't westernize it because Onimusha just screams "nonsensical japanese" from the characters to the designs.

And what's wrong with having a DmC2? A DMC5 wouldn't even get that much excitement from what I've heard from many fans, including some here.

i rather see them not reboot anything else because they would just become "the reboot guys" and rebooting and working on existing franchises comes with a lot of baggage.

I never played onimusha so im neutral. I rather see them reboot Viewtiful joe since the toukatsu genre is similar to Power rangers and superheroes in the west. Or megaman(maybe not)

Or kOF or DOA/NG for the lulz. jak and daxter could use a reboot(hmm)

I do want Nt to stick around to handle the sequels to the reboot because i dont trust capcom to get it right. Remember DMC2? we had to reboot for a reason which would make the reboot pointless if they end up making the same mistakes twice.

Besides I would be skeptical of a capcom done dmc5 as DMC4 wasnt exactly fresh.

And given there will be a revolution by onimusha fans.
All 28 of them. The rest will be people just riding the hate wave, just like DmC
Edit: I should also add that I don't know what Onimusha is and, thus, would like NT to make one because I do like their artistic style and their gameplay.

It would be great if there will be another Onimusha. But NT is dangerously playing with fire at this point. More reboots will only attract more unwanted negative attention to them. From an economical point of view it's great but from a sociological point of view this is a really bad idea.

o.O PS3 did horribly in Japan?

Also, I don't know enough about Onimusha to care much about it. Unfortunately....I never actually looked at the game. >_>;

I highly doubt this is true. This is how people get riled up guys...rumors.

It would be funny if this would happen though. I haven' played an Onimusha game in years. To finally get another one would be a dream.

Holy crap. Onimusha is seriously some of my favorite games for the playstation era, even if 3 had big flaws and Dawn of Dreams was... odd. I still enjoyed them all.

It's really weird, I mean, Onimusha is japanese all over (with a little french on the 3 and spanish in DoD but still very very japanese) so how the hell do they even....

Unless it's just inspired by Onimusha.... the same way DmC is.

I hightlydoubt it's true, though. Onimusha is pretty much dead, it be like bringing back the Breath of Fire series... it's such a slim chance that it'll ever happen. IM KINDA CURIOUS THOUGH? Even if NT isn't the one to handle it, it would be interesting so see any western developer take on such a franchise.

Instead of westernizing the series, Nt might just modernize it, to a modern japanese era:
With male characters wearing multicolored skinny jeans and looking like members of Korean boy band
Female characters will be cosplayers, exposing as much as there bodies as they can
aged and experienced Samurais will hold PHD degrees in fighting
and most of the fighting will take place in a manga store XD

Wait...Onimusha 3 was a bad game? It was my first(and only) Onimusha game and I loved it. If that's the case then the other Onimusha games must have been extremely good.
