Man...Capcom should've waited...

They could've just made a DMC5 as the 2013 DMC game for the PS3/360 for the old fan's last hurrah and THEN called NT over for the reboot for the next(or now current) gen systems. There would still be a riot, but it would be much less cuz they have their own DMC game to play with, along with their favorite Dante and the closure of the story. DmC could've came out in 2015 along with a DmC2 coming out in either late 2017 or early 2018 if Capcom played it smart. NT also could've have the advantage to make the gameplay as "fast" as possible along with all the awesome designs, cuz that's the reason why it was at 30fps(not that I had a problem with it though).

It's now I'm thinking about this, because now I'm seeing many game reboots for the PS4 and XboxONE. They wouldn't have been in the sh*thole they're in now if they freaking WAITED! Anyway, what do yall think? Should Capcom have waited?

They should've... But they messed up! (I too don't have problems with framerate issues because I've been playing a game that makes sudden changes in framerate; that's Minecraft!)

Shoulda, coulda, woulda.
Not exactly a fan of Beverly Knight, but since you mentioned the song name, I had to post this...

Actually it was a good thing Capcom made DmC for 2013.

If Capcom had made a DMC5 righ tafter DMC4, it would have just been treated as "Oh look, another DMC game with the same things I've seen for ten years now. Whoopie." by most critics. Not only that, bu tthe game's sales would actually be less because fans will just see it as another DMC game and it would have no real power to back it up for those not into H&S anime styled games like DMC.

By bring in the reboot, the fans would get furious and the whole hate for DmC would slowly remind those fans that DMC was important to them no matter how the same it is, and so by making a DMC5 by 2015, the sales would go up and fans would preaach DMC returns! OUR DANTE IS BACK!! Like the fanbase they are.

So DmC coming out now is a good thing because it makes DMC5's arrival that much larger.

So in short, what are you implying, DM?

Do i like DmC? Yes. Do i like othe older DMC? Yes. Its all in execution. If DmC would have been done differently, it would have been the same think. "Look its a prequel to the series, yay..." (for the 1253 time, i know its not, but if done differently it could have been)

I agree with this though. Its all a set up to make people eager for the next DMC. Which whether or not this game came out I would have been. although late coming into the series, i like DMC, and the new game grew on me, hoping there is atleast a seque to wrap it up.

In terms of speed/frames perhaps, the combat appeared "slow" to me. Otherwise I don't think timing makes much difference to the fact some fans like the reboot and some fans don't and want their original DMC back. I can't see either old or new Dante hogging the new systems at the expense of each other

DMC 4 was released in 2008. Early mentions of DmC was in 2010. If capcom had waited for next-gen to even concieve the concept(with developers analysing new hardware gameplay advantages, graphics, concepts and what not which needs trial-and-error testing), it would be another two years from now. So No, DmC did take its time and any longer would be unnecessary and most of all, would not have made a difference if successor to DMC 4 was DmC.

With DMC 4 though, I read in an interview from itsuno where team had many ideas for DMC but implementing them had their limitations. So DMC 4 could have been pre-conceived and next-gen systems could have helped accomplish it. But series never seemed to be going anywhere after DMC 4. So i highly doubt, if DmC or successor to DMC 4 could have been pre-conceived for next-gen systems.

You both are missing the point. I'm trying to say that Capcom should've just not thought about rebooting the series in the first place and continued on with the original series by concluding the storyline, which would be the events after DMC2. Cuz right now, many fans are questioning what happened to Dante and stuff like that. If they did that instead of thinking about a reboot back then, they wouldn't be close to bankrupt, because WE ALL KNOW that DMC4 sold very well and a DMC5 would sell as well as 4, though it'd be a bit less. Another reason why I think this because DmC has a whole new audience.

Heck, DMC5's story can be a clusterfuck along with the gameplay being "street-fighter-samey", the old fans can still see their favorite Dante one last time.

You just now seeing this?

Yeah, Atleast i admit a sequel to DMC 4 wouldn't have worked as much as DmC.

But you on the other hand.

At one side, you admit DMC 5 can be an epic fail and you also find 'reboot' unwanted.

Condescension and patronizing,FTW.

what if this was capcom's plan all along? what if they wanted to make a ****ty game that they knew would be hated (i use that word loosely), and in hopes that they would make the next DMC installment not only for next gen, but now people will be much more eager to buy? and we're moving the plan along right on schedule.

Of course that would be their plan. But I do think that they really did want to reboot DMC to make it fresh again. But hey, gotta have back up plans.

But I really don't give a damn about DMC5 anymore. All I know is I won't be getting a sequel to DmC so I really don't care what the fate of DMC is anymore.

i honestly do believe on a serious note that rebooting the franchise was something that they were planning to do, but if they were gonna make DmC, they should have done it way later. but in a ****astic turn of events, at least DMC5 can bring us the devil may cry we've been waiting for

I think maybe they should've waited. They could've done one more I think maybe and let that run the PS3 cycle. And then have started the reboot on the PS4. That and not hinting a possible DMC5 for ages before announcing a reboot instead, that might've helped XD

Correction; the devil may cry YOU all have been waiting for.

Yeah, it would've been a good idea for them to just finish the DMC series first. That way, I doubt there would be much outrage, if any at all. But now Capcom (or at least the Devil May Cry games) has lost a lot of consumers because of their behavior, and even Ninja Theory is seen as a heartless developer by some. I don't think they can be blamed, though - I heard a long time ago that it wasn't their idea to change so much about DMC. Capcom told them it wasn't good, and they had to start over. So they probably had very little time to come up with their own version of Devil May Cry, and it got us a mediocre game as a result.
Besides, you don't reboot something when it's not dead yet, otherwise you get the response - by a large part of the fanbase - that DmC got. DMC4 is seen as a failure by hardcore fans, but it really isn't; have you seen the review scores it got? Aside from that, it sold VERY well, so there's no sense in thinking it ended the DMC series. I could see it as filler, but a failure? Not at all.
