My Final Verdict

This is a forum, Ken. If you post something here, you're asking to be "ganged up" on. Besides, nobody's insulting anybody.
Actually, if you post something here you are opening up to retort and debate.

Ill wait for the demo to make my judgement of the game and maybe a bit more story info since we just know bits and pieces about the story without even knowing how most of those pieces fit together.

While I understand you have your own preferences and opinions, I have to point out that one sentence. You don't play a GAME for GAMEplay? A video game is made for the gameplay. To play it for the story is like buying three movie tickets plus popcorn and soda. You're really just wasting your money if you're only buying a game for that reason.

But again, we have different preferences...
......You don't play games for gameplay?.....?.......My head hurts........I think I'm going to go to sleep.
I can respect that you don't play games for the gameplay, but DMC? Come on, you're a fan of the wrong series man.

Gameplay is becoming increasingly repetitive. Innovations seem to be focused on messing around with physics but hack n' slash hasn't been all that creative. With that said, I'm not going to hold my breath for a game with gameplay I've already seen before. I grew interested in DMC because of its story, I became a fan because I was optimistic that its story would grow bigger.

Little early for Final verdicts, folks.
Well, we don't know enough about the story to come up for a final verdict for that, as well for the gameplay, difficulty and overall atmosphere of the game. Isn't it a bit early to come up with a final verdict?

After waiting for about three years, I think that this is a perfect time to make a final verdict. The game's only three months away and I'm not going to wait until post facto of me wasting time playing it just for me to decide whether I like it or not. We have been shown quite a good amount: some key parts of the story has been revealed and they've shed alot of info on the gameplay. So, I believe, I have enough to go on to say that it just isn't clicking with me. Unless NT decides to make a reveal that would change my mind, I don't see my opinion majorly changing until the game's realease.

Agreed. Although Railazel I would still give the demo a try just to see what it's like ^_^ But I can understand.
As for Rz, meh, you haven't played the demo yet or maybe you've played far too many copies of DMC. Like Bayonetta or Dante's Inferno.
Let's wait for a demo before we say things we might regret, okay?
Why don't you play a demo before coming to your final verdict?

I might play the demo just to have a taste of what the gameplay is going to be like. Once the game is released, I plan on watching some walkthroughs to see if the story is good enough for me to want to buy it.

I respect your perspective, but if that's the case, aren't all stories repetitive and generic? The story of DmC is not too original.

I guess it's the same thing with me and Bayonetta, it's propably great gameplay wise ( Bayonetta I mean) but I'm not into the character, she looks like a barbie doll with small head and unnaturally long legs that really makes me wanna throw up, how is that "sexy" ?
Bayonetta_body_sketches.jpg

On the other hand: I wasn't that into Castlevania Lords of Shadow either, but one of my friends bought it and when I saw it in action I bought it too and enjoyed it very much.

And yes I would have wanted to see more radical Dante too, but you know what they say: Beware what you wish for, 'cause you might get it...

As for Railazel: I think it's still too early to say whether you like it or not, now basically what NT is trying to do is play it safe, show the fans of the originals that it's still devil may cry, It still has Vergil, Mundus, Sparda, etc.

So whatever you decide I suggest that you play the demo first and then make your decision.

^ If you think Bayonetta is out of human proportion (she is, she's 11 heads high) so is Gabriel. His proportions are way off, let me tell you. But people still like him. No biggie.

True but Gabriel has more clothes on, so you won't actually think about it so much.
But in Bayonetta they are trying to make her look sexy and all she wears is her own hair :O and her disproportions are much more drastic.

The only thing that's out of proportion is his head.

But Bayonetta's legs are like three times the lenght of her body, and when they are marketing that as sexy I just wanna puke, she doesn't look sexy or beautiful to me, she's like a barbie doll...

Bayonetta's proportions are a design choise that came about for the movement of the character.

