Metal Gear Rising Demo Impresions

Even if it was for seconds, I don't like it. DMC was about the action, There never was unskippable cut-scenes in DMC3-4.
But yeah, MGR is much worse, It last for minutes. I can't stand that.

MGR should at least make these dialogues skippable by beating the game once, But I doubt they will do that.

Damn you Kojima and your writing, your long ass cut-scenes are ANNOYING. -.-

So Kojima's people did the writing for this game and not P*? After that timewreck of story in Bayonetta, that was a big worry of mine. Kojima however, I love MGS's jabbering cutscenes because they tend to have the right amount of charisma and conspiracy-come-to-life talk in them.

...Okay, Raiden babbling with his girlfriend in MGS2 was abit boring.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about the difficulty peoeple; it is P* afterall. Kinda surprised you can't skip cutscenes... you sure you can hit start or something?

How did you do the side step move?

The parry is the block, once you figure it out its not hard to do and its your main defensive move. And when it comes to combos there wasnt and DMC like combos but if you've played All Star Battle Royale he has pretty much the same attacks for the moves part. It works like Ninja Gaiden like triangle square traingle.

I liked the demo myself, felt the fodder was too easy when you could use blade mode on them from the get go though. Liked that there are parts where u can stealth kill everything. And if you cant get the parry input down or just cant avoid certain attacks you can die pretty easily, i got stunned a few times by the geckos(i think it was them) and then i got shot by a rocket and i died even though i had a little more than 50% hp.

The only thing i liked more about this game than DmC was that they used the forward back inputs to add extra moves and if you rotate the analog stick and press triangle raiden will breakdance with the sword on his foot to cut everything around him. Besides the special move imputs MGRR and DmC dont have much in common, the whole flow of gameplay feels different(or is it just me?). Its more of a button masher with parries in between since you're graded by how many hits you can get and now what moves you used to get those hits but its seems there are ways to look pretty BA while in combat if you want.
Yeah it's not just you, it is a very different type of game and feels very different and that's not a bad thing, last thing this genre needs is a bunch of clones. For me i'm just not too fond of it right now but I really want to like it so I will give it another go.

My thoughts of the demo now. No, the public demo still hasn't changed my mind. I learned a few new combos, move sets and now learned there IS a dodge mechanic . But I still don't like the game anymore than I already did.

You cant skip certain parts mainly when the Borus guy talks to you but i skipped everything else like the intro cutscene and the scene after your 1st fight and the boss battle intro scene.

It's a flawed demo on many levels that you'd think two veteran games development studios would probably fix before release. I've noticed various odd AI glitches such as GECKOS repeatedly getting lost in their own pathfinding routines, characters failing to react to environment deformation, Raiden getting trapped in walls, and of course the fact that most of the important button inputs (Juggle Launcher, Sub-Weapon and even dodging) aren't elaborated on in either the tutorial (Which doesn't prepare you for combat) or the tutorial-heavy mission. I was especially upset that they didn't include unlockable difficulties in the demo as an extra incentive, because even DmC got that right.

Still, there's a lot to like within the demo. There's easter eggs to find, a nice combo system to explore and the option to tackle battles either stealthily or as a brawl. I'm not entirely dissatisfied, and I remain cautiously optimistic.

Everyone is aware that the Demo is the same one from the Tokyo Game show September of last year right? Based on the videos I have seen of in game combat that have been released it looks more polished than the Demo.

That still doesn't excuse the demo of it's flaws; if they want to advertise the game they should ensure that the player's first impression is as strong as possible.

NT gave PS3 users a flawless Enslaved demo. Final game had a fair share of glitches so I've heard.

Oh Enslaved is a whole other kettle of vomit, and the demo was only flawless because all it required was holding the left stick forward for two minutes.

Still a nice take on the Odyssey to the West.

Oh sure, take a story about a pious priest and an indestructible kill-crazy demi-god travelling the Earth to spread peace, and turn it into a revenge quest to murder Andy Serkis. Genius.

I'm still waiting for a videogame that does the most mature and realistic rendition of JttW justice.

But the main character, Monkey is voiced by Andy Serkis. And the Pyramid is voiced by Andy Serkis. Oh . . . My . . . God . . . Is that considered suicide? Or murderception?

I guess I missed some things the first time I played the demo. I did end up doing some combos, but still, it's nothing to write home about. Managed to block - oh I'm sorry - 'parry'. Yeah, he just blocks everything.

You get the chance to kill enemies stealthily, but I don't really see the point in that. If you like doing that, by all means, but he just impales people once and that's it.

If you get to do more combos later in the game, I might like this more than DmC. Overall, a pretty good job, which should be expected from a collaboration between P* and Kojima Productions.

I just played through the demo and I must say, I find it really cool. Can't wait to play the full game. ^^

It is indeed more stylish than DmC, but also alot more simple. You get your slash and your kick attacks, the Blade Mode and... that's about it. It's cool, but simple.

Already gave my two cents on this game so I wont need to repeat it you guys did for me :P

All im gona say is I expected something more from platinum this is just idk. As a MGS fan this dissapoints me :\ cause it dones nothing new and (the demo) was quite easy compared to DmC

DmC demo sucked compared to this. You might be a fan based of what we had in the past but I enjoyed the demo quite well and I caught on how to do controls a second play through so my overall feel for the game is that I can't wait for it. At least this game provided something different than stealth but don't get me wrong stealth is good in a MG game but I feel the DmC reboot provided nothing new except a story.
