My thoughts on DmC: Devil May Cry

wasn't it until dmc3 that dante was actually based of ruben? i don't know who dmc1-2 dante is based off though but they dont look very much alike, age difference after all. The only dante who was truly completely different was the DMC4 dante that was shown in the ps3 exclusive trailer.

The voice actor is Tim Phillipps and yes he motion captures as Dante in DmC too.
Here's a better video of Tim Philipps

Why does he sound like an Ausie? And who the hell is Grant? There's no Grant in SC! ...is there ?

Back on topic, yeah he kinda does look like him actually. A more well-fed version of him. Ah what the heck. He's blonde and he's got blue eyes. I like him. ^_^

Can't please them all.

For a large portion of fans, DMC should have stayed the same way with absolutely no changes at all. However, there would still be the terrible camera motioning, the fanfiction style story-telling (Then again every story in the world is a fanfiction of an original somehow), Dante acting like a bigger joke then before, and so on.

For the other portion, DMC needed to change with a new look on it. However that meant giving up the iconic white haired red coated one-liner hero for the black haired black coated witty emo punk anti-hero, change in the enviornment from creepy castles to modern mixed with european streets, and original DMC fans judging you and calling you an idiot or a dumbass for liking it, or worse. The same old "You're not a true DMC fan if you like this game." I hate that.

Is it just so awful to like both dante? What's the problem with that? Why does those people can't understand that?

It's just Punk. Emo didn't happen until Linkin park came up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo

History

Origins: 1980s

Emo emerged from the hardcore punk scene of early-1980s Washington, D.C., both as a reaction to the increased violence within the scene and as an extension of the personal politics espoused by Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat, who had turned the focus of the music from the community back towards the individual.

"Emo" was something long before Linkin Park did any music.

Well i thought Ian somehandler was a good choice for classic dante.

Never really got the emo thing since i see emo characters are characters who tend to make mountains out of molehills or make easy decisions unneccesarily complicated. Plus they tend to only complain about a problem rather than actually try to solve it.

For example, Dino isnt emo to me since there is no easy way out of his predicament.

Yeah. They even almost dress the same way in that clip. All Tim needed was a long claymore sword on his back, dye his hair black and talk with an American accent, and he'd be a clone of the new Dante.