It's odd but for some reason looking at stills of her you can tell she just looks strange but in motion it just seems right. To be honest I think it was a stroke of genius giving her those long legs (way longer than her uper half), makes her look like a dancer.

Bayonetta is a dancer. Her design and even the way she moves is more like a model in set or a ballerina, not a stripper.
She's actually very well rounded, but I can see why the legs can freak someone out. She's a woman, not one of those cutesy females that tend to be the norm.
Gabriel's design is to exude the male and heroic figure instead.
While Dante's design is a young, unpolished rebellious one.
They all have purpose and good silhouettes.
Not arguing just adding my two cents.

She might not be designed like a striper but she sure knows how to move like one.

In Gabriel's case, yeah, it's the same reason the characterrs in Gears of War have biger biceps than heads, to emphesise a masculine shape.

Dante was a scrawny kid, if everyone remembers the reveal trailer he had skinny arms and no muscle. They beefed him up when they redesigned him.

I dunno she just freaks me out, guess I'll just have to...

Nope sorry guys

She's way too much for me to handle, but I don't like super models either so I guess it's just my taste then...

Have you actually played the game? Try the demo, it's like 10 minutes, see if it's any different in motion. Believe me, it's a different story with the controler in your hands.

Bayonetta is a videogame character. I can't think of any video game character that does NOT look out of proportion or slightly strange in some way if you are going to refer to their sexual attractiveness as if they were human beings.

Bayonetta is touted as 'sexy' in the game but I just find it amusing. Not maddening or nausea-inducing. It's just a game, after all, and perhaps in her world, that is what witches are supposed to look like. Y'know... "imagination" and "what if" and all that.

Gabriel's head is too small for the body (even if you un-imagine the extra bulk of the armor), and if he were standing straight there I'd actually say even his legs are slightly out as well. A normal human being's crotch is at 50% of their height, or should be. This image shows how "off" he is. No normal man looks like this.

You share the same taste as I do.
It's so wierd why girls go on diet and try to be a supermodel proportion that is not that appealling, and is impossible to become.
But yeah since it's a game it's only artwork.

I get that Lexy, by the way it's not exact 50% more like 45-40% and 55-60% but that depends...
athlete.jpg

does this look like 50-50 to you? Yes Gabriel is off but not THAT much as Bayonetta, it would be like making Gabriel's head into a size of a golf ball or something ...

I haven't because well... I heard about the problems of the PS3 version at the time, then I just lost interest.

But yeah it might be a pleasant surprise gameplaywise, I just hate those giraffe-legs

Anyways I'm not here to bash Bayo, just trying to understand the reasons why Railazel has basically given up on DmC, it's the same reason why I haven't touched this game, now give me a break, please?
Please?

No one is forcisng you to play it. You are missing out, though. Yeah the PS3 version is inferior but if the 360 version didn't exist the PS3 version would still have the best combat on the market.

But think about how you feel about Bayonetta, it's similar to how he feels about DmC. Is it so hard to understand his reasons? They're not that different from yours.

Obviously not exactly because obviously every person is not identical to another. Yes it depends on how large an area you define for the 'crotch', where it begins, where it ends.

First of all she isn't kneeling upright, much less standing upright so we can see properly, secondly you must define the start of the legs where the bones of the hips meet the bones of the legs and in this image the legs appear long because the shorts are short/hiked. She will still be close to 50-50 if she a regularly-proportioned human.

Generally accepted at 50-50, historically and currently, obviously there are variations between individuals but this is the average guide.

Now you misunderstood, I meant that it must be the same way that I feel about Bayonetta, that's why I brought up Bayonetta in the first place! :D
I have similiar feelings with Bayo as he has with DmC that was my point all along
I totally understand him, because I'm in a similiar situation with several other games including Bayonetta.
It's not that I hate Bayo, more like I'm lacking interest in it, but you are right that I should not judge it by cover, maybe I'll download a demo or something...

Edit: Okay Lexy, I surrender ! I cannot fight against Da Vinci. :)
