New Interview (08/05)

NT was the one who thought of the story and Capcom gave some input on it. The gameplay is NOT what makes a game great. Look at Final Fantasy Crisis Core. That games gameplay was totally dated and slow, but it still sold many copies and was a really amazing game because of it's narrative and it's story. Gameplay doesn't always make a game good. Also, NT can do what they want with DMC cause it's their game now, they have the right to do so. Also, If I remember right, CAPCOM took DMC from the original creator, Hideki Kamiya, and CAPCOM has been making changes with the game left and right. It's like a kid with his toy, a bully takes it and plays with it all day long. However one day, the bully plays with it so much it breaks (or is not fun anymore), so the bully gives it to some smart kid to re make it into something cool. CAPCOM should not be holding DMC anymore cause they messed it up too much to continue.

I'm not trying to get into the argument here but if you really think NT has complete control over this game then you are just simply wrong. NT does not possess full control of what they do with the game because they have to comply with certain rules to make this game a DMC game, simple as that. For example, maybe the people at NT think that Dante carrying a huge sword on his back seems stupid, but they did it anyway, or else people would not recognize that it is Dante. Maybe they don't like the color red but they make Dante wear red things. Even if they do what they want with the game, even if they screw up and make the gameplay the easiest and not in-depth thing in the world, they cannot change things completely or else this game should be renamed entirely (it would not be a DMC game).

So yes, NT might create the game, they give their own artistic style, they develop the gameplay, they make the story, but they are basing their development on DMC and HAVE to add things that they would otherwise not like in order to do so.

Ask yourself a question. What makes a franchise a franchise? Elements. Elements need to be kept or else it is another thing altogether. And that, my friends, is one thing NT has no power over when making this reboot part of the DMC franchise.

Can't argue with that.

Can't argue with that.

Going back to what Tameen said, however, he basically told the fans "we don't make a game for you guys, we make a game that we feel it is a good game" and that's the attitude any artist should take when creating... anything. You do what you feel like doing, if people don't like it, too bad... there is always those who do.
